Athena, you capture your minute observations so beautifully. Real love for the small but important things in life. What a lovely diary; thank you so much for sharing it with the world.
Oh your videos are so well done, exactly the respite of simple living that I needed this morning. No elaborate ‘lifestyle’ just beautiful potted mugs, a healthy morning breakfast, a sweet dogs, a walk through nature, scenes of uk life, mellow music. I can tell you I was in hospital for months last year and it was watching your videos all the time then that helped me and gave me vision of my one day living such a simple, sweet life.
Saturday morning is a great time to publish a video like this - sets us all up for the weekend. Perfect chilled vibe! I don’t know anyone else on UA-cam who does it as well as you. 😊
I love the footage and music with the energy of tranquility and compassion captured between you Harvey and Mr. Oslo. This relaxed me and the tree climbing intrigued me. Sourdough is going to be new to my kitchen. Wonderful sharing. Thank you
Hi I've Just discovered your videos Just watched the Flambourgh one brilliant I've been going caravaning there for 54 years since I was two week old loving your vlogs their so calming keep them coming been watching Debbie's World's vlogs their very calming two they do some very good walks in the lake District lots love x
Oslo reminds me of my father's dog, don't say the W word. I'm like Harvey, I just love the woods with hills a close second. Thank you for a lovely vlog. Perfect way to end a Saturday.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful videos. Every Saturday morning relaxing fix. It means we made it another week and can relax to make another. Blessings. Love it all!
What a lovely video to watch on a Saturday morning so relaxing to start off my day. I find that walking though the woods can be quite magical the bird song the wildlife the smell of wild garlic brilliant. Home make pizza better than any shop bought especially when eaten outdoors. Stay safe.
hahah, I love the cryptic W-A-L-K to stop Oslo getting too excited! Your swim spot looked so tranquil - perfect for a humid day! Totally agree, the woods have been incredible throughout lockdown, especially with the carpets of bluebells covering the floor! Your sourdough pizzas looked divine - may need to rethink my dinner plans tonight now haha!
Aw thank you!! It’s so funny because when I’m editing videos and Oslo hears me say ‘walk’ in the video he gets really excited and it’s awful! So I have to avoid using that word at all 😬😊 The pizzas were great, we made them again last night xx
To have a coffee or to just get off , always the question I ask before a river swim or day hike ! Lovely video. Especially loved the opening moments with tea and wool blanket and birds x
I thought I was imagining things, but no, you really do have a Dutch Albert Heijn supermarket canvas tote hanging in your kitchen! ☺️ So I'll take this opportunity to let you know how much I'm enjoying your lovely, magical and cosy video's. Sending you much love from the Netherlands! 🥰
After a stressful week of work in London, waking up, and watching your vlog first thing is such a welcomed and relaxing treat. Thanks for another great video.
That looks delicious, what time do you want me around ? Ha ha. Brilliant vid. Heather will be proud of your swim efforts. Beautiful countryside. Yeah it's great when you're denied the hills you appreciate the woods & valleys more. Similarly when you are denied the views by mist & cloud you see the beauty in other nearby things like Lichen on rocks & small flowers. You two seem to have an idyllic life ( at least inbetween the hectic & work parts !). Thank you again for sharing with me. If re-incarnation exists I'm coming back as Oslo. Love to you all x
That little swim spot looked so idyllic, I'm desperate to get into some water of any kind- i really miss swimming! Another beautiful vlog, your videos are helping me get through lockdown so thank you! xx
I just found your channel and I am OBSESSED. Your videos are so cosy and give me so much inspiration for new places to hike and explore. Thank you for making lockdown 3.0 more tolerable x
I think it's a waterwheel stone pair, used to power a small waterhammer or some other small utility. Remember you don't have to throw away from your starter. Have a motherdough in fridge, take out a third of what your starter needs(say 100 grams for a 300 gram starter levain) about 12 hours before you start to bake. Feed the motherdough in the fridge with the same amout that you took from it. I do a 50/50 split for the Mother(wheat/water by weight) and a 1/3 split in the levain/starter(motherdough/flour(rye or wheat)/water)
Lockdown has made me think laterally about hikes, especially as Wales is my usual go to place, just over the border, but still a 'no go zone'. Thank goodness for the Shropshire Hills which it's now OK to drive to. If not rugged, the area is stunning at this time of year, plus loads of Celtic history. Love the vlogs, 😁👍
@@RambleFamily yeah so the Mother is always in the fridge, maybe out for an hour after you feed it and then straight back into the fridge. I bake 2-3 a week and that's just enough that I might be able to have it out on the counter. The fermentation slows down in the fridge keeping it young and low in tang/sour. My starters smell fruity and fresh and I combine it with a long bulkfermention in the fridge.
Ah don’t be jealous! I’m sure your place is lovely. We just rent the cottage but would love to own something like this one day and really make it our own 🙏🏼
Great! Your video was the perfect antidote for me after not such a good day. Now feeling refreshed, chilled and in a better place again (all I want now is a slice of that Pizza, yummy). And I should add that even when this lockdown is over and you are back out walking, hopefully you will still keep providing us with a good splattering of your super chilled home vlogs. Thank you.
Ah so glad this video could make you feel a little better 🙏🏼 I will keep doing some home vlogs as I know how much people enjoy them and I enjoy filming them!
Yes, I agree, that is what they look like to me too. The axle for the wheel would be inserted through the two stone holes and the paddles attached to the axle. Since your cottage is made from stone, it may date from around the same time. It might be a way to find out who built it and for what purpose, to generate power or divert water from the stream. You could try looking at old maps of the area, they might give you a clue as to their use. Take care, stay well.
Another great vlog, love at bit of forrest bathing. Just came from Bun n Beard where they ventured to a 'secret' plunge pool, its all the rage in lockdown.
I am about to go to Slovenia for a hiking and camping trip (although not wildcamping as illegal) and I have been binge watching your videos the past couple of days! Love them! Somehow the algorithm thinks your videos are a good match to my preferences. Would love to go hiking in the UK for a couple of days when it is possible again :)
Hi Athena, lovely video, so peaceful. I just found you. Hope you, Harvey and Oslo are well. New subscriber for sure. Best wishes. Julie, North of England x
Catching up on your vlogs in no particular order. Another beautiful video...love the way Oslo sits looking at the views, he seems like an old soul. Reading The Salt Path at the moment, wonderful. Where is the forest, is it around Snake Pass? Would be lovey for a walk next spring.
I have just found your channel Athena and love your content. Its just good such a nice feel to it. A tip from me would be for when you guys are able to travel back up to Scotland to visit Ardkinglas woods if you haven't already. They have amazing gardens and, literally, the biggest trees in the UK!
Greeting from New Zealand. I just discovered your vlogs today. They are wonderful! I really have enjoyed the relaxed vibe. My dog also can’t hear the w word without getting very excited. You’ve inspired me to make sour dough now.
Hello hope your both well ,those old stones look like it was old sheep dipping place I could be wrong may be I seen them alot around here all best steve
Another wonderfully uplifting & enjoyable video. Might I suggest a 6mtr extendable cord lead for Oslo though, much easier than rope. Thanks again for a great video.
"I love the song of tree and wind how beautiful they sing The lichen on the beech tree rind E'en beats the flowers of spring". With thank to John Clare.....lovely filming, sadly my Bluebells are almost over.
Hi Athena , I have just save that book to my lists from the library can't wait for the libraries to open so I get get stuck in with that book , Great video as always , thanks 🌈

