I'm from Russia, and, while my country is pretty horrible, it was submitted in the government to ban hurtful operations on animals, such as declawing a cat or removing dog's ears and tail
My mom always told me to make sure that a cat's collar is loose enough that if it gets caught they can slip out of it.
We did however discipline our cats the old fashioned way which might explain why they grew apart from us over time. It's interesting learning what we did right and wrong in the past.
On the other hand even then we've always considered declawing to be inhumane mostly because with indoor outdoor cats they couldn't defend themselves, but now that I know it removes the full fingertip I'm even more against it.
I have a new young kitty that I took in now that I'm on my own and this channel is helping me be a better cat parent.
Yes always leave 2 fingers room in the collar for comfort and so yes they can pull head out if stuck on the floor but you should also make sure you have a collar that will open or break so they don't hang themselves when up high!🙂❤️

Does your cat have any of the following in the claws/fingertips: bone cancer, flesh eating disease, severe diabetes, frostbite, or anything for which amputation is considered the less awful option? No? Don't declaw your cat.

I don’t think you should. It may be too stressful for you.
Yes it's true cats can be pretty hard work so I would think very long and hard about it! But an animal can help with mental health conditions but read up on what animals do, what is involved in keeping it, how much it will cost you and what help you may be able to get. You can then make a good choice of which animal would be good for you and if it is a cat trying to find a shelter that can help you get a calmer one. GOOD LUCK 🙂❤️
