When Cathy whops Sean in the head, I laugh my ass off every time!
Nice guitar you made Sean.
A tip, buy, yourself a helmet and her some flowers and big box of her fave chocolate. 😙
Sean you gonna have to start wearing a Bell star helmet working around Cathy. LOL
Yeah, the only guitar building shop that is a “hard hat” area!
I agree I've lost all my respect and loyalty to the major brands. Got 2 different strat sty L e ,off brand and a les paul jr off brand I changed pick ups and pots and did fret job. I wont be going back till they lower their prices. Would only own Fender till they got out of reach for the average guy. Keep up good work Sean and Cathy😅
Totally agree with you , especially Gibson. They're the biggest scam out there of big brands. I'd never waste thousands on one of their guitars...
Yeah, Gibson is really overpriced.
@@user-pk4kb8bx9g Yup , and the thing is it's the same old guitars , they haven't done anything innovative in 50yrs. They think because they add new colors or relic it that justifies them to increase the price by hundreds of dollars. They're so overrated and out of touch , I'm a huge fan of Schecter and own several. At least they keep moving forward and offer a guitar for everyone's style , plus they're well made , the quality is excellent and prices are very reasonable....
Go ahead and support communist China. Getting things made in America is going to cost extra because labor costs quite a bit here, I guess you want them to lower their costs cutting worker salaries so they can compete with a communist nation. I have owned serval off brand strats, single cuts, an many other types of guitars, and can tell you that they are all lacking. Most people who have your opinions just can’t buy one new, then buy used at half costs, this dude doesn’t sell his guitars cheap, but doesn’t talk about his guitar costs but will shit on fender an Gibson all day. He’s promoting you garbage because he gets kick backs from Temu and these Amazon sellers are probably giving him money to.
@@dukenukembubblegum7311
Ok smart guy, sooo, poor musicians are all communist supporters.......
You need to put on a hat before someone thinks you are a dick !
Those Cathy unicoils sound awesome
I had two good laughs from this and I'm not even halfway through. The first was when it went to "technical difficulties" and UA-cam went to an ad. The timing of that couldn't have been better. The second was when Sean revealed the big hole under the neck plate and Cathy said "don't go sticking your fingers in there" and Sean replied "you know I HAVE to!" That was pure gold!
I've only been in the guitar world for about 7 months. I have to say I came across your channel and started watching. Ive gone back and watched every post you have done. Great job. I have learned more from you than any other person on UA-cam. I can now set my own guitars up. From string changes, intonation to fret work. My buddies are asking me to do theirs. I just wanted to say I really enjoy watching you and Kathy. Please keep the great videos coming. Thank you for all your videos.
That guitar should be called Spanky because it sure has some honky tonk tones. It sounds amazing!
Hi Sean. I really like your videos. I think I’ve watched everyone at least twice. I’m a disabled combat vet. I used to play professionally for a while. And thru trial and lots of error I learned how to fix my own stuff. I eventually want to start building guitars. And thanks to you I have the confidence to do it. Thank you so much for all your videos.
I told some of the most talented guitarist in town what you are doing and the fact that I did exactly what you taught on your videos an ended up with a killer under 100 dollars Telecaster that plays great and now will use in my shows. They just looked at me and I said you got to watch this guys videos! Thanks for the education and the fun great instructive videos ! Keep it up I'm watching! BTW one asked if I would look at their guitar. I give you the credit Shawn!
When I started playing guitar I was told don't even look at the trust rod! Don't even try to set the intonation! I'm 65 and I've been playing guitar forever. The guitars I have now I have had for 40 years; never touched any of them... With you Sean, I learn to level my frets and set up my guitars and boy where they way out. thank you! For teaching me you guys are great
The best pickups I have ever heard. These are better than any Fender I have ever heard. It is beautiful and sounds like the best choice of a Strat ever!
The back and forth between y'all adds great entertainment to great education. Guitar sounds awesome. Excellent work on the guitar, Sean. Outstanding work on the pickups, Cathy. Great video, y'all.
