The fun part is the song is about a guy teaching another fella how to manipulate others and crowds. When he say's ''you are gonna go far, kid'' he also manipulates his student. Makes them believe they are decieving others while in reality, the teacher actually uses the ''kid'' to do his bidding. *Trust decieved.* Awesome. Yet when i was a kid, didnt even realised what it meant and just danced along with the tune.
That's the dynamic I read into it, too. Even tried to make an animatic about it with one of my OCs who is a Machiavellian kid with a telepathic link with an evil mentor.
it could also be interpreted as someone who manipulates others to get what they want, and the phrase "You're gonna go far, kid" being a sarcastic taunt that the person that he tries to destroy with the crowd's misguided rage says to him, foreshadowing that once the crowd realizes that he is a manipulative liar, He'll be the next bad guy to destroy, while another manipulator takes the leadership of the crowd.

Some of the best song writing I've ever noticed. In the end, after using lies and manipulation to improve his position, he leads the way and shows everyone the light. Yesssssssss
I can just see a defeated villain singing this to the hero like good job you defeated me so congratulations
Rather the other way around
Sserpentsoul not really man. Hero wouldnt say this to a villain who’s defeated.
Its about a manipulative person, not a hero. Sure, if the hero is a sociopath, but probably not the context you were thinking of.
“Another clever word, sets off an unsuspecting herd.”
“With a thousand lies and a good disguise”
“Turning all against the one is an art that’s hard to teach.”
“Something in your way, someone is gonna pay.”
So... not a hero- more of villain acknowledging another’s intelligence and aptitude for manipulation.
More like a defeated hero singing this to the villain
@@joeahern8960 maybe like a master and student and the student turns evil and kills his master, having surpassed him, and then the master sings/ says this to his student, "you're gonna go far kid..." still proud of his student because of the loving bond they shared? just got me thinking

Great lyrics video for an awesome song that moves so fast! Timed just right with the music and not full of annoying misspellings and stupid grammatical errors like so many other lyrics videos have.
Agree.
Those types of lyrics videos get on my nerves. I'm not fond of grammatical errors, anyway. Even I make a great amount, but when that happens I feel utterly embarrassed.
This sounds like a song that would be used in those good old montages made in Movie Maker, such nostalgia

Does anyone else feel like this song is about someone being trained to be an assassin even though (I’m pretty sure) it’s not?
That's the beauty of music, it's art and art is beauty and beauty is in the eye of the beholder
@@noname-do5wo I couldn’t have said it better myself 😊
thought the same thing, but more or less, a sort of "Damian Wayne" type training where if you get it wrong, you get punished, and this keeps up until you're naturally made to do it right, even if it doesn't feel like you achieved something, but were rather molded to do it
Exactly. Perfect song for an assassin's training montage

Good music is timeless.
Bad music is forgotten when the next hit comes out.
This song never gets old. Just loved listening to it.
When I was like eight I asked my PE teacher to play this song during class, I had no idea what the lyrics were saying, he turned it off and told me it had a bad word. I was so scared I thought he was going to hate me forever, and I didn’t know what the word was until today.

When I was younger, I wondered what the Lord of the Flies was. Now I do. I'm happy at this easter egg.
And I am not afraid to admit that I like LOTF
Edit: Why was I cringe 6 years ago. Also how was freshman year of high school 6-7 years ago.
I still don't know 😂
Why would you be afraid of saying it? LotF is a classic book!
Tbh this whole song is about lord of the flies once you think about it.
I'm currently actually reading this book for school. Tbh, the only thing i don't like is how when they talk, they stop suddenly. Example:
Ralph turned, facing simon
"Why don't we-"
"So you could-"
"But the-"
THAT'S LIKE, EVERY CONVERSATION! AGH! But more or less it's a good book. :P
