Today Researcher R. will be reviewing a transcript of a conversation that took place between a member of the SCP Foundation Ethics Committee Member and Doctor [REDACTED].
The Ethics Committee is an independent department responsible for reviewing containment procedures and checking conducted experiments for excessive waste or inappropriate use of Class D employees and other resources.
They are the conscience of the organisation and one of the most powerful groups within the SCP Foundation.

The ethics committee is making sure that things stay humane. Yes, they permit horrendous things to occur to anomalies, because it is needed to do things in the best way possible for everyone.
GOC Agent: Hey, my inside man says the SCP has an ethics committee too!

Considering that Ethics Committee has access to all uncensored experiments of all SCPs. That is pretty much alot of power.
That would put them just under the administrator and 05 in terms of power and knowledge.

Actually being on the Ethics committee is a Safe job in comparison to the rest of the jobs available in the Foundation
But they know everything that's redacted/expunged, which would scar most to the point of suicide. Probably takes a guy with nerves of steel to know exactly what SCP-447 does to dead bodies

Are you kidding, have you ever had a stare down with a researcher like dr. bright after telling him no to some idea he came up with? How safe do you think it was when we had to present him with "the massive list of things dr. bright is not allowed to do in the foundation." Most dangerous job in existence; I'd hate to tell you what's been redacted from that incident...
TL;DR: Bodily, yes probably safer. Mentally? Even more danger.
Safe is relative when it comes to the Foundation. Is it safer then being a regular researcher? Sure, most of the time. But you're also introducing yourself to a whole host of new dangers, and as a consequence of having access to all unredacted documents, you need to be firmly acquainted with both the memetic and anti-memetic departments. Not to mention all the stress of still having to keep all of those and the contents of this video a secret.

I love the idea that the Ethics Comitee is actually the most powerful and influential departement of the Foundation
It's not that they're "the most powerful", they're a check and balance to the O-5, which granted, is probably the most powerful group in the foundation and possibly the world. So a check to them would make the EC also extremely powerful.
@@McGrewer no ethics Committee is more powerful they have a MTF that is just as powerfull alapha 1 Ethics Committee can kill 05s and demote them and detain them and they have more veto power then the 05 conucil WHICH MAKES THEM POWERFULL 05 IS TRASH DOG WATER

Is more like they are kryptonite to the O-5 council
They exist to counter and keep in check a very specific threath and so they been specialized towards said task
So against other threaths they dont perform remotly as well

They are not the "the most powerful", and the other people who previously replied are also wrong. They make it seem like the Ethics Committee and the O5 Council are equally matched. They are not. In almost all canons, the O5 Council holds considerably more authority, if not entirely unmatched. In one canon, an O5 member publicly shot the E.C. Chairman. The only reason why the Committee has any power at all is due to the backing of the Administrator.

The ethics committee is one of the safest jobs in the scp foundation but they are hated by the rest of the foundation workers they fill like there there to make life harder for them...lol

Me: I just happen to know evil and am doing my best to be good. I wouldn't consider myself a good person, more pragmatic with a thick skin... with a mean streak more often than I want. I don't want this. I don't see myself here as a good thing.

Me: I don't think I'll get along with anyone on the team.
Ethics Committee Boss: Actually, you'd fit right in. Well, none of you will be in total harmony but that's the purpose of such a committee.

I think it's as real or not as the individual SCP write up demands personally. Some elements of the Foundation are unclear/malleable on purpose and the Ethics Committee is one of them.

So the ethics committee is exactly what it sounds like. They are not playing meek and ineffectual very well if people start to freak during a meeting with them. Especially if people know it could end with termination. Or worse, a pay cut.

I like how the video is interactive even though the film is being run from the spool of an old style projector. That probably really ups the intimidation factor for the guy watching it. They must use precogs to make the videos or something for each person they show the video to.
Love the fact that they get to see all the redacted info would be amazing to be picked go through all the Redacted info on any SCP (I know the foundation is a fictional organization)

I know I do, I don't recall *ANY* instance of The Foundation even having the concept of ethics; yes I understand that they're pretty much the only thing keeping our understanding of everything as we know it from Thanos snapping away and they contain entities that are a complete threat to humanity. But from a outsider with a heart of gold (or so I've been told) point of view; their treatment of the D-class (I don't care their death row inmate, they're still human; I'll explain myself about that part if you want me too), their employees, the average joe and to the legitimately good SCPs, saying they need to be exterminated is an under statement in my book.
Edit: Okay, I will admit; I was quick to question the whole thing and should've waited until the end to make this comment. Still think it's a bit of a joke, but not the joke I thought it was at first; I could go on another rant, but I'll stop here, bye.

Yes, but at the same time 05s are rarely unanimous, so a good point made by the committee could swing theoretical vote in their favour ;)