You knocked this one out of the park... out of the zip code even. That fliggity flame neck and that beautiful blue burst. These are the videos I love the most, keep it up and Cathy... please don't give Sean any more brain damage. Lol
Well Mr Sean. I enjoy your videos and I can say with all honesty your guitars are just as nice of not nicer than the big guys and play really sweet. A friend of mine has a guitar you built and it’s his go to for gigs. Keep up your Chanel and build your ass and scar ‘‘em up !!
Thanks Sean & Cathy, I have to agree those Pickups sound Sweet !
See Y'all tomorrow night ...
Man Cathy has that home run swing!! LOLOLOL
Did the same thing. Used a Squier body, SX lefty neck from guitar fetish for &40 & a loaded pickguard with Wilkinson pickups. So a partscaster with a reverse headstock. Smokes any fender I’ve personally played. And she’s in old man sunburst.
I really want to know how you built that floating router that you used for the neck pocket.
That thing's amazing.
Man Sean, that was a great vid! Awesome upgrade too love the sound of those pups. 👍🏻
Cheers
Thanks for the channel, Sean! I've learned a lot watching your vids.
Brilliant job as ever mate, love your channel, even more when she whacks you over the head with a guitar :-) just brilliant, as a brit i love your accent as well :-) take care you two Trev
That is the Mason/Dixon accent. I lived all my life in southern Missouri along with Mississippi and every vacation to Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida . Music to my ears. My granddaughter sings like a bird with that accent. Thanks from us Crackers , 4 wheel drive, mud, and sweet Southern music, 63 and I’ll never grow up ! Can I get a witness?
Sounds awesome. You built a Scar-caster. 👍 Top notch guitar 🎸.
Please showcase the high E strings in your future playing demos ? Thank you and congratulations on the fun site+++
Great video, bro. The Guitar looks killer and sounds pretty cool. Nice job man.
I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful guitar show. I love it!
That's how it's done Sean ✔️, I'm like you, love my Fender but not a big spender. I've built two parts casters with parts from 4 different player series donors off ebay. You can't learn if you don't try. Your channel is a motivator. 👍 🎸
THAT GUITAR does sound fantastic....good job !
I gotta say wow that turned into one beautiful guitar!!! I love that neck, the flame really stands out. New bridge and Cathy's pups and you got a smokin' guitar. Great work AS ALWAYS Sean, thanks for sharing and we'll see you Saturday night🤘
Ha! I just had a roasted flame maple with rosewood arrive for the exact same plans…. Great minds!
Ive learned alot watching you and i do all my own repairs and adjustment myself now !!! I appreciate your skills!!
THAT is a killer guitar there, Sean. It's got the looks and it sounds fantastic. Cathy's pickups are doing the business for sure.
And you're right - all Fenders are 'partscasters', that's what Leo envisaged from the outset. Some are put together in a Fender factory and some after-market. There's no shame either way.
Great intro, I've learned so much from this channel. I really appreciate your opinion about the big name companies.
Sean, you Rock! Thanks, bro!
I just finished setting up a Chinese neck off Ebay. It is very nice. Dark roasted Maple with the stripes with a Rosewood fingerboard. The frets were near perfect. Some spot levelling took care of it. No sprout. A beautiful neck indeed. Shipped to my door for $60. Oh yeah.
! Thank you Sean and Cathy; best One yet, and i've liked Them all
;)
Where did the bridge saddles come from? They look a lot better than the junk bent metal saddles that come on the fender bridge.
Okay, Sean. I'm going to give this one a shot. Just ordered one of these guitars and will look for a better neck and tuners and pickups. I got a feeling I will outdod Fender like you did.
You guys crack me up ! Thanks for all you both do.
Wow thats one purdy guitar now!!!! Nice work
That was a hit, Sean!!!
Between your finessing the parts and Cathy's pickups, that guitar is a gem.
You gotta dream up a name for a product line.
You're right about those surprises. I have a P Bass I recently restored. While I was shimming it I realized that the neck pocket slopes higher on the treble side. I just left it and set it up anyway and it plays fine. The bridge is adjustable for a reason.
