one dumb part you didnt mention about the evolved suit is that miles chose the worst time to make and then wear it. insomniac could've at least shown him tinkering on it whenever we see him doing his college essay or entering the house during some side missions, but no, we only get the final result right before the climax of the game which happens to take place during a city wide lockdown in which he'd be really helpful at saving people??
What I found the most ironic about it was that, for me, I had JUST heard a JJJ podcast where he criticizes Peter for getting a new outfit while the city is in shambles (even though he didn't really have a choice lol). Then, right after that, I see Miles show up in his new outfit 😂

When i got the symbiote it didnt feel like a slight boost, it was a massive boost with more versatile abilities and a rage mode and that didn't let you take damage either from gun fire or melee attacks from enemies and with a boost in regular web fire and melee damage. When i switched over to miles i was like " aww man i dont get to bulldoze my enemies" but I still overall enjoyed both of them
Spider-Man Noir also has his own web wings, having the comic dotted pattern on it like the rest of the outfit, and Peter's Falcon costume has wings on the backpack instead of the underarm webs. So in terms of unique web wings, Peter has 4 and Miles has 3.

Not a lot of people talk about this, but i wish Peter and Miles had more poses in photomode. Like sure, peter has the pointing meme or the spider-verse thinking meme pose. But they could have added poses that are like a no-brainer. Like the "Secret Wars" black suit pose, the Bully Maguire dance pose, or the Amazing phantasy 15 pose, etc.... And for Miles, they didn't add the thinking meme pose from ITSV, even though peter has it in photomode. Like, i hope they add these poses in like an update or something. 9:00 I completely disagree, after getting the black suit all I could feel was a power high. It might've been since the first fight only uses the surge mode but even in swinging and stopping normal crimes it felt good, every time I switched out of the black suit id go back to it simply because of the vibe of combat.
I think that the problem with the new Miles suit is that it doesn’t really feel like something Miles would wear (to me at least.) I personally use it but only because it reminds me of my Spidersona suit.
Kai, the Raimi suit had white webs coming out, which is why he doesn't have the black webbing when he thwips. However, the L1 and Triangle(or X) SHOULD be the symbiote boost for mid-air traversal.
I personally didn’t mind that you had the spider arm abilities before you got the symbiote because I found the symbiote abilities WAY more useful than the arm abilities
My only complaint is how little replay value there is, especially since mission/base replay and new game+ aren't in the game yet Also i wish they kept in the ability to spawn in random crimes in the FNSM app that was in the miles morales game

