  • I have received many, many emails and comments from other counseling students, current and former, as well as teachers, professors, parents, and clients of SJ counselors who are telling me about experiences similar to what I've seen at Antioch. In this video I read a few of your comments, and invite you to contact me to talk about your story in more depth. If you are interested in having a conversation with me about your experiences (to be shared via this channel) you can contact me through my website at theradicalcent...

To thank you for contributing, every contributor at any financial level is invited to submit a personal, professional, or ethical dilemma or challenge that you would like help considering- Think "Dear Abby," only this is "Dear Leslie." I will select one submission and engage in a meaningful discussion of the presenting issue with a wise friend on video and release it on my youtube channel. I can't promise that we will solve your problem, but we will take it seriously and give our carefully considered opinions. I will continue to do these periodically, as long as there is interest in this project.

I live in Portland, OR where the wokiest of the woke spend their days patrolling and monitoring others for any perceived slight they can be offended by. As a therapist who received a meaningless piece of paper from a 'social justice' graduate school, I would say that it gets better once you are in practice. You don't have to take the woke agenda to your practice as a counselor - you can leave it behind like some bad dream that cost you an awful lot of money. There is a place for therapists who don't push agendas or ideologies, who ask the important questions, and yes, challenge clients on their perceptions and thoughts. I wish you the absolute best. You're doing something important here and I'm cheering you on from afar.

@@williamkraemer8338 As a psychologist who was taught all of this stuff while I was in school, I can answer that we still get taught (or at least I did) the fundamentals of psychology, the basics of personality development, and theories of personality and behavior. My experience has been that the people who went to school for the express purpose of helping people deal with psychological and behavioral difficulties are still very adept at actually carrying that task out, despite the terrible woke educational add-ons. As a therapist/counselor, you are still just one human being listening to the struggles of another human being and doing your best using a high level of knowledge about human behavior and psychology to help them sort through those struggles.

The college campus is ground zero, and tactically the most important battle ground, but this critical theory/intersectionality nonsense has seeped far beyond those borders. It has altered the way a grocer can run his or her business, and the ability of a teacher to address their student as an individual with a unique set of characteristics and needs. I hope after you talk with fellow students that you will talk with people coping with this in other walks of life; this is a problem that will need to be addressed holistically.

    • @mikekasich836

. what they are trying to do is raise an army of people who hate and resent white people. that is the purpose of critical race Theory. it offers no solutions. it's not designed to Foster equality. it's designed to teach black people that all of their white friends and peers and all the white people that they meet are secretly oppressing them. it's designed to create and Foster feelings of resentment by black people against white people and feelings of submissive guilt among the white people to not push back against it
and it results in things like this
      ua-cam.com/video/qe_EXlVPdDA/v-deo.html
and that's just the beginning.. I think it's important for you to use the proper terminology.
the social justice warrior types are not angry at you for missing the point. the correct way to describe what you saw was "the black supremacists are angry at you for exposing their racism"
has anyone in your field would know terminology is important. it's important to paint the correct picture and to convey the correct message. these people don't want equality. they want revenge against white people. they are trying to promote black supremacy. and the same way you would feel and describe it if there was groups of white supremacists using therapists to convince white patients across the country to resent and hate black people. the same way you would feel and react if White supremacists were getting teaching jobs and teaching entire classes that black people are bad and to promote white supremacy.. the same way you would feel and react to that is how you should be feeling and reacting to this because it is the same thing. just because it's black against white rather than white against black doesn't mean it's not racist
and like those videos showed you these have real world consequences. these are creating generations of people that despise White people. I don't want to get into the hyperbole of genocide but every time in history that there has been a massive racist maybe not Holocaust but some kind of racial oppression it has always begun in the same way. first you have to Foster feelings of resentment and hatred towards the race you want to oppress then comes the rest. Hitler did not start with train cars. he started by fostering resentment and hatred towards the specific demographic. he started by blaming them for all the countries problems. and then he started slowly segregating them. slowly pushing policies that were targeted against them. but it did not start with the train cars
and I don't know about genocide in America but we've seen genocide in South africa. we saw the government of South Africa steal the land from the white farmers and then massacre them. that was a real thing that happened..
there was a literal white genocide in South africa. now nobody's saying that racism against black people is right either. but it's important to use the correct terminology because you are in a position to expose a very racist ideology that's targeted to create discrimination. and if you truly try to fight for equality you have to push back against this the right way. you can't call them social justice warriors and assume that they have good intentions because they don't. they are FILLED with hate
these are not the drum circle peace and love hippies of the 1960s. these are not the people that went to woodstock. these are an entirely different group of people trying to hide behind the message of those people. but these are very fascist and hateful people that we're dealing with. and the first step is recognizing that. that you're not dealing with peace and love hippies who want equality you're dealing with very hateful and racist people only they are hateful and racist against white people..
and that is what this entire movement has been about. the entire critical race Theory is designed by black supremacists both white and black to Foster feelings of hatred and to Foster hatred and racism against white people so that it will be easier to discriminate against them..
so I implore you to use your platform to use the correct terminology and descriptions of what's happening. these are not anti-racist people being angry at you for misinterpreting their words. you interpreted it correctly.. these are very racist black supremacists who are angry at you for exposing their racism..