Man I bought a $40 neck off Temu (the frets needed a bit of leveling) and it was dressed and the ends were nicely rounded! It was a satin finish and 14" radius, I put it on my parts caster and once the frets were leveled, oh man, it played nice! Thanks for your informative, funny, and inspiration in your real talk videos. I will have to seriously want a "name" brand guitar to buy one again. My 96' American Lonestar is all the name brand I need.
Very nice!
Nice work as always!!!
I have built muskets with hardwoods, they love the flamed tiger striped maple wood too. Many builders do faux striping. They take maple wood and tiny brush dipped in woodstain and paint on the stripes . Those Tiger stripe maple necks on eBay are painted stripes. It’s easy to see if you have done them. People say wow where did you find that wood. It’s a faux striped neck guaranteed.
It's real and your drunk or high if you think I can't tell the difference.
great job on this guitar and Kathys pickups sound great
Great video Sean! If someone can't learn how to fix a guitar by watching you then they must have a learning disability because you do a great job of showing and explaining how to do everything.
That was funny when Kathy "El Kabong'd" you 🤣
Beautiful Blue! I love that color! I painted my 68 Mustang Coupe with the Shelby “ California Special “ kit and that Blue, people swore it was black. I had to wet sand the blue with 6000 and spray laquer and kit it with dry 220 for 3 coats before the Urethane clear. I love it when you get it all rubbed out. No silicone, just urethane polish. The Clearcoat looks an inch deep like that one. It broke my heart to sell it. I had roller canned 428 CobraJet to put in it. But I built that 289/302 4 speed for it and he made an offer I couldn’t refuse, the engine was the original 289 and I put a 302 crank in it. I ll tell you that color of blue treated right is the best color you can get. The reflectivity through the clear is amazing! Prettiest Strat color ever! That one be a keeper! Like I miss my vision and my Mustang. That is special!
Hey Cathy,
Now, that was one of the best "EL CABONGS" to date.
Thanks for doin' that.
You are so appreciated.
Keep that guitar at the ready.
Yall are the greatest! Thank you for letting us in!
Firefly has flamed necked strat types with locking tuners for under $200. Compound radius too.
And stainless steel frets.
Your channel is great, especially this type of content. Thanks. BTW what Brand Buffing machine did you use in this vid.?
Hey Shaun. Yes we can get great prices from China but the biggest problem is tolerances and consistency. I've ordered parts off of Ali Express, Musiclily and others and the parts are iffy most times in regards to quality (sometimes) but more so size tolerances. I agree with you 100% though the big three need to start making guitars worthy of their asking price! I still say for the money and quality it's impossible to beat Sire!
That spring claw is the worst installation by any factory I've ever seen. As always you've done another impeccable upgrade job!
Your paying big bucks for the name I don't care about the name how it plays and sounds is what's important to me great job brother
Another great job. Sure to give all big brands a run for d money. Kewp it up 😊❤👌👍
Jammin on the Partscaster... Sounds good brother Sean 🎶🎶🎶🎸
Dude I feel ya I bought a squier vintage vibe jazzmaster and as soon as I received it I went back straight to where I bought it. The fret works was so bad and the bridge was crooked . Dude the frets were like an exacto cut my fingers on it. I know it wasn’t a real us 🇺🇸 but dawg….
I love watching this kind of stuff!
That's pretty slick, man!🤟
Damn it man! That thing sounds great!
Edit: I’m gonna be needing some of those pick ups brother. Does Kathy wind these to a certain specific? Those things combined with the set up you did sound freakin awesome. Thanks for doin what y’all do bud.
Holy moly!!! That guitar sounds amazing!!!!!!
Looks and sounds great! Nice job.
John, you and your wife have a Great Podcast and a Great Evening. Love that build.👍
Beautiful guitar
Super cool. I always get something out of your videos since I came across them. Be it technical tips, hacks, upgrade suggestions or entertainment from Cathy whacking you across the head, it's always worth checking in. Cheers, Sean!
I'd name it Flamy McFlameface
Great video! I'm doing it! I'm going to start working on guitars!!
First, I love your videos.
