I have come to the conclusion that you were an empath. You need to take precautions when you go into a haunted areas. Your videos are the most awesome in the world. I love watching you.❤
Dave my dad and his family was ashamed of me and when they would have party or there friend would visit they would rush me up stairs because I was born with cerebral palsy. it took a long time to realize I was worth something. Sadly, in 70s and 80s that how they delt with special needs children. My Mom side of the family treated me like I was a normal child. 💋💋💜💜🐶stay safe, huge hugs and thankyou
Jane, I'm so sorry that was done to you. It is sad but so very true that they did this to family members who like yourself has cerebral palsy, others who also have mental health issues, and other health problems like autism that they didn't really have diagnosed yet back in the day. I hope and pray you were not to effected mentally by that and were able to over come any trauma it may have caused you. My best friends son has cerebral palsy, he is 38 now but has the mentality of I would guess a15 year old. God bless you Jane and take care. Much love from Oergon USA 🇺🇸 😊 ❤ OH, and that was AWESOME for your Mom's side of the family to treat you normally. Sad that everyone didn't do that. 😢 As long as you know that you are an amazing normal person, thats what matters most... ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your Worth As A Human Being Is Bigger Than The Whole Wide World! Do Not Ever Allow Anyone To Make You Feel Any Less. You Are Beautiful And Perfect In The Eyes Of Our Lord! Shame On Dave Your Father..And Family! Judgement Day Will Come For Them..❤️❤️
I have 2 kids who have autism and I couldn’t imagine treating them this way. I have gotten angry at strangers stares, rude comments, laughing etc. Any sort of disorder or anything that makes someone different doesn’t make them less. Family should never be embarrassed to have someone they love present when guests visit. For me If the guests don’t like it then they can leave.
Yep anyone with mental problems etc. were hidden away. They were ashamed of them. It would have been terribly difficult for the parents. But some would have been dangerous. Out of sight out of mind. Hasn't changed that much. Great video thankyou. 😢❤🇦🇺
This one broke my heart mate. I can imagine the father's desperation and fear and heartache. Can feel the young girls confusion and frustrations and fear. Ive worked in my 20+ years nursing in palliative care, aged care, mental health and disabilities. Ive heard all the horror stories of how not just those suffering these things but also on how families with children who were suffering these ailments were treated. Families were shamed and ostracized. Just horrific all round. And having to do it all alone after his wife passed... how could one lock up their child... causing even more mental health issues. God Bless x A hauntingly historical story though. Thank You for your kind heart and sharing x much love xx
17.35 You guys are completely wrong about the use of these places. No one was locked up in there. These are called Alcove beds. An alcove is a small recessed section of a room. In Dutch these are called bedstede or bedstee. These alcoves were used especially in farms. It a place to sleep. In 16th and 17th century these were smaller ( people were sleepin g partially upright, lying was for the dead). Most of these were for 2 persons. These were built within the living room.In the daytime closed by doors ( no one can see that they are there). No bedroom needed.Other advantage is in wintertime it is heated by bodytemperature , just a small space so keeps warm.No heating needed to stay warm.At night the door was not complete closed but left ajar.
Lock on the door is like the old tall Victorian cupboard beds a bed top a bed bottom for servants. They were built to look like a cupboard with lock. When you got up you would lock it so others or guess wouldn't accidentally open it up..
That room… bothers me. Not because of some haunting, because of the desperation it would take as a parent to resort to that. There’s a bed in there, so they obviously cared enough to give them a comfortable place to be. The poor child was born in an era where behavioral issues were not as well understood or treated. How utterly hopeless they all must have felt.
You're not the only one who loves old glass bottles. I love them too, especially the kind used for medicine from the 1800's and early 1900's. I'd collect them too.
I have a 1800’s baby bottle that I found some 45 years ago with the original nipple intact ( although it was rock hard and brittle) I can’t remember where I put it anymore ( I am 76 and medication has ruined my memory 😢) age and medication can truly mess up your memory 😭
My guess is that today, the neighbors fear it becoming a 'tourist attraction' hence why they become kind of angry, which would confirm misgivings at this unfortunate family home. Very sad. Great video Dave 👍
You capture everything in the most beautiful way, if I ever have to leave my home and it became abandoned and my life was no longer here to be remembered, I would really want you to visit my home and share whatever there would be left of my story there wouldn't be anyone else that could do it as beautiful as you do xxxx
Energy is everything, everything is energy 💫 When you explore these places you are definitely feeling residual energy from past residents & the things that happened within the building.
the lock on the "hidden bedroom" is locking from the inside! not outside. nothing so creepy, actually, it was common in many European houses- to have such beds, hidden in "closets" for warmth in winter.