Yeah exactly, before the symbiote, I felt Peter lacked in terms of good abilities in comparison to Miles, but right after getting that symbiote I couldn't stop using him
i'd say this game is like a 9/10. only actual persistent flaws (not bugs or anything) was flint marko's voice acting, and the unidentified target missions, those are really annoying. Also, i feel like that the side missions could be much more expanded upon, but we will most def get elaborations in any form possible, either DLC or a new game. Super great game
I ended up skipping the target missions, they put way too much faith in the player to have a handle on the glide mechanic for me to be able to pull those off
I think the reason why they didn’t give the Raimi black suit black webbing was because in Spider-Man 3 You can see Peter, shooting, white webs and not black. I think this costume should’ve been like an alternate style for the webbed suit and not be its own thing
The reason why it's the BEST Spider-Man game for me is because of the amount of heart and passion was put into it. Insomniac wasn't trying to make a perfect game. They was trying to make the BEST Spider-Man game they could make using all their knowlege of Spider-Man. And that is worth praising.
One part that i enjoy about this game a lot is that you can actually feel the power creep, at first you can find yourself having a bit of trouble with some average goons or sand enemies if you weren't careful, but as you progress and get new gadgets, abilities and overall health and damage buffs, you start to take down weaker enemies in just 4 hits or less, then you get introduced to stronger enemies that take more effort to take down, once i started fighting symbiotes i realized i was barley getting through each encounter, so i went out and did a lot of side stuff and got tons of upgrades, after that it still wasn't easy, but i could tell that i had gotten more powerful.
My biggest issue aside from Kraven not holding me in his big manly arms has to be the Symbiote Behemoths. I KEEP HITTING THEM, AND THEY JUST DON'T GO DOWN! I CAN WASTE ALL MY ABILITIES ON THEM AND THEY'RE STILL STANDING! GO TO SLEEP ALREADY!
Miles' new suit reminds me a lot of Silk's, with the highlights being on the torso and the top of the head being exposed. I imagine the evolved suit was worked in to provide later narrative explanation to Silk's suit whenever she is properly introduced.
While I do still feel like the symbiote abilities were a lot more powerful than the arms, I feel like it would've been more impactful both gameplay and storywise if Peter didn't get the arms until after losing the suit. That way, Peter, and by extension the player, would feel like he's falling behind compared to Miles, and you'd feel like you get an even bigger power boost from the black suit. Then, after losing it, Peter makes the arms, using his scientific genius to boost his power himself, rather than relying on a freaky alien thingy. I was honestly shocked when Peter gets to use the arms in the first mission of the game, and thought that was a really odd decision.
I see your point but I feel similarly in the opposite way, start with the arms but make it clear they exist because he feels like he's falling behind by miles. That way you set up very early on Peter's self doubt, which would give the symbiote something to actually feed off of negative emotion wise. Then after losing the symbiote, Pete should've unlocked some mad powerful Spiderarms ability that's inspired by the symbiote. I feel like antivenom is a cop out, while good for explaining why ingame he can still use symbiote powers, it sort of thematically goes against what the suit is, which is raw power at a spiritual cost. Weakens the impact a bit, even if antivenom spidey is fun
your nitpick is actually incorrect. Spider-Man had the web-wings since his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 and there were comics that featured him using them to glide. They eventually got rid of them, and everyone got used to him without them because it looked better.
I'm just saying, Insomniac should have made the web wings for the Iron Spider Suit be the repulser thrusters on his hands and feet...that'd be pretty sick. Also the FFH Final Swing suit uses the wrong shade of blue, instead making it teal for some reason
After playing the game and waiting for the big update coming in at some time in the future a lot of the costumes grew on me like miles new costume it’s just kinda fun to have but it kinda sucks that the deluxe suits only have the one color I understand the licensed ones because Sony and Disney has to approve the colors also I’m pretty sure the color options are just texture changes
I said in another video of yours. I really wish the spider arm abilities were instead replaced with web based abilities. This would show Peter as the more veteran Spidey using his webs in more creative ways and also wouldn’t look so out of place and obnoxious like the arms do. The L1 + Square could be the same but he instead uses webs to pull little chunks of concrete out the ground and slaps up the enemy with them. L1 + Triangle could be the same with Peter launching himself forward similar to the sling shot and twirling around using kicks and firing webs destroying everything in front of him L1 + X could be the same but have Peter pull himself skyward with webs then proceeds to yoink up all those below him with webbing And lastly, L1 + Circle could be replaced with Peter creating a massive “web wrecking ball” (for lack of better term) that he slams into the ground causing it to explode and web up all enemies in the immediate area. And if u upgrade it u can add fly back to the webbed up enemies so if ur in an alley they all fly onto and get stuck to the walls. OP as fuck but fun as shit in my eyes.
They're probably saving all the web-based abilities for Silk, either in DLC for this game or in the inevitable Spider-Man 3. However, I agree with your sentiment; Peter's supposed to be the veteran here, so his in-game abilities & playstyle, as well as his canonical feats in the story, should reflect that. However, this also game seems to have a bizarre & *massive* hate-boner for Peter Parker, so he's not allowed to actually accomplish anything himself or be portrayed positively in his own game.
I see your point, but I feel like the arms DO showcase Peter's experience with this version specifically. We see in the first game that Insomniac's Peter has come up with a myriad of gadgets and various tools built into his suit that allow him to better fight crime. The arms are like the culmination of his life's work so far, as with a maxed skill tree, the arms are one catch-all tool that can pretty much accomplish everything that the gadgets of the first game could accomplish; the upgraded L1 Triangle ability acts like impact web, L1 X acts like the suspension matrix, L1 Circle acts like electric web from the first game (especially when upgraded), and the upgraded L1 Square even has a concussive blast at the end of the combo. The only things really missing are the web bombs and spider bots, which are more than supplemented by the gadgets.

Makes him look too goofy for me (big chunky metal arms coming out of a seemingly cloth suit. I know this isn’t a shared sentiment but at the end of the day it is what it is. From a gameplay standpoint they feel great and are fun to use but it’s just a nitpick I have.