I have Auditory Processing Disorder, so I have a unique perspective to human interaction. Language is the biggest tool that bring people together, but it also is the most judged aspect of any bodies personality because it's so key, communication is highly prized value of interpersonal interaction. The question of why someone would be woke or not.. leads me to look at group-think relationship to narcissism, I think there's a connection that narcissist can get through conflict but there needs to be a present cognitive ability for someone to find refuse in woke narcissistic tools. From my perspective I have to wonder about people who are cognitively faster at processing language, do they see ways to take advantage of others or get to practice tools of manipulation on a regular basis, and woke ideology give those people a narcissistic appealing tool to control people on a one on one environment?

    • @erhardtharris8727
      @erhardtharris8727 Рік тому +4

Bingo. You're on the same track of thinking as my own.
Early verbal adeptness is early social adeptness. Language is symbolic and categorical, aiding in maneuvering through the intantibles of every exchange. Most people will inherently take advantage of all present systematic structures to maximize one's own leverage, advantage, and ease - as quickly, cheaply, and easily as possible - even at others expense. Narcissists simply "learn" early on that they can leverage upon others without much reciprocation or repayment - gaining unearned benefit via hypocrisy appearing as virtue - utilizing & leveraging whatever intangible systems & expectations are in place in any culture they can adeptly learn & embed themselves in. And they will value the leverage of whatever structures exist, above other persons who also stand to gain or expect value. Verbal adeptness is like athletic adeptness - an advantage on the school playground, but they do not inherently translate toward constructive and lasting virtue nor long-lasting value. Hence, the narcissist's problems as life situations become prolonged - or when their trusted artificial, collectivist, tribally-leveraged systems become deficient themselves. Narcissists aren't TRULY about universal human value and independent reasoning & interactively valuable multi-way interactions. No. They desire to be 'on top' with you as an owned vassal, who is either nothing or an accessory to their lifestyle.

@@erhardtharris8727 Wow, yes. Do you know any studies on this?
Though my investigating in to narcissism is that it's quite possible a basic human trait. So the spiritual understand of narcissism is a deep wound of jealousy, followed up by a deep desire to connect with people, though we all seek connections. So the strategies evolve, or a fantasy world forms where the narcissist is "always right" to alleviate the self perceived deficit, and they learn to speak in ways where they can secretly determine that they are always right as well. But there's more to it, the connection, leadership, confidence, things that are a traits as well, and we all live in a fantasy world of narratives, we just argue as to which one is "more" correct. There's connection in that arguments as well, as being understood by another human being is also a very real form of connection. Narcissist will just keep a little bit of secret space for themselves, and an inherent, yes, and I'm still more correct than you. Though narcissist have levels of compliance that they use on people as well. So yeah, tools like postmodernism seem to give more wings to the fantasy world narcissists live in, so that they can control people to feel more connected to people, so they bid their time to take control out of just logic of being the good person. But we all do that to some degree, seek being good relative to the tribe, so it gets confusing as to what narcissism is in terms of Evolutionary Psychology, I think there's a history of leading and being led that exists in culture and biology.