I don't think there's ever any "clickbait" used to draw people to watch a video. The room was what it was but you are entitled to your opinion. And to be fair the bed door lock was most likely just an error. I did not notice it but I do think that there was mention that a key was needed to unlock it? Nevertheless, thanks for pointing both the lock and it being common to keep warmth in during the winter. Where I live we never see harsh winters and sometimes can go without heat at all. So that would have never crossed my mind.
@Sunshine 🌠 Sunshine 🌠 When I posted my comment this morning, there was the original post, your post, and another post which said something like "this channel is notorious for posting clickbait" and the original poster replied to it agreeing with what it said. I am not exactly sure where your post was at (before or after - I assume before) but it seems someone deleted the comments since I brought it out. I was not implying, I was stating facts as the word CLICKBAIT was used nor was I suggesting anything other than they were wrong. As for the original posters comment, I clicked on reply and saw the other messages to thank him for pointing out it was common for beds to be kept like that and you've read the rest. I should have posted directly to them but I'm glad I didn't because obviously they didn't want it to be recognized or pointed out. It had to be the commentor because he is the only one that can delete his comment other than Dave or one of the moderators and it would/should remove the person who replied (the original poster in this matter who agreed). I wouldn't have wanted mine removed because even though the comment was deleted I pointed it out. It's pretty cowardice to call someone out and delete your words instead of standing by them. I've watched this channel since 2018 and would never create fictitious topics to create drama but I will call someone out if I think it's wrong in a nice way. Especially on this channel and regarding Dave, much respect to him!
I think you are right. In Dutch farmhouses they had “bedstee” or alcôve (lit) where they placed beds. Indeed for warmth. Draws for patatoes we’re under the bed and a shelf above with a crib for the new baby! Cosy I’d say but there could be alternative reasons for the bed in the cubboard. If your story is correct it would indeed be soo sad.
What a gorgeous walk. Everything is green and lush. The birds singing in the background what a beautiful day. It truly is puzzling that the literally wrote on the walls. Why would any one have beds set up in a restroom? I'm with you Dave, this house gives off crazy vibes. Love you Dave, please stay safe in your travels.
Wonderful place! He wouldn't have been hiding her away or locking her up I don't believe quite the opposite. He was into Montessori is a method of children learning at their own pace using their own interests and encouraging independent thinking far from oppressing and the indoctrinated education taught in schools as such. Is very progressive actually and uses Nature a lot for learning and problem solving
hopefully she's getting the proper treatment and care she needs, it feels so strange she was hidden away in the 80's I feel like people should of been past doing that then its something you expect in the victorian times, her little cupboard is so sad brilliant and sad video, looking forward to the rest of the France trip
You are thinking the worst…. You have no idea of what was going on… Maybe she felt secure in a room like that maybe she violent and had to be put in a room for her safety and theirs
MABEY THE PERSON HAD A BAD SLEEP.....WALKING....DISORDER. AND THEY GOT TIRED OF FINDING THEM FARE FROM HOME..... I.D.K. BUT WOW WHAT A PLACE. ANOTHER WONDERFUL VIDEO DAVE.😊👍
That game is a 'French frog game'. you throw discs into openings on top which lead to different numbered sections below, person with most points wins, these old ones sell for a lot of money!
Dave, as always a wonderful place. Back in the day they would hide away family who had disabilities, mental health issues, cerebral palsy, ETC.. sad but true. It sounded like a faint hello of a man around 9:50 into this. Miss seeing Mark, hope all is well with him. I always love the respect you show these homes and families of the homes. Thank you for taking us on another amazing explore. Stay safe always, MUCH LOVE FROM OERGON USA 🇺🇸 ❤
No creepy vibes. Just a beautiful home with a sad history. The daughter probably had special needs and the dad wasn’t equipped to handle the situation. I’m hoping she’s finally getting the proper and professional help she needed.
