This is a common replaceable item. It isn't super important to fix but is something I find useful in those dire situations.
Keep your screws from getting stripped. Pick up these special screwdrivers that are perfect for any Philips-head screws. They will not cam-out on you. They literally sell themselves. MUST BUY

#clutch #motorcycle #replace
I replaced mine and could not figure out why it still wasn't working. Then I came to this video and you mentioned the kick stand. I completely forgot about the kickstand. All I had to do was lift it , now my bike starts in gear when the clutch is pulled in. Thank you!
😆 too funny. Glad that I could be of help. Ride safe!
@@TheMotorcycleBoss Which part did you mention that? I have problems
I don't understand your question@@ruskyhrahsel7723
@@TheMotorcycleBoss in which part of the video did you mention about the kick stand?
I am very thankful for you man. I mean it. I just snapped off the plastic piece of the switch on my 2020 ZX6R an hour ago and I thought my entire world was over. A new clutch switch is $26.44 and because of you I can do this easily. I'll make a video on it too I think.
Thank you SO MUCH! I broke my switch putting on a new clutch lever. The manual didn’t warn of this.
Dang! That sucks! Well good thing you can replace it. Glad my video helped and I hope this was enough to earn you as a subscriber! Ride safe!
@@TheMotorcycleBoss was able to order the part today and will arrive tomorrow. It’s all good. One of the screws wouldn’t come out and was stripped so I cut it out. So I’ll be replacing with one screw but it will still work
I have a micro switch that may be falling apart and I don't have a replacement yet. Presumably, if you were stuck on the side of the road, you would be able to remove the wiring connector and jump the two connectors on the harness and be on your way. (Being very careful about starting in gear of course.) Great video. Good explanation.
@DavidM2002 thanks! Glad it was helpful. just keep in mind that some switches are naturally open and some are naturally closed.
@@TheMotorcycleBoss Good point. Thanks.
Very good video, I had the same problem with my Yamaha R3 and this helped me a lot!
Hey! Im glad that this video was able to help you. I have all kinds of videos similar to this one that may help you out as well. I hope you subscribe if you haven't already and I look forward to hearing from you in my other vids!
Very helpful to understand how the switch functions.
Glad this video helps. Thanks for letting me know
Thank you buddy, great video, it happens to me today and was wondering what when wrong??
Excellent explanation. I will fix it tomorrow.
Awesome! Glad to hear this video seems to be lining up with your problem. I hope you get it knocked out. Good luck with your project. Keep me updated and lmk how hit goes! Cheers!
Should have been smart like you and replaced mine as soon as mine stopped working.
Instead a month later, I dropped my bike, bent the shifter, then went to ride to work, to find out after I'd shifted into third that I couldn't downshift.
Almost made it to work, just in third gear, but inevitably stalled it, then couldn't start it again, because I coudln't shift back into neutral.
Think its time to replace my clutch switch, thanks for the video.
That sucks.
I have the same problem with my V-Strom 650. Thanks to you I wlll fix it and save some money. 👍
Awesome! I'm glad I could help! It seems to be a common issue that not very many people know about or even care to address. But it is an important safety feature to keep in good condition. Good luck with your project and I hope you subscribed if you haven't yet!
You really helped me! Having the same problem on my son's Gladius 650.
No problem! Glad I could help. Thanks for letting me know what you thought about the video and I hope I earned you as a subscriber! You two ride safe! Cheers!
keep your videos coming dude,,,don't be dishearted you're doing amazing job,,things just take time
let's ride thanks! It has been taking me years to get to this point. What can always help me is by sharing my channel and videos to the masses or at least your friends that may like it. I appreciate your support.
for sure,i'd def do that
Thank you, was able to take it apart, clean it and it was good as new!
Cool , I'm gonna try that
Mine was so rotted by the heat, there was no saving it. Glad you managed to save some money tho!
A related problem that causes confusion is the gear sensor falsely reporting the bike to be in gear when it's actually in neutral.
This is true. Fortunately, a simple continuity and resistance test should help anybody narrow down the problem.
Thx. Informative and easy to follow.
