Pro tip - rotating the green stalks is typically a main attribute to growing in them. With the auto watering system, all the hose clips placed on one side of the planter isn’t needed to keep the vertical water line in place, so use one every other pot (or tier) and take the others and put them on the opposite side of the planter (or buy extra clips and place them on opposite sides of each other on the planter). When time to rotate the planter, simply remove the vertical hose from the clips, spin planter around to other side, clip water line back in on the opposite side. Bam, back in business.

Thank you for this tip! Greenstalk should give you some kind of compensation lol. I've been contemplating getting the watering system but the rotating business was holding me back. Your tip makes perfect sense and now I'm off to buy one!

@@kategerber2893 Awesome, thanks for the kind words Kate. I was an early adopter and purchased two of them several years ago when they first started getting popular. I grow a wide variety in mine pretty much year round. A lot of what i plant grows wide so i have the snap on support system as well for both and both have the auto water system as well. I have both set on a B-Hyve brand timer that automatically waters both twice a day and can be controlled from an app on my phone. My suggestion is when you decide to water them, water them twice in a row, essentially turn on the water to them for about a minute (you may have to experiment with this based on your hose pressure but 1 min on my system fills a six tier green stalk just about to the top of the watering tray, for me anything longer than a min will overflow the top bowl), after that wait about five minutes then repeat again, watering for another 1 minute then done until they need water again (this can be automated via programing on a hose bib mounted timer). Another handy tool is soil moisture sensors, i have two of those in my greenstalks (one in each at the mid tier). The ones I have are "ecowitt" brand, they take a single AA battery and you push them into the soil and can monitor the soil moisture levels on your phone and even setup alerts to notify you if your garden gets below a soil moisture threshold so you can water. Good luck growing!!

Makes it kind of difficult to rotate the Greenstalk around, especially with a setup that connects multiple Greenstalks.

I was wondering how that worked. Do you disconnect them to turn them? Anxiously awaiting my planters and spring set up!

You can get tubing from the hardware store to make it so you can turn.

Under what circumstances do you plug the bottom of the unit so the water doesn’t drain out. Also, when do you keep the tube in for drainage? Thanks
