...Illumination have cracked the code. Maximum profits for minimum effort. They have officially become the Pokemon Company of the movie industry. So let's just sit down and enjoy the ride... - Фільми й анімація
Fun fact: Minions 2 was
the longest-advertised animated film in motion picture history, due to a nearly 2½-year gap between its first trailer and its official release.
well its no surprise there. There was at least two years of nothing releasing because of the pandemic so it's no surprise it took two years for it to finally release.
Why do I see you everywhere nowadays?
That doesn’t surprise me
Thought it was
I thought the delays were unnecessary but when I watched the movie on July 2, 2022 I was thankful that they delayed it for 2 or 3 years
Saw this movie with friend last night, as joke I brought two ties we could wear to be partial “gentleminions” there was only two other people in room as us and they left during the final showdown, 15 minutes before movie ended. Watching them leave was the biggest genuine laugh me and my friend had for entire movie
I’m glad I’m not the only one that loves Nun-Chuck, plus I love that she turns into a snake as an ironic twist on typical religious lore that snakes represent the devil
WAIT HER NAME IS NUN-CHUCK?
THAT'S AMAZING
"typical religious lore" lmao
i always thoughr it was a metaphor for how the churches are corrupt, parallel to the snake who steals and manipulates humans in the bible. maybe im thinking too into the minions the rise of gru lore
Did someone also just stopped working when god pulls her up
@@rafaelrivera7594 she has the powers of GOD AND ANIME ON HER SIDE!!!
I’ll admit, once you let go of the stupid illumination typical, it’s just a movie you can immerse in the chaos, plus at least Gru gives the story direction
It’s clever because at the end the guy said “shoot to the moon” to gru, which he does is despicable me 1. He shoots the moon

I am so glad someone is finally giving Nun-chuck love
"the biscuit barrel" sounds like the most british thing ever
i love it
The part I laughed at the most was where Bob gave a passenger a single peanut on the airplane idk why I thought it was so funny
I've always loved cringey and immature animated content. When my friends were avoiding animated movies like the plague calling it childish, I flaunted my love for the Barbie movies and Despicable me movies. I'm so happy nowadays that people are unapologetically enjoying kids media for what it is, a goofy and fun time!!
I wouldn't say despicable me is cringey or immature, I think the first two movies are legitimately quality animated movies targeted at kids. The movies after that were definitely more on the childish and goofy side of things, even though I still enjoyed them for the most part.
To be honest, I kinda liked the whole arc about Wild Knuckles and Gru. I mean, it’s an obvious retcon (considering he was never mentioned before), but I think they actually did okay with it? I’m a sucker for found family dynamics, which is why I unironically like the first Despicable Me. The rest of the movie was alright-a few laughs here and there, definitely more charming than the first-but I genuinely enjoyed their relationship and the time they spent together. Frankly, I wish they made the entire movie about that instead of minions. It also makes sense for young Gru as a character to have Wild Knuckles taking him under his wing when you think of his future of adopting his kids, gradually learning to love them and deciding he wants to continue to be a part of his life…just like Wild Knuckles did for him (though he was never his dad, you get the point).
It was fun seeing the story of how Gru became a villan. But this movie felt kinda fast paced and it wasn't illuminations best in my opinion.
I don't really plan on seeing this movie tbh
I saw it, it was really good but it wasn’t as good as other movies. The plot was better than the 3rd despicable me movie so I guess it’s ranked 3rd out of all the illumination movies
The only thing I didn't like about this masterpiece is the fact that everyone seemed to understand the minions weird language, I always imagined that gru was the only one able to understand them.
eh nearly everyone knows what they speak even us
Isn’t “minion language” just Spanish??
(Idk I only studied spanish for 2 years lol but I recognized some words)