Lovely! You left a smile on my face while lockdown has me feeling gloomy, thank you :) Also I really want to see if there are any nice swim spots near me now...
Another lovely video. I came across your channel through walking and wild camping, but have to say I'm loving your "at home/lifestyle" stuff. Very calming! 🙂 I've now recommended your channel to my non-outdoorsy wife and two daughters. Btw, we have now started to use the phrase, "taking the mutt for a meander" so as not to get our ten year old whippet too excited! 😁
Hi, I’m a new subscriber, been watching your channel for a while, I spent most of my childhood in New mills and love walking up the hills and fishing in the streams. Now I’m based in the Middle East and love being taken out and about in the Peak District via UA-cam. Keep up the great work hopefully it won’t be to long before my next visit.
Thank you! I used to live in the Middle East when I was younger but we moved back to the UK when I was 10, so have done the journey the other way around 😊
Lovely video and lovely people, a special reminder of how beautiful life is if you look at it the right way, this is definitely going to be a new favourite channel of mine:-)

So envious, planning a trip up north but I don't know if Boris will let me go. Also loved the Salt Path.
Just what I needed after a three day hike 🌸 calm and cozy
Hey Athena don’t suppose you could make a Spotify playlist with all the songs you use in your vids you’ve got so many good tunes please do
I love the footage and music with the energy of tranquility and compassion captured between you Harvey and Mr. Oslo. This relaxed me and the tree climbing intrigued me. Sourdough is going to be new to my kitchen. Wonderful sharing. Thank you

