I'm a beginner bowler and I'm sometimes having difficulty getting my thumb out early. From what I understand, you want to get your thumb out b/f your fingers and sort of let your fingers then guide the ball. I sometimes have trouble getting my thumb out.
You are helping two 80+ yo social "bowlers" enjoy social games by learning the basics for the first time. Thank you.
Unrealistic for regular league bowlers, when each game (at Bowlero) costs nearly $7 and your drills involve repetitions “five or seven or ten times” for each of four or five drills. That’s the equivalent of three or four games of bowling, or $25-$30, just for drills. Not many guys I know are gonna spend that much $$ (several times a week?) to practice.
If I have the time I don't mind spending a couple hours to practice. I love to bowl even if I do bad. Like it when I do better but it can't always be that way sometimes.
I have always taken ONLY three steps...left, right and then letting the ball go on my left step. My dad taught me as a child to throw the ball holding it as I was shaking hands. It gives me a fantastic curve, which works well for me. I was never able to take more than 3 steps.
Must be nice to have a private lane lol. I'm not gonna pay 20$ to warm up even though I'mma decent bowler
"For us normal..." Haha!
4 steps are normal.
Why are you blowing on the ball?
Could you tell me while swinging the ball back-and-forth is there any grip pressure to be sure it doesn’t fall off your head. I can’t see the ball staying on your end if you don’t squeeze at all 🤷♂️
I’ve been bowling 🎳 3 months and love it! I have a lot of “couches” thanks for tips! New subbie.
Love this one JR! Really helpful for me at the moment. I guess the reminder to warm-up with drills and working all parts of the lane really hit home. Cheers!
So true to not fall in love with my favorite house shot, especially when I bowl in the USBC tournament.
GREAT lesson buddy. I've done this drill because of you and it has done me good so thank You Jr for your videos. Keep posting bud.
Thanks JR, very informative!
Thank You so Much for Your Help. I do do the Practice and My Bowling has improved ALOT! The Practice Is very important.
Thanks, bro! Very very practical and useful for everyone!
Great work I will use this with my Sunday morning practice
This was a big help to me since I am picking the game up after 33 years. My firs session was revealing in that I need work on being balanced at the foul line, get6ting my arm swing loose and straight through and my shoulders square with the shot. The one-, two- and three- step shots should help with that. Same for getting the ball into a free swing.
One of my favorite practice exercises was kind of like horse in basketball, we would have 3-4 of us take turns calling shots, feet right of 15, ball inside 5...or feet left of 20, ball right of 12 but inside 7 so you could have a down and in shot or swing it. It helped us all be more versatile