Thanks! I appreciate the comment. I hope this was enough to earn you as a subscriber. Ride safe and I look forward to hearing from you in the future!
But will that stop you from shifting gears
No. It is only really used as a safety switch to prevent the bike from starting in-gear without the clutch pulled in. Keeps the starter from moving the bike.
@@TheMotorcycleBoss ok ok. I changed my levers not bike won’t shift wit clutch
Thak you its' help me a lot with mi hayabusa!!
Love watching these videos. Find motorcycles so fascinating. Awesome stuff man. Give us more!
Louie Gee thanks. Im glad my videos are entertaining for you. Please let me know how im doing in my future vids.
You have a link in the comments for everything but the switch itself..
It became unavailable on Amazon. You can search the Kawasaki part #: 27010-0717. Good luck with your search!
How many wires are there inside the connector?...is it 3 or 2?..i need to get my connector changed, the plastic piece has broken, my switch is okay i hope
Usually there are just 2. But every bike is different so you want to check out your own bike.
@@TheMotorcycleBoss i have a ninja 650 ,2016
You are a real boss dude
Keep the good job up
Thanks a lot. New vids coming soon just been trying to get around to doing it.
Great video, thanks a lot!!
No problem! Glad it was helpful. I hope it was enough to earn you as a subscriber! Ride safe! Cheers!
Will this cause the bike to stall at an intersection? My 06 r6 idle will drop when coming to an intersection. Soon as I stop with clutch engage it dies.
Great tuitional video thanks 👍🏼😁
great! helped a lot
Thanks! Glad I could help! I hope it was enough to earn you as a subscriber and I'm looking forward to hearing from you in my future videos! Ride safe! Cheers!
Ok so when i pull my clutch in the bike shuts off could that be the switch ?
I wouldnt think so. If you are in neutral and pull in the clutch and it dies, seems to be the only reasonable solution tho. It is just a simple switch. So use a multimeter to test the switch and to test if it is causing it, either keep it unplugged and try to ride the bike, or jump the connection with a wire and see if that eliminates the problem. Every bike is different so you will have to test your switch to see if it is always open or closed at rest. The clutch switch at least on my bike, is designed to keep the bike from starting in the event that i try to start it in gear without the clutch pulled in. So if your bike is the same, it shouldnt do anything while you are in neutral. Try that for now. Good luck.
The Motorcycle Boss okay so i start up the bike and ride for like 20 minutes when im down shifting the throttle would go down to zero it doesn’t happen every time i ride it and when it shuts off i can start it when it’s in gear with the clutch pulled but if i pull on the throttle to rev while still holding the clutch in the rpm would go down to 0 and shuts off i have a 2007 r6 with 5k miles could it be clutch adjustment or throttle position sensor can you tell me what to look for here?
The Motorcycle Boss and when i check the switch do i check for voltage or resistance? Also my bike starts if the clutch pulled in and in gear ⚙️ and oh yeah the bike functions perfectly if turned on and parked but when im riding and down shifting that’s when it shuts off not every time though from time too time
You are checking the switch for continuity and resistance. You should see no resistance. It's just an on/off switch. But it doesn't seem like that is the issue, from what you are saying, i would think the fuel pump maybe at fault. The throttle position sensor is also a culprit. Yamahas tps' are known to have issues in some years. Grab a reliable multimeter and an accurate measuring cup, grab your service manual, and troubleshoot.
Wost case scenario, it may even be an ecu going out but that is normally not the case.
know where i can order a 2020 ninja 400 clutch switch?
Here you go: ebay.us/GVr3F2
Another option is to order it through your local Kawasaki Dealer. Hope this helps. I've purchased from this Ebay seller before and they have 100% positive feedback. You won't be disappointed by the seller I'm certain.
thk bro
Mine is 128 klms old and doing the same.
Fortunately it's a very easy part to replace as well as being inexpensive. Small piece with an important purpose
Where did you order your replacement from?
I got mine from ridenow powersports. You can order them through any kawasaki dealer. Or just go to www.bikebandit.com
I broke my switch a few days.