My main problem with the suit is the context in which he creates the suit, its the end of the world practically and Miles thought you know what instead of saving people imma make a new suit. If it was like the anit-ock suit where it served a purpose for the final boss fight then it would make sense, but it doesn't. (plus its ugly imo)
I’m with Kai that this shouldn’t be his new suit going forward, it doesn’t scream miles morales to me. Hopefully they go back on this for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
I definitely noticed a power difference with the black suit, especially with the rage mode that just absolutely annihilates. When I got the suit stripped away from me, I wanted it back so bad because of that one mode alone, but even the abilities felt stronger than the robo arms, even if it was mostly a visual difference there. Personally, I like the robo arms. I think it adds a lot more to the combat, especially since the first game's combat system was so plain and easy. Taking them away would just make it seem like the first game to me, and I would feel pained to play Peter Parker to begin with. Why would I ever want to play Peter if Miles is the objectively better Spider-Man to play as? It makes no sense. While the arms were a bit clunky, I still did enjoy them, and the clunkiness adds to the impact of Peter getting the black suit for sure
That thumbnail got me acting up fr fr... But honestly, this is the best video I've seen on Spider-Man 2 so far. Your points weren't overly technical and I totally agree on pretty much everything you brought up, especially relating to Peter's weird arm thingies that make the symbiote not seem like that much of an upgrade.
Disagree about the gadgets. Almost all the gadgets from the first game are still in this one. Many of them have just been combined into one to cut out the gadget wheel and improve combat flow. Impact Webs are an upgrade for the basic Web-Shooters and trigger automatically, Ricochet Webs function like better Web-Bombs, Fully upgraded Upshot is like Suspension Matrix, Spider-Bots and Electric Webs in one and Sonic Burst is a better Concussive Blast with a larger area of effect. The only gadget actually missing are the Web-Mines which is a shame but they are not really needed because stealth is not as much of a focus this time around (which is fine for me because it wasn’t all that fun anyway). Overall I used the gadgets far more in this game than in the first because I didn’t have to pause the game to select them and found them a lot more useful and fun because they synergise well with other gadgets and your special abilities.
I have two issues about this game. 1: when you equipment black venom suit the venom attacks are still white instead of being black 2: you can't change the time!
I think just saying the story is “ok” is kind of underselling it a bit. Feels like just complaining to complain. The writers did an insane job on making every characters story feel purposeful and earned over the last two games of storytelling. The character work is so good, and the way that insomniac sticks to past spidey lore while doing their own spin and portrayal on certain things keeps it fresh and unique to these games stories and world.
Agree, the only thing I would complain about is literally just getting more of it. If the game had like 2-3 hours more it would’ve helped the story’s pacing.
The whole removal of the arms? You get that the symbiote abilities are just way stronger, right? And if they took away the symbiote like they do and left you with no L1 abilities for a good chunk of the game, wouldn't that be annoying? Besides, it also shows a progression in Peter and Miles. That they took what didn't work with Doc Ock before and massively improved it
Peter’s L1 abilities would’ve made more sense with the surge abilities. E.g. as Peter, you don’t get any L1 abilities, but then you press L3+R3 to change your spider-man suit into the anti venom suit where you get the L1 abilities on stop of your increased strength & no damage taken. When I play I just get picky, when I’m wearing a spandex suit as Peter I don’t use L1 abilities at all and specifically use gadgets & combos to take enemies down. And I only use the spider arm abilities when I’m using an armoured design because I can’t help but get distracted when I use the spider arms on the homemade suit. Plus, I really hope there’s an update where you can switch between the black & white variants of the symbiote abilities because after the main story you’re locked out of the black suit abilities & are stuck with the anti venom equivalent & it bothers me more than it should.
This games a few updates from perfection imo, add ng+, replay story missions, replay hunter/symbiote bases, weather change, and change symbiote/arm color, and in general more activities or bases to do post story
my only complaint of the game is that the symbiote enemies at the end of the game. Don't get me wrong, those symbiote enemies are cool the first time around. But after fighting thems throughout all the symbiote nests mission and the last arc of the games. I am exhausted. Plus, why are they still here post game? They are tanky, tricky, and really forces you to play in a specific way at the end game. They hit like a truck too. This really stings. Otherwise, the game is fantastic! Waiting for DLCs.
My solution to Symbiotes and ESPECIALLY the brutes is just special attack spam. The big guy I just run right up to and Mega Venom Blast immediately when I’m playing Miles, or I just surge more through them as Peter. Can’t be bothered dealing with them. Hope fighting them is a little more balanced if they ever do Knull stuff given how much these Symbiotes are immediately connected to him
There's a couple gripes I have and that's mainly the non-inclusion of some things from the previous games 1. The gadgets from the previous games should be options like the abilities. I MISS the web bomb, trick wire, friggin impact web! Why are they gone? Sure certain web abilities make up for it, but it makes stealth missions a little boring 2. The costumes... nuff said 3. The podcasts. Half the time they're cut short bc of missions, so the fact i can't go back and listen to them is a bummer. Hopefully updates fix this stuff, doubt it though
For me personally the updated HUD wasn’t that frustrating, I just kinda through muscle memory just started remembering which buttons do which so I didn’t really need to spread my focus thin. In terms of the powers, I feel what u mean, but I think the symbiote powers are still WAY better than the spider leg ones, I legit only use Spider Rush whenever I have symbiote stuff unlocked and that’s only cause I get the symbiote version of that move through symbiote surge anyways lmao
I think the reason why the Raimi black suit is stuck with no symbiote abilities is because Insomniac messed up and made it a suit you get semi early into the game. Usually by the time you have the symbiote suit in the story mode, you’ll more than likely already have the raimi black suit and they couldn’t give you those abilities earlier, so they just went half way and gave him the regular suit stuff. Hell you could unlock the suit before you get the regular red and blue raimi suit.
God Kai’s voice is so good for Spider-Man because when he plays the clip where miles pops onto the roof in the new suit and he says “the fuck are you wearing” it fit so well
Tbh the combat update for me was solid, it was major Ultimate Alliance and X Men Legends vibes, which I take as a homage to some of the best superhero games that ever existed. 😅
SPOILERS ALERT! The combat felt much more difficult for me, and i loved it. As for the implementation of the gadgets, i felt that they were 'nerfed' significantly but i think that is good as in the old game i realised i always used it to take out 3-4 enemies with some of the OP ones, this forces me to engage in hand to hand combat much more. I do wish there was an ability to use my web shooters abit more than the limited 8 in game currently. Oh and whiilst PSM complained about the UI, i personally didn't have these issues and really liked how stream lined the combat was with gadget use, not opening up a "gta 5 style weapon wheel". Traversal is a god sent, really enjoyed it. Didn't really use the webwings much except from crossing the bodies of water. Whilst the map was larger, i felt some areas were not well integrated into the story or "made you really explore and appreciate the added areas", some side missions like the robot dog one was good in attempting to explore the suburbs and the woods. In terms of the plot, i was hoping it wouldn't have went with the "web of shadows" style of covering the entire city vibe, completing the game once before i felt maybe it was abit of a repeat. But everything leading up to it was pretty good imo. Additionally, i felt the story was a tad bit short with a few too many mary jane or peter walking parts. Overall, the game was a banger and i really enjoyed it whilst i got my 100%. I really hope there will be DLC even though there is no news on it yet. Waiting for New game plus currently to get a playthrough once more on ultimate. 9.5/10
i have 2 problems regarding suits: 1. With all the symbiotic suits/black & white variants of suit you get in this game, the need to really buy or wear any other suit wasn’t really there for me because while i was playing the story i rlly wanted to integrate the black suit into gameplay even when i wasn’t playing the story. 2. Miles new suit is pointless. Not talking about how it looks, or if miles would even wear something like. But the fact that they redesigned miles classic suit into a new suit (the suit you start the damn game with), made it completely separate and gave it its own variants. Just for it to be replaced. Peter is different because his redesigned suit IS his main one. The one miles gets js gets replaced as the main at the end and it feels kinda weird.