My childhood was missing basic parental emotional support in many ways. That might sound like a bad way to start your life but it ended up having certain positive side effects. I learned early that I was going to be responsible for my own happiness. I became very self reliant and independent. As a child I found ways to entertain myself and I discovered hobbies and became a good student in school. It gave me a certain kind of strength inside that helped me deal with any challenge that happened to come across my path. It helped me to defend against peer pressure and efforts to condition me in negative ways. I was rarely afraid to challenge authority and I acquired very good critical thinking skills because I never trusted anybody by blindly following. I learned to do research and became very resourceful when it came to problem solving and understanding life's challenges. This process fed on itself. Currently I love to learn and discover things for myself and even your story is an opportunity to learn from what you are going through and how we can all learn to make the world a better place.

I will be trying myself to contact you, with information that you may find useful, and that may help explain much to you. I want nothing, whatsoever, except to impart what I know, and what I've learned, over the past 40+ years.

Meaning, who owns who and what...following the money...Royalty, Banking, Governments, Think Tank Groups, Law, Contracts, Ancient History ect. Of course it changed me and my life. For your consideration, by becoming a licensed therapist, you would need to agree to be bound by the ethics of the APA (regardless of its direction). For myself and my wife, though we earned accredited Master's degrees in counseling, we chose not to go that path and are now relationship coaches (which is unregulated at this time). We also do not take third party payment (which can limit options for clients), but depending on the type of help and work you want to do with others, the education may be very beneficial, but the degree and licensure may not be. (And, who knows, they may also strip such licensure from those in the future who go against their narrative or ideological agenda. That was another reason we did not do the licensure path... so much hard work and too easy for someone to strip it away with their agendas. Perhaps the *real* play here is for people to create a parallel organization to the APA which approves of counselors without requiring the leftist ideological framework that people who care about such things will value and look for *that* seal of approval instead of the existing establishment one.)

Thank you for sharing this Leslie. I'm a 4th year medical student, and have experienced extremism very similar to what you say in my program. Dissent is impossible, and other students who have dissented to these views have already been expelled or transferred. The indoctrination is mandatory, at least at my program, and I along with the few centrist / right of center students among us avoid all political conversations and engagement as a result. A vivid memory from earlier in the curriculum was an "ethics" seminar that had students pair up and discuss their beliefs on abortion and Catholic hospitals after a short lecture on the needs for abortion, and the inherent "evil" of Catholic medical practice. Please keep strong and continue speaking on this - I would speak out too if I didn't have to give up my career I've worked so hard for. Medicine board certification is gatekept by these ideologies, and unfortunately, if we wish to maintain voices of truth and grounded reality, many will have to suffer through these curricula and be trampled by the stampede in the process.

Had an ironic incident at work. I was trying to add an additional signer to a clinical note. I wanted to give them a heads-up to the content of my session with their client. They use a different name from the one they were given. In accordance with their wishes and with agency guidance, I was duly referring to my colleague by their preferred name - so much so that, over time, their given name had escaped me. Using their preferred name had become my natural reference. When I tried to add them to the clinical note I was unable to accomplish the directory lookup because the patient record system (which is all the institution really cares about) uses their given name in the electronic directory system. I had to call a third person to inquire as to the genderless colleague's given name. At that point I reflected there was some irony to the work atmosphere. I'm quite certain the institution uses their given name in every single official transaction such as pay processing. Funny they reserve that prerogative.

