hey , just want to say thank you for your videos , i'm really struggling with life a the moment and your videos are helping me through difficult times. once again thank you. ps i'm off camping this weekend for the first time in ten plus years.
I’m so sorry to hear you are struggling but so happy to hear that my videos are helping you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I hope you enjoy camping!! You’ll have an amazing and relaxing time I’m sure 😊
@@RambleFamily thank you for your kind words and taking your time to respond . We had a great time in Edale and it was my daughter first time camping, I think she's hooked now .
Today I found myself in Derbyshire with half a day to spare while my campervan was being serviced. So headed over to Monyash and did the circular walk along the Limestone Way and back up through Lathkill Dale as you suggested. What a lovely walk. Thanks so much for your video and the inspiration.
Loved seeing Oslo sitting upright in the van seat next to you at the end with a content & sated look on his face after his walk & food. His mannerisms were rather human like as he sat there sated, licking his lips - looking ahead, ready for the journey home😊
I had a challenging day and feel at home when I see you out and about. You might be my favourite cinematographer, editor and wanderer. Thank you for sharing and having us at home for a brew.
Hi Athena, I used to be a stone mason and concerning your train of thought on limestone.. it's actually time and pressure that creates the rocks. Because there was a sea billion of years ago (just as in Belgium, where the also have limestone mines) you can see certain fossils and debris in the stone. By the way, I've been following your channel since I stumbled upon it last spring and it is awesome! Keep up the great work :-)
Your pronunciation of "risotto con la salsiccia" was spot on! Thanks for another breath of fresh air in these challenging times. Greetings and love from Italy ❤️🇮🇹
Sorry Athena the flowers were Craigsbill I 🤔💭 think. We walked down Lathkill Dale everyday with our Golden Retiever Holly when we lived in Youlgreave. Happy memories of a much loved part of our family.
What a great way to chillax with just yourself and your best four-legged friend. I mellowed out just watching this video and tuning out the rest of the world for a while. Keep the great videos coming!
Thank you Athena for sharing your weekend, what an amazing video, you have spent a lot of work and effort to do this. I just love so many things about it. From the beautiful house and location with all its rustic charm, the collection of milk from milk bottles, how lovely and quaint. Your beautiful dog, he’s absolutely gorgeous and such a beautiful creature and a wonderful personality, I love the way he was excited about his treats and the way he’s just sitting next to you in your van as he looked out the windscreen. Love the jars, the little coffee pot on the stove, the views of you putting in your slippers, and the walk!! How wonderful I love all the mindful things, just being in the moment and noticing all the lovely things, the water under the bridge .... gosh, I feel I need to pay tribute to so many things, the way you are enjoying the sun, oh yes the relaxing music (a bit sad, the lyrics but beautiful) But just lying in bed at 6:30 relaxing and watching your video, I just forgot about everything and just relaxed and enjoyed the moments portrayed in the video. Absolutely amazing Athena . I wish you all the very best for your book and thank you for taking the trouble to make and share this video, Take care, Chris xx
I love modern houses, but I would pay a lot to have your home. Looks so warm and historically rich. From the floor, to the doors, to the rock walls, to the beautiful stove. Awesome video, again!
Unexpected encounters with wildlife are pure joy. Scrambling amongst the cliffs of Colwell Bay looking for lizards I came across a single Marsh Helleborine Orchid, how it came to be on a chalky patch away from its natural damp habitat I have no idea. Lovely as always Athena.
I just came back from having dinner outdoors on a little hill 20 minutes from where I live. Just casual magic in the middle of a busy study week. I always get inspired to be more outdoors when I watch your videos. Thank you!
Hi Athena, I’ve found your videos recently and am really loving watching, they’re lovely to watch and are inspiring. I’ve spent some time this year exploring walks and trails much nearer to home and have really appreciated it 😊
I came to the comments looking for the ID of the plant, which is not Jacob's Ladder but something that grows in our small garden and now I can name, thanks guys! I did see Jacob's Ladder around Ricklow Dale in the western part of Lathkill, near the surge of the river. Areas with the plant were fenced to protect it from sheep and feet-stomping, however many plants "escaped" and grew elsewhere. Thanks Athena for bringing some attention to the real inhabitants and the ecology of the places shown!
Hi Athena your vlogs are so calming and the music's beautiful and how well behaved is Oslo your home and life style is so relaxing thanks for sharing sending lots of love x