I loved this game. The parry was such a good decision, now my combat can be much more decisive, as in past games you had to dodged attacks and hope you zip the the enemy you were attacking previously and not a new one (assuming you are taking on a crowd of people) My only gripe is that ng plus should’ve come out with release, I was kinda sad that I couldn’t run through the game a second time after 100 percenting it. I also feel like you should be able to change the symbiote colours for the L1 attacks. They put loads of detail into the black suits and even made a custom IU for it, but seeing the white anti venom in the black suit doesn’t do it for me Overall, best game I ever played 10/10
4:45 They're not alternate designs. They're the same model, they're just recolored to fit with the suit colors. The FFH suit has white web wings therefore it's easier to just keep it as the default
My only issues with the game is that you can't switch back to using the black tendrils after completing the game, and that you can only use the antivenom parry no matter what suit you are wearing. It's a bit jarring going full Iron Spider only to have the tendrils pop up in the middle of combat
Yea, that Spider bot mission was a letdown. I thought he was at least gonna interact with some alternate Spider-Man or even Miguel, but nope, just some random cut character that nobody knows the name of.
I actually hate the exclusion of some of the gadgets like the Trip Mine or Impact Web. They make sense for stealth sections and Spider-Man would most definitely have a fucking Impact Web switch on his web shooters. Also, this is literally the only game where the Concussion Blast actually makes sense because it's not even a Concussion Blast for the later half of the game.
Odd how no popular reviewers talk about the bugs glitches and crashes of this game but there is a plethora of videos show casing all these things. Me and my 2 friends all had crashes in the game too... Never happened with the first game.

This game is the best game but I’ve experienced a lot of bugs and glitches. One some voice lines and sounds don’t play in a cutscene or during in gameplay, two I’ve been fighting the SAME FUCKING ENEMY FACTION AND I HAVEN’T SEEN THE NORMAL CRIMINALS AND THE CULTISTS!! I’ve also experienced some funny glitches.
I think if the evolved suit had webbing on the mask and just had the miles black and red it would be far better it’s not the word for even bad it’s too bland? Mabye this will be like advanced suit where in next game they make it a lot better due to feedback

As for me, or at least what I've seen, the symbiote invasion rips off Web of Shadows' entire plot while refusing to dive into the complexity of the Venom lineage, Klyntar diaspora, and - above all else, seeing as the game references him multiple times - Knull (bonus: ua-cam.com/video/TOfrPdJr8Zk/v-deo.html ); and I'm sad that Miles didn't get the symbiote treatment Insomniac said Peter would get (refer to my comment on the discussion starting at 8:01), though I understand if Miles didn't need it. 16:28 They could have done a better Anti-Venom Spider suit; the lenses are ripped off of the Anti-Ock suit - which rips off the Raimi lenses - and they don't express like the symbiote suits' eyes. As for the use of black, I don't know what to think beyond it doesn't feel exactly like Anti-Venom.

I did a one and then the other thing… which led to me completing Miles side quest trees while every time I’d switch to Peter, the thing I had to do was a main story mission cause the story puts so much focus on him. I do wish it was more even but the story does feel like it’s trying to correct for this whenever they actually focus on Miles, so I don’t hate it

i still think spiderman ps4 is my more favorite one but thats mostly because of the stellar story, im a sucker for the sinister 6 and it was a marvel to see a new spiderman game after so long
I just wish wearing the symbiote gave peter an entirely new move set. Like a more brutal one, I guess. everything felt mostly the same except for the abilities, which kinda got old pretty fast. And also, the finishers, which are kinda rare to even see.
The web wings weren't even broken as a feature, and venom isn't supposed to act human because he's a monstrous alien. Harry does seem lost from the story at the end but it was for the sake of his sickness and envy getting the better of him. Miles endgame suit looks like cotton candy. The swinging has been majorly improved, but I truly hope Insomniac considers upgrading the parkour system for the inevitable 3rd game. I had high hopes for parkour after the 2016 reveal trailer and was really underwhelmed by the execution. Firstly it should be a different button than R2, cause it makes mixing parkour with swinging too clunky. Secondly, I'd prefer if it was more involving than "run and hold the trigger". This could be achieved by an alternative button layout that you can switch on and off with the d-pad or something. I'm already imagining a side mission where a guy at the park wants to shoot a short film for a school project, and Spidey agrees to showcase his parkour abilities. Also this improved parkour could really spice up stealth levels as well
What I don't get is why did they remove the podcasts from the menu as well as the character bios and social media feed, all of these were in the last 2 games?????
one dumb part you didnt mention about the evolved suit is that miles chose the worst time to make and then wear it. insomniac could've at least shown him tinkering on it whenever we see him doing his college essay or entering the house during some side missions, but no, we only get the final result right before the climax of the game which happens to take place during a city wide lockdown in which he'd be really helpful at saving people??
What I found the most ironic about it was that, for me, I had JUST heard a JJJ podcast where he criticizes Peter for getting a new outfit while the city is in shambles (even though he didn't really have a choice lol). Then, right after that, I see Miles show up in his new outfit 😂