Love this video and rewatched it many times , your photography and videography skills are amazing 💙
Love your videos.....Oslo is so gorgeous. 🐕 I was born in Castleton so know the area well. Happy memories. 😊
Thank you Tracey 🙂
Very nice weather for a walk, plus the pizza, the wine and handsome mr. Oslo, what a perfect day.
Another epic video by Athena. I have to say I admire your tenacity, water that cold is not having me in it.
What a lovely video to watch on a Saturday morning so relaxing to start off my day. I find that walking though the woods can be quite magical the bird song the wildlife the smell of wild garlic brilliant. Home make pizza better than any shop bought especially when eaten outdoors. Stay safe.
It’s funny! It felt like Oslo was at the background thinking “does she think I don’t know what the “w” word means?”great video!
😂😂😂
Your videos are so relaxing and a great testimony to the beauty of nature. Thanks. (helps me feel like I'm outdoors in this time of lockdown)
The salt path, what a book! Hope you enjoyed it too. 👍🏻
hahah, I love the cryptic W-A-L-K to stop Oslo getting too excited! Your swim spot looked so tranquil - perfect for a humid day! Lovely chilled video again. I've just finished The Salt Path, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the follow up.
Ah nice! It seems like a lot of people have read or are reading the book 😊
To have a coffee or to just get off , always the question I ask before a river swim or day hike ! Lovely video. Especially loved the opening moments with tea and wool blanket and birds x

Another lovely video Athena. Thank you so much for using my song in this one! ❤
Thanks for letting me use it Timothy! Definitely keen to use it in other videos too 😊
What’s the song called? Bon iver vibes
Loving the Harvey skip step!!
That little swim spot looked so idyllic, I'm desperate to get into some water of any kind- i really miss swimming! Another beautiful vlog, your videos are helping me get through lockdown so thank you! xx

Fantastic video! The Salt Path is up there as one of my all time favourite books, and the pizza looks amazing!

Ah ok I didn’t know I could do it that way! Do you need to feed the dough that you take out? Or is it ready to use about 12 hours?
Ah I really want to visit the Shropshire Hills when this is over. I think lockdown has made us all appreciate where we live so much more 🙏🏼
@@RambleFamily yeah so the Mother is always in the fridge, maybe out for an hour after you feed it and then straight back into the fridge. jhehu1 thanks so much!! I will definitely try this 😀
Love the relaxing vlogs Athena, enjoy life and keep safe. Beautiful area to live.
Thanks John!
All this beauty on your doorstep. truly blessed, and a perfect end to a perfect day another video gem 💎😎
Nice video, if I’m going for a wild swim/dip I always take some foot wear to use, makes it a lot easier.
Although the house I live in is small and cute, still suffered from a touch of envy seeing your cottage
Ah don’t be jealous! I’m sure your place is lovely. We just rent the cottage but would love to own something like this one day and really make it our own 🙏🏼
Lovely video again, loved the wild swimming hats what I love doing too. Thanks again
Another winner, pizza looked lovely. Our old dog learnt W and eventually even understood W. A. L. K they know far more than we think😁.
Hahaha brilliant!
I love these videos, this new format (lockdown) sets me up for the whole day, it makes me realise how lucky we are to be here safe and well. xx
Thank you 😊
Great! Your video was the perfect antidote for me after not such a good day. Now feeling refreshed, chilled and in a better place again (all I want now is a slice of that Pizza, yummy).

Yet again another perfect video to start the day with 😍thank you! 💕
your videos give me so much joy
Thanks for another relaxing video.
Those stones with the holes look to me like where an axle for a water wheel would go.
Ah nice! Thanks.
Yes, I agree, that is what they look like to me too. The axle for the wheel would be inserted through the two stone holes and the paddles attached to the axle.

Lovely vlog. Both the breakfast and the pizza looked delicious!
Lovely video! Thankyou for taking us along.

Just perfect. Thank you
Another great video Athena keep up the good work great to see yourself and Harvey enjoying what's nature got to offer great work.....stewie
Thank you! 😀
Another wonderfully uplifting & enjoyable video. Might I suggest a 6mtr extendable cord lead for Oslo though, much easier than rope.
Thanks again for a great video.
Yes he actually snapped his last extendable so Harvey made this rope lead temporarily. We’re going to get another extendable soon though 😊
Such relaxing vibe.
"I love the song of tree and wind

That swimming spot looks beautiful good little find that. 👌
Yeah it’s a real hidden gem! Quite far up the valley where no one goes either 😊
W. A. L. K. 😂😂 we used that so much that my childhood dog got wise to it and got excited for walkies when we said it.
Hahaha he gets excited just if I say ‘are we gonna go...’ or anything beginning with w 😅😅