I love that you get inspiration from the walks you go on to learn about subjects which you didn't think you'd enjoy. And at the same time, inspire the rest of us to do the same. And your dog is so cute I could put him in a butty! 😁
I'm a beginner botanist, got loads to learn. That's not Jacobs Ladder. It's a beautiful Wood Cranesbill, if you look at seeds pods they look a bit like a crane's bill hence the common name. Jacob's ladder is a lovely plant, and it's cool to know where it grows because I've never found it wild in Cumbria.
Another brilliant video that I thoroughly enjoyed! The Jacob's ladder was infact a Meadow Cranesbill (Geranium pratense). So that's probably why the leaves didn't look like a ladder. Haha, we're always learning aren't we. Keep up the vlogs, love 'em.
Thank you for sharing such a relaxing and beautifully shot video! Oslo's face was so precious in the van hehe. I felt like he was telling me to get up and go for a walk this weekend, so now I'm going to make time.
You get the award for the COMFIEST videos ever! We're seriously looking to relocate... I want to live in the mountains outside Trollberg with the Hilda-folk, but I'll happily let the peaks (or lakes) suffice!
I'm a brit currently living in lisbon.. next year once this covid is (hopefully!) over im going to go to the peak district with your book and do some great hikes :) love your channel..
Milk being delivered to the door bought back childhood memories, might seem strange to some . It is 26deg C so perfect spring weather, stay safe look forward to your next video Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Went to Lathkill today. Bit rocky underfoot and narrow path. A lot of stopping to let people pass. Ok for dogs, unless they're like ours, who's not great with other dogs...
Hi Athena. Have you read the Rock Trails Peak District book by Paul Gannon? Just reading it at the moment, and it gives a really good insight into how Peak District geology was formed. Enjoyed the vid BTW 👍
Hi mate. I once went on a guided walk with a geologist in Weardale where I walk often & it makes you see the landscape through different eyes when you learn it was once at the bottom of a tropical sea. I bet Harvey is honing his drone skills up in Scotland. Lovely video & you can't go wrong with Oslo as your co-star xx
Mmmm. BlackBerrys. Mom used to make jelly from these. It was a big day when we took off in the car with trash pails to see what we could find. Sometimes the jelly wouldn’t take and we would have blackberry or chokecherry syrup. Pancakes and choke cherries is a taste I won’t firget
I eat my own bramble-berries every day, today plucked a handful from the Co-op's garden/car park walking home. They gave my taste-buds such a jolt I thought: How dull that food in packets in the shop is..! & There's a big empty bottle of Casillero de Diablo on the fridge to remind me to get more. Good stuff!
Hello Athena, as a new subscriber I want to say how much I enjoyed this video in the company of Oslo. I first watched your Outer Hebridean videos, and I have been out there but went from north to south. Hope to see the Harris/Lewis vd soon.
strange question but you have lovely skin!! I was wondering if you could share any sort of skin routine you have or tips on keeping it so clear? I love your videos so much they’re very calming x
Aww thank you! I definitely didn't used to have good skin and it's been something I have struggled with for years. I recently started using Aesop which is expensive but has worked wonders for me, it was recommended by a friend :) I could talk about it in a video over Autumn/Winter, I'm planning to film more cosy homey vlogs then!
Athena Mellor thank you for responding! oh yes I had an Aesop face mask once but I have never tried anything else from them, I can’t wait to hear more about your routine! x
Great Vlog once again Athena thank you. Could i please ask were you got that yellow rucksack from as the wife's been looking for one for ages. Thanks again.
Hey! For your book are you working with a designer? (I'm not offering or advertising anyone lol) I just think for books like that, making them really beautiful is a great way to make them stand out and get a wider audience :) good luck with it! And thanks for the lovely calming videos!
Unfortunately I have watched this video far too early in the week!! This is a video made for when you wake up on a Sunday morning relaxing with a coffee. BTW what is the name of the tune at the start of your Vlog?
@@RambleFamily Yes, I haven't drank it in a long time. But they used to drink it at my house. The last Chilean wine I drank was "diablo" in red bottle. Courious name isn't it? Also very beautiful video.
Talking about cooking, I have been making the banana bread you've made in one of your video's. I've made them over 6 times now as my gf likes em a lot. But when finished they look and taste more like cake than a bread. can you or anyone in chat help ? Thanks a 1000 000
Come on, no sniffing? Man you are strict. Poor Oslo is thinking, if it weren't for the bonios and the bowl of kibbles he might run off to join the Foreign Legion. 😂
I loved your video, and Oslo is such a great buddy! Just a request, since you are very environmental aware, when in a coffee shop avoid those nasty disposable cups with plastic lids. Ask for a proper mug.