When i got the symbiote it didnt feel like a slight boost, it was a massive boost with more versatile abilities and a rage mode and that didn't let you take damage either from gun fire or melee attacks from enemies and with a boost in regular web fire and melee damage. When i switched over to miles i was like " aww man i dont get to bulldoze my enemies" but I still overall enjoyed both of them

Spider-Man Noir also has his own web wings, having the comic dotted pattern on it like the rest of the outfit, and Peter's Falcon costume has wings on the backpack instead of the underarm webs.
So in terms of unique web wings, Peter has 4 and Miles has 3.

9:00 I completely disagree, after getting the black suit all I could feel was a power high. It might've been since the first fight only uses the surge mode but even in swinging and stopping normal crimes it felt good, every time I switched out of the black suit id go back to it simply because of the vibe of combat.
I think that the problem with the new Miles suit is that it doesn’t really feel like something Miles would wear (to me at least.) I personally use it but only because it reminds me of my Spidersona suit.
I feel like if it had larger lenses, (like the one shown) and some red in the legs that it’d be much more loved and appreciated.

Kai, the Raimi suit had white webs coming out, which is why he doesn't have the black webbing when he thwips. However, the L1 and Triangle(or X) SHOULD be the symbiote boost for mid-air traversal.
I personally didn’t mind that you had the spider arm abilities before you got the symbiote because I found the symbiote abilities WAY more useful than the arm abilities
My only complaint is how little replay value there is, especially since mission/base replay and new game+ aren't in the game yet
Also i wish they kept in the ability to spawn in random crimes in the FNSM app that was in the miles morales game

i'd say this game is like a 9/10. only actual persistent flaws (not bugs or anything) was flint marko's voice acting, and the unidentified target missions, those are really annoying. Also, i feel like that the side missions could be much more expanded upon, but we will most def get elaborations in any form possible, either DLC or a new game. Super great game

I think the reason why they didn’t give the Raimi black suit black webbing was because in Spider-Man 3 You can see Peter, shooting, white webs and not black.

The reason why it's the BEST Spider-Man game for me is because of the amount of heart and passion was put into it. Insomniac wasn't trying to make a perfect game. They was trying to make the BEST Spider-Man game they could make using all their knowlege of Spider-Man. And that is worth praising.
One part that i enjoy about this game a lot is that you can actually feel the power creep, at first you can find yourself having a bit of trouble with some average goons or sand enemies if you weren't careful, but as you progress and get new gadgets, abilities and overall health and damage buffs, you start to take down weaker enemies in just 4 hits or less, then you get introduced to stronger enemies that take more effort to take down, once i started fighting symbiotes i realized i was barley getting through each encounter, so i went out and did a lot of side stuff and got tons of upgrades, after that it still wasn't easy, but i could tell that i had gotten more powerful.
My biggest issue aside from Kraven not holding me in his big manly arms has to be the Symbiote Behemoths. I KEEP HITTING THEM, AND THEY JUST DON'T GO DOWN! I CAN WASTE ALL MY ABILITIES ON THEM AND THEY'RE STILL STANDING! GO TO SLEEP ALREADY!

Miles' new suit reminds me a lot of Silk's, with the highlights being on the torso and the top of the head being exposed. I imagine the evolved suit was worked in to provide later narrative explanation to Silk's suit whenever she is properly introduced.
While I do still feel like the symbiote abilities were a lot more powerful than the arms, I feel like it would've been more impactful both gameplay and storywise if Peter didn't get the arms until after losing the suit. That way, Peter, and by extension the player, would feel like he's falling behind compared to Miles, and you'd feel like you get an even bigger power boost from the black suit. Then, after losing it, Peter makes the arms, using his scientific genius to boost his power himself, rather than relying on a freaky alien thingy. I was honestly shocked when Peter gets to use the arms in the first mission of the game, and thought that was a really odd decision.