1802-2002 it said on the wall so it was built back in 1802.. this house would have been spectacular back then with such beautiful grounds surrounding it.. sad it wasn’t maintained.
I didn't get a creepy feeling at all from this location :-) I think the cupboards look hidden because that's the style of the home. And I think the quotes in the wall are from literature. The handwriting is nice and consistent I think they're just quotes? Love it all no matter what :)
What a strange place! So much energy, I heard a man whisper hello @9:51. Thank you for the video Dave & all the hard work you do to keep us entertained xx
Dave, this house was so strange, but so cool at the same time. The way it was built is very strange in itself, the hidden doors everywhere, the writings, the number of beds! The tower! Could you imagine being the gas company, going there to fill the tank!!😳
It was common in the old days for people to keep disturbed family members locked in a room for their own safety and the safety of others. It seems a very cruel thing to do in modern thinking but: the alternatives available back then were even worse. The institutions were horrific and you would likely never see your relative again.
At 16:16 wall kind reads "You have to believe, of course, believe in yourself" "Here I don't feel the loneliness who knows?" "I may not like alone?" and "God helps those who get up early" in Spanish. above bed it says "Around 6am seeing the sky almost level the mist the unchanging horizon line is an impressionist" "Invited Sisyphis to cease its frame of with reason life his happiness". Who ever did write mix up french spanish and Greek mythology. My office went oddly cold well try to make out words
Property tax can be super high and if income ceases often leaving everything behind is the only option. Sad but often true. Really interesting video though end appreciate the genuine time and effort put into them!
When I've explored places & done ghost hunts, I completely understand that feeling of being watched, you feel out of place in some what & you feel like your doing something completely wrong. When it has a story like this you definitely feel the anguish that surrounds the house. 😲😲
This is a fantastic find. This was very unique. Creepy, disturbing, mysterious but interesting. Well done. I enjoy your videos. Sahar Hussain from Dallas, Texas.
I am a bit at a loss for the right words. It was one of the most interesting explores. I can not wrap my mind around why in that decade you would lock a child in a room and in a bed. Even with mental health issues. Of course only in the past 15 years or so we have become more open about mental health here in the USA but I know it wasn't all that tabboo in the late 80's and early 90's. Collette was born in 1986. My guess would be she was locked in when she was too big to physically control (5-10 maybe) which would be in the 90's. And the handwriting on the walls, was precise, correct and legible in cursive-making me believe a teenager wrote it. It screamed educated. And to put it right off the kitchen makes no sense if you were hiding her because of behavior, surely she would have been heard. Could it have been something else that made them lock her in there? I felt a sense of melancholy during the explore. Probably due to her situation. Maybe they left after the room was discovered and she was taken into the institution by the government? I don't know how the government works in France. Thanks for another great exploration. It reminds me of the book Jane Eyre which takes place in the 1800's. Take care. stay safe & God bless! xoxo💞Kat
The hidden beds were comin back then not seen or heard privacy for sleeping. Prayers to you Dave for safe travels:). Happy Holidays 12-14-22 Love you loads too:) Love your friend Florida, USA
Dave sisters use to live here and those are bible and daily reminders for the ladies daily living and for visitors when they come! 1 of them had a child .
This house would have been amazing back in the day. It’s very sad it’s been left to fall to bits, very sad story too. I really like your style of exploring, you are very caring and considerate of the places you visit. I’m hooked on your channel. Thank you for your amazing explorations, it’s fascinating to see these time capsules, such a shame you can’t rescue the lovely things that will inevitably be destroyed. Massive house, one time it must have been a hive of activity. I think the room in the kitchen would have been for the cook originally and then later on a convenient place for an afternoon nap.
Great Video 😊 Shane the family had to go through an illness with one of their children n the mom passing gets me to thinking of the child the one that has had some kind of health problems didn't write them scriptures on the wall or poems whatever they r bless them . I hope they're somewhere safe n happy . Bless u all be safe on ur journeys exploring. N ur Family's n Friends n animals n Loved One's .... 😇
Ive seen this video through ewf, josh and seths! But love your version you are such an empath and know so much more about the history through your video, i have a sister who has learning difficulties and growing up in the 80s wasnt easy with peoples opinions and views, thanks for making these videos! 💜
Hi Dave, what a creepy old house this one is. With the writing on the walls and beds in the bath? never seen anything like beds in the bath before and the swinging lamp in the hall way. It just seams odd that they would write weird quotes all over the bedroom wall. The beautiful parts was the grounds and scenery around the house. Thank you for taking us on a tour of this creepy old house. Stay safe, take care and can't wait to see your next video.
