    Calculator trick is one that seems easiest to guess how it is done. When he is handed the phone, he subtly presses "=" once again. That will add the "code" again to the previous result. He has probably trained shit ton of mental math, so he subtracts whatever he saw on the phone as first sum from the second number that he only glances for a second. Once he knows the code , he prearranges the four cards and then forces those cards pretty obviously on Huberman. He didn't really choose random cards, he was handed four specific cards. Forcing stuff is always so wild, it seems like a huge gamble but seems to work everytime.

    • @nApucco
      @nApucco 6 місяців тому +66

      Almost: He doesn't even need to do any math. Pressing C and then = reveals the secret code immediatly. The rest is correct. Increadible forcing skills. And for some reason it always works.

    • @SINQUEFIELD83
      @SINQUEFIELD83 6 місяців тому +2

      To make such a comment, I am guessing you know how the tricks's were done?
      Hypothetically, let's assume that Asi used real magic to perform these tricks. Wouldn't you agree that real magic is far more impressive than just a "trick."
      Because you assume it is a trick, you are trying to judge the merits of trick from a position of ignorance rather than a position of knowledge. With that being said, do you have the proper knowledge to be able to distinguish real magic from just a trick? Or are you just assuming it is a trick and judging it on creativity and presentation?
      IMO, before someone critiques a trick, they must prove it is a trick first, then that person can judge from a position of knowledge. @robbiereekie3694

      @twatmunro 6 місяців тому

      Asi's a fantastic magician. Is he the best alive? He's a contender, but it really depends on what you value in your magic. It doesn't really make any sense to say 'he's the best'. He's not the best performer. He's not the best card handler. He's not the best mentalist. David Blaine thinks he's the best though, and Blaine's in a better position to make that judgement than I am.

    "Trick" at 10:39 revealed:
    They have boom mics above their heads to record sound and in the wide angle shots the upper 20% of the screen are comped in. Huberman happened to move his hands into the comped in area when doing the "mind blown" motion. In editing they had the choice between removing the comp (and showing the Mics in the process) or letting his hand "disappear" for half a second. They choose to go with the latter. Easy! 😅

      nice spot. My best guess is that it has something to do with the flash. It's broad daylight, the regular camera app woudln't trigger the flash. That can't be a coincidence. He must've turned it on on purpose. That also explains why the camera angle switches as he takes the picture. The wallet is a "magic wallet" that somehow reacts to the flash and makes the card visible on the picture - Remember, it's Asi's wallet, not Hubermans. The card that will appear is predetermined and the real trick is then to make Huberman guess that exact card. No idea how he does that though.

    • @puupipo
      @puupipo 6 місяців тому +5

      @@JB_inks Took me a minute to think that through but my best guess is that the wallet has a screen where the card should appear and a light sensor, and when the flash from the camera hits the sensor the screen quickly flashes the image of the card so that it shows up on the photo.Then it's just a matter of "forcing" the person to pick that card which is something that I know good card magicians can do.

He had him think of the 3 of diamonds, and tell him, then he stalls, finds it with the deck face down somehow and then sneaks it in the wallet when he asks him to draw card halfway out the first time. It's the only time he's touching the wallet with the deck and his hands as obstruction so it has to be then. The execution and slight of hand is still baffling though. The rest is just showmanship.

    Unfortunately I have no idea how Asi forces or keeps track of the J❤-I suspect something happened during the bit that was cut. When Wind takes out the cards, a 4 is the bottom card. When he fans them out, it is a different card. I would need to see what he did with the cards and know what he said to Andrew during that time.
    However, from 0:45 onward:
    - He takes back the cards. Immediately he staggers the deck , marking the location of the _target card_
    -He carefully pushes the deck to Huberman using only his thumb to push from the very bottom of the deck. It keeps the cards from shifting, retaining the stagger. This is cleverly performed as a gesture meant to convey the sincerity with which Asi does not desire to manipulate the cards.
    -He starts cutting packets of cards off the top. Ideally he wants the participant to stop him right as he picks up the last of the staggered portion of the deck. To help with this, he uses a clever little signaling trick. After a few cuts, he picks up the rest of the staggered portion of the deck in a noticeably larger chunk of cards and slaps them down with ~20% more force than the others.
    -the participant says stop because they are being subtlety pressured into doing so. 1, an unexpected number of cards were just cut and at the new rate the participant feels they are at risk of failing to complete their single task and 2, slapping them down on the table instantly prompts humans to question whether the table-slapper is becoming impatient.
    -Asi stops, _seemingly_ in the middle of moving a packet that is in fact a single card. He asks Andrew if he should move it or put it back, but it’s too late! He has already cheated and put the card back without permission. Huberman tells him he wants them moved, _but Asi corrects him_ “we’ll move one more.”
    -Alas, this too is a lie. Right now, Wind knows that the top card of the pile he’s cutting off is the Jack, and he’s holding the last staggered card. If you tell him to finish moving the cards, he _doublelifts_ the top 2 cards and puts them on top of the right stack.
    -If he says 2nd card, you let the participant draw the card on their own and the effect is amazing. If he says first card (which I assume is uncommon) then Asi has to reveal the card himself and use another doublelift.
    - _however_ if the participant says not to move the pile then you simply leave them as they are, with a junk card on top and the Jack as the 2nd card. The only difference is now you do the finale with the other stack of cards. Now the stack of remaining cards is all setup rather than the stack of cut cards.

On the phone screen, we don’t see any card at first, but after he takes the picture he taps the gallery to open it, there’s a brief moment when he’s putting the phone on the table, and you can see the card is already in the picture (7:12). The flash makes the card visible. However, he never shows the screen to Huberman after making the picture. What remains a mystery to me is how he got Huberman to choose the exact card that was already there.

      @@isakekelund Well, I didn't make the video myself of course, but it is a very common technique for masking a mic. There's no reason to suspect anything else.
      In any case, Asi Wind is a famous magician, you can search youtube for other tricks by him, or you can even sign up for a magic course by him or buy his tricks.
      So, I have no reason to think this was accomplished by any camera trickery (except for the phone camera trick obviously), or that Andrew was playing a stooge in any way.

    Best magic is when Huberman makes his hand disappear above his head. 10:39

      That is actually a useful trick. The microphone hangs above his head and it is masked in editing with footage they took of the empty wall. This specific camera must stay still through the whole show or else you'll see the wall move except for the part that is masking the mic.

    For photo case unfortunately the most important piece of evidence is cut out from the movie. It is the moment the camera flashes and we only see the other side, not what was really taken. We only a moment before or after.