I see your point but I feel similarly in the opposite way, start with the arms but make it clear they exist because he feels like he's falling behind by miles. Then after losing the symbiote, Pete should've unlocked some mad powerful Spiderarms ability that's inspired by the symbiote. I feel like antivenom is a cop out, while good for explaining why ingame he can still use symbiote powers, it sort of thematically goes against what the suit is, which is raw power at a spiritual cost. Weakens the impact a bit, even if antivenom spidey is fun
your nitpick is actually incorrect. Spider-Man had the web-wings since his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 and there were comics that featured him using them to glide. They eventually got rid of them, and everyone got used to him without them because it looked better.
I'm just saying, Insomniac should have made the web wings for the Iron Spider Suit be the repulser thrusters on his hands and feet...that'd be pretty sick. Also the FFH Final Swing suit uses the wrong shade of blue, instead making it teal for some reason

After playing the game and waiting for the big update coming in at some time in the future a lot of the costumes grew on me like miles new costume it’s just kinda fun to have but it kinda sucks that the deluxe suits only have the one color I understand the licensed ones because Sony and Disney has to approve the colors also I’m pretty sure the color options are just texture changes

I said in another video of yours. I really wish the spider arm abilities were instead replaced with web based abilities. This would show Peter as the more veteran Spidey using his webs in more creative ways and also wouldn’t look so out of place and obnoxious like the arms do.
The L1 + Square could be the same but he instead uses webs to pull little chunks of concrete out the ground and slaps up the enemy with them.
L1 + Triangle could be the same with Peter launching himself forward similar to the sling shot and twirling around using kicks and firing webs destroying everything in front of him
L1 + X could be the same but have Peter pull himself skyward with webs then proceeds to yoink up all those below him with webbing
And lastly, L1 + Circle could be replaced with Peter creating a massive “web wrecking ball” (for lack of better term) that he slams into the ground causing it to explode and web up all enemies in the immediate area. And if u upgrade it u can add fly back to the webbed up enemies so if ur in an alley they all fly onto and get stuck to the walls. OP as fuck but fun as shit in my eyes.
They're probably saving all the web-based abilities for Silk, either in DLC for this game or in the inevitable Spider-Man 3.
However, I agree with your sentiment; Peter's supposed to be the veteran here, so his in-game abilities & playstyle, as well as his canonical feats in the story, should reflect that. However, this also game seems to have a bizarre & *massive* hate-boner for Peter Parker, so he's not allowed to actually accomplish anything himself or be portrayed positively in his own game.
I see your point, but I feel like the arms DO showcase Peter's experience with this version specifically. We see in the first game that Insomniac's Peter has come up with a myriad of gadgets and various tools built into his suit that allow him to better fight crime. The arms are like the culmination of his life's work so far, as with a maxed skill tree, the arms are one catch-all tool that can pretty much accomplish everything that the gadgets of the first game could accomplish; the upgraded L1 Triangle ability acts like impact web, L1 X acts like the suspension matrix, L1 Circle acts like electric web from the first game (especially when upgraded), and the upgraded L1 Square even has a concussive blast at the end of the combo. The only things really missing are the web bombs and spider bots, which are more than supplemented by the gadgets.

Makes him look too goofy for me (big chunky metal arms coming out of a seemingly cloth suit. I know this isn’t a shared sentiment but at the end of the day it is what it is. From a gameplay standpoint they feel great and are fun to use but it’s just a nitpick I have.

My main problem with the suit is the context in which he creates the suit, its the end of the world practically and Miles thought you know what instead of saving people imma make a new suit. I definitely noticed a power difference with the black suit, especially with the rage mode that just absolutely annihilates. When I got the suit stripped away from me, I wanted it back so bad because of that one mode alone, but even the abilities felt stronger than the robo arms, even if it was mostly a visual difference there.
Personally, I like the robo arms. I think it adds a lot more to the combat, especially since the first game's combat system was so plain and easy. Taking them away would just make it seem like the first game to me, and I would feel pained to play Peter Parker to begin with. Why would I ever want to play Peter if Miles is the objectively better Spider-Man to play as? It makes no sense. While the arms were a bit clunky, I still did enjoy them, and the clunkiness adds to the impact of Peter getting the black suit for sure

But honestly, this is the best video I've seen on Spider-Man 2 so far. Your points weren't overly technical and I totally agree on pretty much everything you brought up, especially relating to Peter's weird arm thingies that make the symbiote not seem like that much of an upgrade.
Disagree about the gadgets. Almost all the gadgets from the first game are still in this one. Many of them have just been combined into one to cut out the gadget wheel and improve combat flow.
Impact Webs are an upgrade for the basic Web-Shooters and trigger automatically, Ricochet Webs function like better Web-Bombs, Fully upgraded Upshot is like Suspension Matrix, Spider-Bots and Electric Webs in one and Sonic Burst is a better Concussive Blast with a larger area of effect. The only gadget actually missing are the Web-Mines which is a shame but they are not really needed because stealth is not as much of a focus this time around (which is fine for me because it wasn’t all that fun anyway).
Overall I used the gadgets far more in this game than in the first because I didn’t have to pause the game to select them and found them a lot more useful and fun because they synergise well with other gadgets and your special abilities.
I do wish stealth gadgets like the trip mines were still in
I have two issues about this game.
1: when you equipment black venom suit the venom attacks are still white instead of being black
2: you can't change the time!
I think just saying the story is “ok” is kind of underselling it a bit. Feels like just complaining to complain. The writers did an insane job on making every characters story feel purposeful and earned over the last two games of storytelling. The character work is so good, and the way that insomniac sticks to past spidey lore while doing their own spin and portrayal on certain things keeps it fresh and unique to these games stories and world.