Thank you, Athena, for the moments of peace your video brought to my day. 💕

When Oslo sat for his biscuit I went “awwww good boy Oslo” out loud
Haha I love that!
Me too. X

It’s such a lovely cottage, we are very lucky. I’m looking forward to another cosy winter in it 😊
@@RambleFamily Thanks for the reply! I hope you have a great winter time! Cheers, from Quebec, Canada (where we can't have enough snow)!

What a lovely chilled video. Love the jars and I love Oslo
Beautifully Hygge once more..thank you Athena ❤️🐚
Lovely video, a great chill adventure enjoying nature
Another gorgeous vlog! Pretty sure that flower was Cranesbill rather than Jacob's Ladder 🤔x
Pretty sure, too...

I agree with Gemma the plant is a cranesbill. They do like chalk downland and are very common where I live in Wiltshire.

Heading off to Windgather right now though 😊

Cool video! Just a simple tip, You’d have a lot better coffee at home with a burr type grinder like a Wilfa Svart... Makes a big difference!
Hi Athena thankyou for your amazing uploads, they always make my Saturday mornings special! Can you recommend any good simple living books please? 😊
So excited for the book! 🗺🏞

My young girls are great climbers and I want to put a climbing wall on the side of our garage. Any tips for placement of the holds Athena and Harvey?
Lovely video!
you have a lovely home.
Another great video ace 👍
Handsome Dog Oslo is!
Lovely vid. Think your purple flower is more like a Hardy geranium/cranesbill. Jxx
That log looking candle is amazing x
When will your book be available? I went to the Peak District for the first time this year and have fallen in love with the area.
Do you always use music bed?
Your choice of music suits your videos really well

The ending part with Oslo was like a Talk show:
Athena: Talking.......
Oslo: I agree with you Athena (Scooby's voice) 😄😄😄
hahaha
9:10 looks like the dog is driving
Oslo's a premium pooch. He he.
Unfortunately I have watched this video far too early in the week!! This is a video made for when you wake up on a Sunday morning relaxing with a coffee. BTW what is the name of the tune at the start of your Vlog?

1.48 was a bit of an unexpected blast from the past. You still get milk delivered there? I thought that was a long gone thing.
Yes we do! From a local farm 😊
Come on, no sniffing? Man you are strict. Poor Oslo is thinking, if it weren't for the bonios and the bowl of kibbles he might run off to join the Foreign Legion. 😂
🙃👌 super😉

I always do but due to COVID many cafes aren’t able to do them. This one was takeaway only!
🗿
What a pity I can't do a walk with you & a deep discussion on the age of the earth & other claims made in the Bible. I have put you on my prayer list.