I so love watching these and hearing the stories of the families but I feel sad and Conflicted that what they left behind shouldn't be saved to continue their stories
howdy mate love your channel was watching the alchemist house with exploring with fighters jajaja awesome brugh your bad ass keep bringing us sum good captions your one of the best at this shout out from California mate
The Montessori method of education is a system of education for children that seeks to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal teaching methods. So it's not as sinister as you might think. Because it appears that some rooms were used for classrooms it may be that you have found a small Montessori School. This type of education is used extensively with the handicapped and persons with mental disorders. It also appears from the use by date of 2004 there have been squatters.
Dave I wanted to say that I really enjoy your new mates that go with you. With that said I’m wondering how Markie is doing? Also I’m worried about your breathing. Does not sound good. When’s the last time you had your lungs checked out from breathing all this bad stuff. Just a concerned mom and Grammie. I worry about all you guys and say a prayer for all of you. After watching for so long you kind of become like family in a weird sort of way. All for now. I’m glad you’re out of that house. Something truly evil there. I’m thinking it was the little girl.
How weird is that place? It is definitely odd and off. It did look wonderful once upon a time but like everything it decays and goes back to nature. Great find and a really good explore 🌷
11:11 That thing with the frog on top is a game where you throw thick brass coins from a distance into the holes. Each hole has a different score (depending on the difficulty). The frog usually has the highest score... 15:53 If you look at the first letter of each word, it says 'Atelier', which means it's a creative work space. The bed behind that door is probably where he has a nap and not so much a place to lock someone up, LOL.
Writing on the door at 15:41 is an acrostic poem. Read vertically it spells out ATELIER which means 'worlshop'. Each word across translates as 'Love, Translate, And, Read, Innovate, And, React. Some sort of motto or motivational words. :)
Ooo yay!!! I was in the middle of watching this the 1st time when it was taken down. Hopefully that doesn't happen again! I'm skipping ahead to where I was the first time so I hope it's not edited differently and I don't miss anything.
I never got to see the first time went to click on a bout 1pm or so and it was gone off you tube .you tube getting worst on these things or something would have watched it first when it dropped but it was gone. Thanks dave for all you do for us you rock dave love from all of us here ✌👍........................
@@paulahartley7129 I clicked on it about 5 minutes after he posted it and was 15 minutes in and it just stopped and said "video unavailable". I was glad he decided to upload it again and not wait til tomorrow. UA-cam is getting to be a bit ridiculous.
Mardi is Tuesday in English. Such a great find and what a backstory. The light fixture swinging was someone letting you know they know you are there. I'm bilingual in French but couldn't see anything close enough to translate on the walls.. Aimer = Like Traduire = Translate Lire = Read Innover = Innovate Reagir = React. Turpentine
The french just like the english never let neighbours know that there were disable or mentally ill children or adults in the house, it's just the way it was back in the day. If she had strangled her brother but was under aged where would they have put her! Sad the mother died, but maybe the strain of looking after a child with severe behaviour problems sent her to poor health early in life. Very sad. I agree the fashion was to wallpaper over doors and make the walls look flush, that was the fashion back in the day. If the daughter is still alive and there is no trace if the father, even if she is in a mental hospital she still owns the house and land. Maybe the neighbours are protective because they admired the mother and father and perhaps the son was a nice boy. Thank you for this one 💕🇦🇺
I love watching our Abandoned World Explorer old mansion and keep it up bro from the and I love it brother and from new Zealand 🇳🇿 are so funny 😆👍and I love it and watching our video
Amazing house, such a beautiful location. So hard to really know what happened in these houses but people will always look for a sad story however this was very strange. Thanks again for a wonderful exploration.