Peter’s L1 abilities would’ve made more sense with the surge abilities. E.g. as Peter, you don’t get any L1 abilities, but then you press L3+R3 to change your spider-man suit into the anti venom suit where you get the L1 abilities on stop of your increased strength & no damage taken. When I play I just get picky, when I’m wearing a spandex suit as Peter I don’t use L1 abilities at all and specifically use gadgets & combos to take enemies down. And I only use the spider arm abilities when I’m using an armoured design because I can’t help but get distracted when I use the spider arms on the homemade suit. Plus, I really hope there’s an update where you can switch between the black & white variants of the symbiote abilities because after the main story you’re locked out of the black suit abilities & are stuck with the anti venom equivalent & it bothers me more than it should.
This games a few updates from perfection imo, add ng+, replay story missions, replay hunter/symbiote bases, weather change, and change symbiote/arm color, and in general more activities or bases to do post story

my only complaint of the game is that the symbiote enemies at the end of the game. Don't get me wrong, those symbiote enemies are cool the first time around. But after fighting thems throughout all the symbiote nests mission and the last arc of the games. I am exhausted. Plus, why are they still here post game? They are tanky, tricky, and really forces you to play in a specific way at the end game. They hit like a truck too. This really stings. Otherwise, the game is fantastic! Waiting for DLCs.
My solution to Symbiotes and ESPECIALLY the brutes is just special attack spam. The big guy I just run right up to and Mega Venom Blast immediately when I’m playing Miles, or I just surge more through them as Peter. Can’t be bothered dealing with them. Hope fighting them is a little more balanced if they ever do Knull stuff given how much these Symbiotes are immediately connected to him
There's a couple gripes I have and that's mainly the non-inclusion of some things from the previous games
1. The gadgets from the previous games should be options like the abilities. I MISS the web bomb, trick wire, friggin impact web! Why are they gone? Sure certain web abilities make up for it, but it makes stealth missions a little boring
2. The costumes... nuff said
3. The podcasts. Half the time they're cut short bc of missions, so the fact i can't go back and listen to them is a bummer.

The arms suck compared to venom's powers. I definitely noticed a massive shift in Peter's abilities between having and not having symbiote powers.
For me personally the updated HUD wasn’t that frustrating, I just kinda through muscle memory just started remembering which buttons do which so I didn’t really need to spread my focus thin. In terms of the powers, I feel what u mean, but I think the symbiote powers are still WAY better than the spider leg ones, I legit only use Spider Rush whenever I have symbiote stuff unlocked and that’s only cause I get the symbiote version of that move through symbiote surge anyways lmao
I think the reason why the Raimi black suit is stuck with no symbiote abilities is because Insomniac messed up and made it a suit you get semi early into the game. Usually by the time you have the symbiote suit in the story mode, you’ll more than likely already have the raimi black suit and they couldn’t give you those abilities earlier, so they just went half way and gave him the regular suit stuff. Hell you could unlock the suit before you get the regular red and blue raimi suit.
God Kai’s voice is so good for Spider-Man because when he plays the clip where miles pops onto the roof in the new suit and he says “the fuck are you wearing” it fit so well
Tbh the combat update for me was solid, it was major Ultimate Alliance and X Men Legends vibes, which I take as a homage to some of the best superhero games that ever existed. 😅
SPOILERS ALERT!
The combat felt much more difficult for me, and i loved it. As for the implementation of the gadgets, i felt that they were 'nerfed' significantly but i think that is good as in the old game i realised i always used it to take out 3-4 enemies with some of the OP ones, this forces me to engage in hand to hand combat much more. I do wish there was an ability to use my web shooters abit more than the limited 8 in game currently.
Oh and whiilst PSM complained about the UI, i personally didn't have these issues and really liked how stream lined the combat was with gadget use, not opening up a "gta 5 style weapon wheel".
Traversal is a god sent, really enjoyed it. Didn't really use the webwings much except from crossing the bodies of water.
Whilst the map was larger, i felt some areas were not well integrated into the story or "made you really explore and appreciate the added areas", some side missions like the robot dog one was good in attempting to explore the suburbs and the woods.
In terms of the plot, i was hoping it wouldn't have went with the "web of shadows" style of covering the entire city vibe, completing the game once before i felt maybe it was abit of a repeat. But everything leading up to it was pretty good imo. Additionally, i felt the story was a tad bit short with a few too many mary jane or peter walking parts.
Overall, the game was a banger and i really enjoyed it whilst i got my 100%. I really hope there will be DLC even though there is no news on it yet. Waiting for New game plus currently to get a playthrough once more on ultimate.

i have 2 problems regarding suits:
1. With all the symbiotic suits/black & white variants of suit you get in this game, the need to really buy or wear any other suit wasn’t really there for me because while i was playing the story i rlly wanted to integrate the black suit into gameplay even when i wasn’t playing the story.
2. Miles new suit is pointless. Not talking about how it looks, or if miles would even wear something like. But the fact that they redesigned miles classic suit into a new suit (the suit you start the damn game with), made it completely separate and gave it its own variants. Just for it to be replaced. Peter is different because his redesigned suit IS his main one. The one miles gets js gets replaced as the main at the end and it feels kinda weird.

