I've been a huge fan of The Offspring since I was a kid! This is my favorite song by them. It's just so powerful. It's a shame that it doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves.
This song has one of the most epic intro lirycs in any punk songs I've ever heard... Probably. It just get me pumped up. I always imagine a badass figure standing a mountain top getting struck by lightning but still having this confident grin on his face.
But if you listen to the further lyrics, it's not the confidence that the lyrical subject exudes. It's regret over a wasted lifetime, waiting for Him to end that life with one strike of a lightning, while simultaneously asking for enlightenment in form of understanding emotions one last time.
Whos here during middle school nastalgia because of quarantine but you like good music and realize ramen noodles are a way of life and and skaters were cool..............bush
Literally one of the most under appreciated song ever, I too underapreciated it because it was so different. Until a good friend in middle school requested it durring lunch and I was the Friday music guy. I was so taken aback I asked if he was sure, and he relied “Hell ya man! I fucking love that song! \m/“ and that day I was like *fuck ya! Me too!* from that day I agreed it was one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Still song it in the shower 15 years later
Lisa Moore I'm convinced that if they released this song or Race Against Myself as singles instead of Hit That, the album Splinter would have been much more successful.
The intro sounds like it may have been the inspiration for Green Day's Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, obviously Splinter was released a year before American Idiot and having been a fan back in those days I heard this first and noticed the rhythm
Do they usually do double songs? I could always figure that Never Gonna Find Me and this one were related (check intro) but never figured there were more than these two. Maybe The Noose and Long Way Home as well?
fuck man, im a fan of older offspring (97) so i didnt really bother after i heard your gonna go far kid,but after hearing a few songs off this album im getting that offspring feel back, bright sunny days,skateboarding,surfing..the happy things in life. so good. YES!!1464q6!1
Somehow it reminds me about Dean from supernatural. He has the burden of the Universum on his back but he still stands in front of an enemy and say SCREW YOU. I love this kinds of guys they have enough anger and the courage to never give up when they think it isn't right. They take all the consequences that might come up.
Sounds generic to me but ok if you like it. Also it was Josh Freese (sic) on drums, he's a professional session drummer. Ron Welty wasn't even credited for the album, I guess he was already gone.
Offspring for e is just like poison. It is just like the drug my heart needs to keep calm! It is so damn a pitty that I heard these musics already kinda 1000 times... It is beginning to get a little boring lol
This whole album is criminally underrated. Best band ever :)
Are you calling them criminals? People like you need to fuck off
Just kidding
@@Mountaindewdewable ixnay part 2

Preaching Offspring to all School eh? Well done. BTW, fellow ADD here (ADHD-C probably)
The start of this song gives me goosebumps. My boyfriend got me into the Offspring and I love him for that! Imagine I'd missed all this!
This song needs to be played on the radio. It's a very underrated song, imo.

I think so too.
@@TheAngryBrave Or all the songs that you mentioned; every song is amazing on this album is amazing (except for maybe the last two)
for me to understand some of this universal symbolism is beyond words. I can't explain how beautiful it is.
This song reminds me of skateboarding , rollerskating and just when punk was punk
The intro sounds like it may have been the inspiration for Green Day's Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, obviously Splinter was released a year before American Idiot and having been a fan back in those days I heard this first and noticed the rhythm
very best song ever
i have to agree

amazing offspring at their best :) and for this song to be part of a double song that they usually do, omg!
Do they usually do double songs? I could always figure that Never Gonna Find Me and this one were related (check intro) but never figured there were more than these two. Maybe The Noose and Long Way Home as well?

I was searching this music for years, I saw it on a Naruto vs Sasuke AMV probably on 2006/2007 or something like this, my life is made
I like this song, it heals!:)
I remember beating mario 64 multiple times to this whole CD... How do I get me youth back..?

THE OFFSPRING ROCKS!
\m/
The drum break at 0:42 is the best.

besides the greatest hits cd the splinter is the best they got and thats my opinion
For me Splinter is only behind RAF, RAG, but is slowly climbing to the top.