It seems typical of French estate homes to have closets that are wallpapered over. (Rather than having wardrobes, they'd have these discrete closets). Very clever. The one with the lock is definitely unusual. Great videos, by the way! Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Dave, what a strange house it must of felt creepy looking around the place. So so sad locking your child away in a cupboard,I am so glad that she is in a safe place now and being looked after. It looked like it was a nice house in it’s time, all the writing on the walls was creepy but so sad.Thankyou Dave I really enjoyed watching this one,you could feel the creepy vibe’s so how did you feel being there.Stay safe Dave, and thank you for taking us with you.❤️❤️❤️
This place was so spooky, and yet very sad.... You could almost feel the struggles that the family had.. The melancholy of losing the mom and then having to deal with a child that you didn't know what to do to help them... Thank you for this explorer this place was very interesting. Oh and I also loved that cool looking game with the frog on it... I wish I knew some history on that!
Dave bedrooms often had side entrances in in France to climb in but the double beds often sit in the recess. the lock was outside but looks like the old yale locks which can be opened from within. Stay safe. B
Writing on the walls? A bed hidden by a locked fake wall? 2 beds upstairs in a bathroom? So many questions. This place is really creepy but it made for a great explore. Thank you for the information about bats, that's something I had never heard of.
What an ace time capsule but a creepy place at the same time with a sad story to boot hope the daughter is somewhere getting the help shes needs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ x
I can't imagine the heaviness you felt in there! Thanks for all you do 💕 I wonder about the design.. something ominous, or the hidden room some sort of meditation haven. Interesting place fo sho
Hey Dave, another great find. This is an odd one for sure. A lot of beds for a family of four, maybe they took in boarders. who knows, what I find fascinating is even though 2001 was 20 years ago it's still in the 21st century and a lot of these old homes look like they are from the 20th century, from the furniture to the electrics, even the medicine bottles, I understand that these houses are sometimes centuries old themselves, but nobody modernizes them. Probably financial or they just like old homes, I do as well, that's what makes your exploring exciting, I do know bats are protected in France. Love this video, love to Marky. Love from NY
I have come to the conclusion that you were an empath. You need to take precautions when you go into a haunted areas. Your videos are the most awesome in the world. I love watching you.❤

Right like the old trains sleeper births or beds..

Awesome house to explore . It’s sad to think they may have locked a child away . I hope the person is ok today and living a good life .
Hidaway beds.... some tall tall looking cupboards use to have double beds in them, a top and bottom bed.. kinda like in old train sleeper beds..
Very exciting house have a lot stuffs very beautiful exciting video thank you for sharing it God bless everyone
This house is so cool. I am glad you found it. I feel horrible for the child who grew up in the house. Yet, that is how they were treated.

Correct. In Mexico they have almost the same cast iron frogger points game.

I wonder if maybe they tried to hide some of the Jews during World War 11
So sad and once again a lovely house left to rot . Thank you for showing us Dave . X
Incredible time-capsule! Really awesome! 👍
The chandelier moving was creepy but cool Ty for sharing and your all so respectfully it's refreshing.
This explore broke my heart. Can you imagine having to fear/hide your own child??What a sad home. As always much love from West Virginia ❤️ 💙
I used to live in west Virginia
I grew up in Kanawha County.
The room w/the quotes was called a disappointment room, where people would hide family members in that where handicapped.
Lovely house surrounded by mystery perfect explore well done dave and mates xx
Thanks dave for another great explore 👌 a very strange house take care my friend much love 💘❤ 💘
This was an Amazing find,Creepy and sad that .Would have loved to have seen it years ago.Bet it was Beautiful.
How many years have you been doing videos? I truly appreciate you sharing your videos with everyone. I love y'all ✌️😇☕💯💖💯🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
When I've explored places & done ghost hunts, I completely understand that feeling of being watched, you feel out of place in some what & you feel like your doing something completely wrong. When it has a story like this you definitely feel the anguish that surrounds the house. 😲😲
Great video as always! Definitely an intriguing location. Thanks for taking us with you. Missing Mark, hope he is well. Luv U
They're HEEE ERE...
lamps swinging....👻
I'd love to be in any of those old places. The architecture alone!! Magnificent!
Totally awesome explore often wondered why family’s leave in a rush
Enjoy all of your UA-cam videos please keep up the wonderful job you do stay safe and sound.