08:34 well, if they make peter weaker before the Venom suit, many of you guys would say stuff like "Oh man they nerf peter" or "man, peter is so weak compared to miles, which is absurd, because he is the senior and already a spiderman longer than miles, why they make peter so weak", like making peter weak is not the solution, or even him being as strong as the venom suit is also make sense. This one i gotta dissagree man, your solution is not fool proof.
The Venom abilities just FEEL more powerful than the legs
I loved this game. The parry was such a good decision, now my combat can be much more decisive, as in past games you had to dodged attacks and hope you zip the the enemy you were attacking previously and not a new one (assuming you are taking on a crowd of people)
My only gripe is that ng plus should’ve come out with release, I was kinda sad that I couldn’t run through the game a second time after 100 percenting it. I also feel like you should be able to change the symbiote colours for the L1 attacks. They put loads of detail into the black suits and even made a custom IU for it, but seeing the white anti venom in the black suit doesn’t do it for me

They're not alternate designs. They're the same model, they're just recolored to fit with the suit colors.
The FFH suit has white web wings therefore it's easier to just keep it as the default
My only issues with the game is that you can't switch back to using the black tendrils after completing the game, and that you can only use the antivenom parry no matter what suit you are wearing. It's a bit jarring going full Iron Spider only to have the tendrils pop up in the middle of combat
would have been easy to put a toggle in the settings like they do for the comic sfx and spiderverse frame rate
Yea, that Spider bot mission was a letdown. I thought he was at least gonna interact with some alternate Spider-Man or even Miguel, but nope, just some random cut character that nobody knows the name of.

I actually hate the exclusion of some of the gadgets like the Trip Mine or Impact Web. They make sense for stealth sections and Spider-Man would most definitely have a fucking Impact Web switch on his web shooters. Also, this is literally the only game where the Concussion Blast actually makes sense because it's not even a Concussion Blast for the later half of the game.
Miles classic suit is beauty. Its perfection especially insomaniac one. But the new suit sucks.
The physics changed in SM2 BTW with or without swing assist. Spider-Man feels heavier & gravity is much more realistic.
Odd how no popular reviewers talk about the bugs glitches and crashes of this game but there is a plethora of videos show casing all these things. Me and my 2 friends all had crashes in the game too... Never happened with the first game.

This game is the best game but I’ve experienced a lot of bugs and glitches. One some voice lines and sounds don’t play in a cutscene or during in gameplay, two I’ve been fighting the SAME FUCKING ENEMY FACTION AND I HAVEN’T SEEN THE NORMAL CRIMINALS AND THE CULTISTS!! I’ve also experienced some funny glitches.
I think if the evolved suit had webbing on the mask and just had the miles black and red it would be far better it’s not the word for even bad it’s too bland? Mabye this will be like advanced suit where in next game they make it a lot better due to feedback

Wouldve been better if Peter beat Miles in their fight and his suit got destroyed and Miles makes a newer suit to better accomodate his new powers. Gives the suit meaning to the the narrative and actual PURPOSE😂🤷♂️

16:28 They could have done a better Anti-Venom Spider suit; the lenses are ripped off of the Anti-Ock suit - which rips off the Raimi lenses - and they don't express like the symbiote suits' eyes. As for the use of black, I don't know what to think beyond it doesn't feel exactly like Anti-Venom.

Miles was my favorite part. I played as him as much as I could and switched it up with Peter for his side quests and whatnot.
I did a one and then the other thing… which led to me completing Miles side quest trees while every time I’d switch to Peter, the thing I had to do was a main story mission cause the story puts so much focus on him. I do wish it was more even but the story does feel like it’s trying to correct for this whenever they actually focus on Miles, so I don’t hate it

Edit: Also the overall game reminded me the most of Shattered Dimension (with Web of Shadows in the end in the look and final fight) with it's characters, mechanics, combos, villians, multiverse reference, multiple Spider-men and all that
i still think spiderman ps4 is my more favorite one but thats mostly because of the stellar story, im a sucker for the sinister 6 and it was a marvel to see a new spiderman game after so long

I just wish wearing the symbiote gave peter an entirely new move set. Like a more brutal one, I guess. everything felt mostly the same except for the abilities, which kinda got old pretty fast. And also, the finishers, which are kinda rare to even see.
The web wings weren't even broken as a feature, and venom isn't supposed to act human because he's a monstrous alien. Harry does seem lost from the story at the end but it was for the sake of his sickness and envy getting the better of him. Miles endgame suit looks like cotton candy. That's about all I can other to counter with this video

The swinging has been majorly improved, but I truly hope Insomniac considers upgrading the parkour system for the inevitable 3rd game. I had high hopes for parkour after the 2016 reveal trailer and was really underwhelmed by the execution. Firstly it should be a different button than R2, cause it makes mixing parkour with swinging too clunky. Secondly, I'd prefer if it was more involving than "run and hold the trigger". This could be achieved by an alternative button layout that you can switch on and off with the d-pad or something.
I'm already imagining a side mission where a guy at the park wants to shoot a short film for a school project, and Spidey agrees to showcase his parkour abilities. Also this improved parkour could really spice up stealth levels as well
What I don't get is why did they remove the podcasts from the menu as well as the character bios and social media feed, all of these were in the last 2 games?????
