I carry chalk with me. Like your formula on figuring hole placement. But I use the Truckers Slide Calculator, and it works great.

I wonder is a magnet would also work in place of the rock method? Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

Good job, I might retitle video to "How to adjust trailer tandems when overweight". Just a thought. ;)

I think for the purpose of this video, you should have done a reweigh then show both tickets to corroborate your numbers. Good video tho!

      I DON’T think so.
Your truck is only rated for 36,000lbs??
IF that’s true, your 6,780lbs over your gross weight.
I don’t have a lot of experience with a single drive axles.
The rule of thumb, (with twin drive axles) is:
      12,000 / 34,000 / 34,000
      That’s the max…which equals 80,000 lbs.

      42,780 - 36,000 = 6,780 over GROSS

It all depends on what your truck is registered for.
Your using this truck for commercial work, right?
Look at your “cab card”, your “apportioned registration” sheet from your state. It will tell you what your truck is registered to carry. For instance, mine is 80,000lbs. It’ll also tell you what your truck is rated for in ALL states.
