This is the album they made their selves without being told what to do by the big music industry jews. It happens to all bands usually, there are some outliers though. Seeing the dark side of the music industry is why A LOT of amazing artists with big hearts die before they're 30.
Smash is my favorite punk-rock album ever, and this is the one of the best songs of all times as for me, always motivates me to live my way, enjoy life not depending on anything, and just feel alive. That's the most real honest thing I've read in a comments section. People always hate when band grow and change but the reality is people grow and change :p
yeah they get kids and bills to pay. but the most honest thing is they sign a 3-record contract, and sometimes the unity/passion in the band is gone by the 3rd album since it's been 10 years. if you haven't been in a band (yet) then you wouldn't know.

These guys had that kind of unexplained magic... Even the album cover is perfectly fitting - it bridged the gap between punk and indie. Makes me wonder why they don't come back... we want clinton-era back! haha
The offspring still has terrific albums and songs after Smash imo, but they definetly never got that punk again. Their first three albums have a raw sound, speed and aggression we have only seen again on occasion, like Da Hui from Splinter to take an example.