My last fender was a player series, 800 bucks and it needed a complete set up as well as fret work. The fret sprout was really bad but luckily I know how to setup and fix guitars. I now, like you only buy the cheaper guitars, spend a few hours setting them up and find meyself only playing them. The best thing any serious guitar player can do is to buy some basic luthier tools and learn how to use them, in the end it is extremely enjoyable and rewarding. I actually look forward to ordering and setting up cheap guitars now. I bought a Firefly a few months back for $149. I put another 100 in it for pickups, pots, saddles and a new switch and it is my go to guitar.
Great video and inspiring me to give it a go. I really appreciate it. Just curious why the Ermik Strat as there are cheaper donor options.
I am deffo doing my own build, between GFS and a couple parts, I am sure I can do my own do-it-all strat & teles that kick butt
Shawn. Start filling them annoying holes with hardwood dowels hahahaha
Dang, Cathy's pickups sound great.
You give me great encouragement 🎉 Thanks, man 🎸 (Good laughs, to boot!) 😂 17:31 😊
Hey, I just want you and Kathy to know that I really enjoy your channels and content. I have learned a few things along the way, too.
Another great video brother!
Would it be possible to do an in depth fret leveling tutorial.....i just got the tools but skiddish about taking the plunge......all i know is when you get em they buzz...when your done its gone....please share that knowledge step by step cause im done buying the major brands(except schecter...they deliver).....as always keep up the good work
Did you have to do anything to that neck? Fret polishing or leveling? For $80 bucks you can't go wrong! Nice work!!!
nope
Give em hell Kathy! Love you 2 and your comedic skills!
"That sounds like a personal problem to me." Lol, Kathy is gangster.. Love the humour!
Spectacular !!! Wow !!!
Fender custom shop gets those same wood stain - striped “4a “ maple necks from china, scuff up the guitars, call them relics and put a $10,000 price tag on them 🎉
Hey my man once again excellent work show me that guitar that is awesome. I have a beautiful G&L I custom ordered years ago. It’s a one off, but it’s blue burst that thing looks almost as good. I would love to own that.
I got an Aria Pro2 Jet1 on sale $220 put a $28 Wilkinson vintage steel trem, bent steel saddles w big steel block some planet waves lockers and roller string trees and i cant put it down. Stock alnico 5 bucker and single are ok for now since I use modelers and can sound like anything anyway.
That sure sounds sweet. Real nice like looks as well.
Beautiful guitar! Definitely proud of my partscasters - no logo gang here!
Nice axe Shaun, the sticker for the headstock should read the Ender👍 the Ender of all fenders😂
Keep em coming bro & a big shout out for Cathy's sweet pup's, they're killer❤
Good stuff thank you! See you Saturday night
Best tone yet Shawn !!!
That "Partmaster" guitar turned out to be a monster! Love it!
I ordered all of the tools I’ve seen used by you and others. They’ll be here next week. I must now learn to take care of my own gear. I got a new Donner the other day that has a terrible crackle in the Jack. I have a few others that have sharp frets. I want to learn, so where do you suggest I learn so that I’m not afraid to screw things up worse?
Dirty and scarred is 2 different things....i feel that shit....keep up the good work
I watch every video you have! Great! Just an idea but maybe you try some distortion or overdrive. Keep up the good work!
WOW that sounds good!
At 18:12 you plug it into an amp and I can hear the breakup. It sounds like a really good guitar. I would not be ashamed to play that in a live gig setting. Good job.
Hay Shawn - you can get a body from GFS for $85 to 120 and it will be USA spec to fit usa spec parts and it is way better qualty than that Ermik body. Just saying for future vids friend I'm not a troll just making some suggestions. I still love how yu built this an dlove your channel !! Blessings to you and Cathy
I love watching you both cutting up. And thank you both for showing me how to fix these guitars. I'm a Bass player and I love playing Bass but I'm always looking to fix guitars and Basses. Thank you to both of you Sean and Cathy. God Bless you both.
Look man your the only man I trust with a guitar.
Also I have that guitar different name though
Why do you think I watch you? Well, I'll answer that. It's to learn stuff, because you're phenomenal at working on guitars, prick , lol! I love ya Sean and Cathy! God Bless!🙏❤️❤️🙏