Hi Leslie, I imagine you've also gotten supportive feedback from people who are not white. I find this important to note because, in my experience, many of the well-meaning white colleagues in my program have the perception that non-white people are a monolith. This is a fallacy. To me, monoliths only exist when people are stuck in immature forms of groupthink, trauma-bonding, and lack of individuation/differentiation. As an Asian man, there was a time where a portion of CRT appealed to me. The multicultural perspectives class at my grad program re-evoked childhood memories and adult experiences of racism that I internalized as a sense of not being enough. But this can be said of any sort of trauma or unpleasant experience. Should the fact that I wear glasses be grounds for me and other sympathizers to launch a woke campaign to force people with 20/20 vision to apologize for their vision privilege? That would be ridiculous. While there may be legitimate things CRT speaks to, it offers no sense of personal responsibility. It isn't about true empowerment, but about remaining in the drama triangle and using that as grounds for being resentful and entitled. Once I realized that, I no longer cared for hunting for reasons to feel resentful and powerless. Collectivism in and of itself is not the gold standard. It simply is, and sometimes it carries a lot of problems. I'm optimistic that many people who are not white already see through this or are beginning to see through it. I certainly do and absolutely support your integrity in speaking to this issue. Now many non-white people have to deal with supposedly well-meaning and virtuous racial profiling of white people programmed with this mind virus. It's truly mind boggling 😂

Thank you. Yes, I've had support from people of all racial backgrounds. I agree with what you're saying here. We all deserve to be seen for who we are, not as representatives of a given racial group.

    1. Explorer
    2. Pioneer
    3. Settlers
    4. Gunslingers
I am explorer. With solutions and early fighting. With the scars to prove it.
You are the pioneer. Able to connect with the people and make practical changes.
Most people are settlers. Don’t like change. Obey the culture rules. It is only when enough explorers and pioneers have physically created a new way that the settlers will join. At this point it almost “overnight” society changes, though actually 20 years of strong humans to get there
The critics are the gunslingers. They will never be open to anything or like anything. Ignore them.

I'm so glad I went to university back in the 90's. I can't imagine what this must be like. The whole premise of university WAS freedom of thought and speech, fostering independent thinking (as opposed to swallowing doctrine), debate and problem solving. My undergraduate thesis was supervised by a man who had run for parliament under the Conservative Party (right wing in the UK). I've always been left wing, but currently politically homeless. Anyway, we had so many lovely discussions in his little office, and I didn't for one moment rubbish his opinions on things. We had a reasoned discussion and I listened politely to his thoughts and HE LISTENED TO ME! That is what academia should be, and everyone should be allowed to have their own opinion!!!!!!
I'm not sure what degree you were doing (or postgrad), but if it is counselling related, I think they earn so much money out of this from the "oppressed and disenfranchised" that perhaps that is why they take this tack. Certainly people who are concerned about their gender identity are often looking for counselling. Sadly, there is a lot that is narcissistic about today's forms of counselling - people who are by their own definition dysphoric spend most of their time navel-gazing and thinking about THEMSELVES. Inevitably they cannot find empathy for anyone on the receiving end of their "rights". Once I was in a bar where a woman was distressed as she found a male in the establishment's toilets. She had been raped in a toilet before. She had a very public and humiliating panic attack before the entire eating area. I was with a friend and her married gay, male child. The gay couple made comments about why should she be so upset about a man in the Ladies toilets, and seemed like she was making a scene and a drama out of it. Basically they had NO EMPATHY at all for her. Precisely zero. A couple of years later, I saw this couple in a UA-cam documentary about furries. My friend's son was being walked in public on a leash, with a leather mask on, acting out being a "pup". His husband was walking him. 🙄 These things, I think, are the Fall of the Roman Empire all over again. In broad daylight, people act out their sexual fantasies, in the street, making everyone unwitting participants in their sex lives. 😑 No wonder they think this poor, raped woman was "uptight", they are basically m@sturbating in the street.
    ENTITLED, much.
Unfortunately this is going to end in a massive backlash.

Moving from Minneapolis to Texas where I have a few friends was extremely hard financially after the turmoil of the last 2.5 years, but the trade off finally being in a more open, relaxed, less political culture is worth it.
People outside of hard leftist dominated cultures (typically Northern cities in North America) don't take the most sinister interpretation. You get a lot more benefit of the doubt, and positive assumptions. People have assumed I have their political values here solely because they like me and think I have good qualities.
I'm used to being treated as pathological just for being a straight white man, and as a political enemy solely for diverging from their ideology.
Pay close attention to signs of authentic acceptance in people and places around you. Surviving the soft sciences in university will be an epicenter of Critical Social Justice nearly everywhere you go. Look at your options. You could start a better life long term in the place where you find the most openness and acceptance of human beings.