This is a fantastic find. This was very unique. Creepy, disturbing, mysterious but interesting. Well done. I enjoy your videos. Sahar Hussain from Dallas, Texas.

Another great explore Dave, there is sadness with that house bit spooky too
Hi everyone definitely a weird one good to see you guys collaborating together
Hi Dave I hope you're having a good day and such a great video and take care
This house would have been amazing back in the day. It’s very sad it’s been left to fall to bits, very sad story too. I really like your style of exploring, you are very caring and considerate of the places you visit. I’m hooked on your channel. Thank you for your amazing explorations, it’s fascinating to see these time capsules, such a shame you can’t rescue the lovely things that will inevitably be destroyed. Massive house, one time it must have been a hive of activity. I think the room in the kitchen would have been for the cook originally and then later on a convenient place for an afternoon nap.
Hii again. This video to its fantastic and house its old very old. Thanks guys very much this stories 👍✨🕊️〰️〰️💞👍byee
Fantastic & eerie explore, so interesting and certainly a very different one! Thank you 🙏
Dave I wanted to say that I really enjoy your new mates that go with you.
That was very interesting 👏👏👏
Glad you think so!

Your explorations are always very interesting 💪
Something freaky about that place dave its strange that the owner would write things all over his own walls ❤❤❤👍
Thank you friend for sharing this amazing explore however the history of the place is very sad and disturbing 👍
You missed that crazed batgirl emerge screaming out of her prison closet and chasing that horde of intruders out of her solitude.
@@billstill1794 Oh darn! I bet that was a sight to see! 😉
@@blanning2058 LOL! That's how he cracked his phone!
Interesting mysterious place would love to know the history of it and the people. Thank you so much
Mardi is Tuesday in English. Such a great find and what a backstory. The light fixture swinging was someone letting you know they know you are there. I'm bilingual in French but couldn't see anything close enough to translate on the walls..
Aimer = Like
Traduire = Translate
Lire = Read
Innover = Innovate
Reagir = React.
42:22 min. bad, who knows what happened there, you can only guess !
Thanks you guys see you soon
Even with it being a big house they didn't seem to have much modern furniture etc
Your weight moving across the floor makes things move in old houses like these -- like the hanging light, etc. Even if the house isn't old.
37:21 min. The entrance hole for the bats 🦇🦇🦇
Thanks for the video a very interesting house
It looked like it was a nice house in it’s time, all the writing on the walls was creepy but so sad.Thankyou Dave I really enjoyed watching this one,you could feel the creepy vibe’s so how did you feel being there.Stay safe Dave, and thank you for taking us with you.❤️❤️❤️
Another brilliant video keep up with the good videos
The cupboard bed is called a box bed, common in France and Holland
The mattress in the locked cupboard is made of straw inside the cover.
All I can find so far is that it's called a brocante game table. I don't know how it's played though.
Why are you whispering,?

Great video dave amazing place great history many thanks sharing with us 👍
Thanks for bringing us there...amazing!thanks and take care.🍀
Dave bedrooms often had side entrances in in France to climb in but the double beds often sit in the recess. the lock was outside but looks like the old yale locks which can be opened from within. Stay safe. B
Writing on the walls? A bed hidden by a locked fake wall? 2 beds upstairs in a bathroom? So many questions. This place is really creepy but it made for a great explore. Thank you for the information about bats, that's something I had never heard of.
Mardi is Tuesday 😉 xx that's one of the very few words I remember from my French lessons at school a million years ago! 😂😂😂
All I can say is, "wow"! Such a crazy story. I got nervous when you were in the attic😂
Great video so sad to see people just walk away
What an ace time capsule but a creepy place at the same time with a sad story to boot hope the daughter is somewhere getting the help shes needs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ x
I find the places you go to are really cool. Thanks for sharing them you guy's are awesome
I can't imagine the heaviness you felt in there! Thanks for all you do 💕
I wonder about the design.. something ominous, or the hidden room some sort of meditation haven.
Very cool explore, what a big house. So many rooms.
I believe we all have our family horror stories that nobody wants revealed, yet we will always carry our personal demons within us🌹🌿
From what google says the door says "Enjoy translating and reading, innovating and reacting"
I love that the interior structure of the building looks like it's from the early 1800s at least 😍