I thought this movie was weird. The whole opening credits seen with it's Skyfall/James Bond style made me uncomfortable. Like you mentioned, the other villains in the vicious six were just... there. I feel like instead of Gru bonding with Wild Knuckles, it would have been cool if he accidentally dragged Dr. Nefario into the mess, then we could have seen a cool backstory on how they bonded! Then we could have gotten that fun Sci-Fi element. Maybe I'm just down because the last couple of movies I've seen in theaters were subpar, but I feel like this movie should have taken a much different turn for its plot. After all, most of the good stuff was shown in the previews. While this movie still got plenty of laughs from me, it wasn't my favorite. I'll stick to the Minions 1.
(There, I added stuff!)
Ok
omg exited for the addition
Its possible that they're saving Dr. Nefario for future movies tho
@@lukee_v it wouldn’t make sense if they drag dr nefario in the mess sense it’s only about gru mastering villainy
Dazz: no one dies in illumination films
Me with my 10 page speech about how gru and the minions have probably killed tons of people just by doing their thing in the movies: Ehhhhhh

@@poweroffriendship2.0 I forgot about that I don’t need my ten page speech anymore
By the time this movie came out, I was already over The Minions. I don't think they're bad characters, I just grew up and moved on to other things.
Like what?
Gru up lol
It is just a stupid fun movie. It isnt supposed to be a benchmark of someone growing up by not watching it.
What an odd take.
Why
you're not supposed to take movies like this seriously anyways, you just watch it for fun 🤣
I'll admit, it wasn't as bad as I expected. There were a few pretty good jokes, and had a decent story.
...also a male rooster laid a fertilized egg
Magic.
That scene was traumatizing. I didn't even think about how the chicken was male, I was just horrified that some demon tick tack bird launched dozens of its unborn children at a giant snake
@@catsarebeans8298 cartoon logic i guess
@@catsarebeans8298 it was wasn’t it ☠️
Male rooster laying an egg is like the first ever man to give birth to a child.
Honestly, these are a guilty pleasure in these movies. There is some fun to this sort of silly stuff.
Nun-Chuck is iconic. When she praid to fly, I laughed so hard. I think she's the only memorable villain in the group, and it's kinda of shame, cause I really wanted to see the rest with some gags or something
Some person said they like the sing movies more than the despicable me movies. Here’s my opinion
Despicable Me > Sing
Rise of Gru > Sing 2
Sing > Minions
That’s it. Whoever said that they like sing more than despicable me is smoking crack. Sing 2 is the exact same plot as the first Sing.
really? they like sing more?
@@ChemicalPenguinn apparently yes
real
I also love Nun Chuck. After nuns being in the background of almost all Illumination movies, they made one a character. It's great. XD
Even tho I love The Incredibles 2 this is honestly what I wish The Incredibles 2 was like. And technically Despicable Me 3 was like a superhero movie.
I can say this was way better than Lightyear
same
I’m gonna say it, I love the despicable me franchise, I understand none of the movies are particularly good but gosh darn they’re fun and also I think some form of nostalgia for the first and second move is holding me hostage 🧎♀️
The biscuit barrel? Yeah I'm subbed to their youtbe channel. Best skit is the organic tea or the one where they are in an office and fighting paper aeroplanes
Minions 2 actually has so many continuity errors and retcons it's kinda ridiculous on the writers part even for a kids film tbh. For starters Minions 1 was in 1968 while the second film is set in 1976 but Gru hasn't aged a day and is apparently 11 from a source out there which would make him only 3 or 4 in Minions 1. Also they retconed how Gru meet Nerfario. In Minions whenever they're at the villian con thingy you can spot Gru and his mother in the background as an easter egg while Nerfario is demonstrating his freezeray to them. Gru later uses one of his freezerays at the very end of the film to steal Queen Elizabeth's crown from Scarlett Overkill. Yet in the direct sequel to that film Gru nor Nerfario seem to be familiar with one another and they try to make this gag with a cheeseray implying the freezeray hasn't been invented yet despite chronologically seeing it earlier than this. And then Nerfario's younger look got a complete overhaul compared to his minor appearance in what I just mentioned. Also apparently Vector is around the same age as Gru despite his father reiterating that Vector is younger than Gru in the first movie so yeah that doesn't add up either. It's not that I'm genuinely mad about these inconsistencies or anything but how can these writers mess up this bad? This franchise is like Illumination's pride and joy lmao.
Seeing a Jaws poster really dates things. God....
Don't quite agree with "it's probably one of illumination's best" since it undermines the first despicable me movie wich actually was very good in a lot of ways
That's why it's one of the best. Not the best. The best is definitely the first Despicable Me.
@@pundertalefan4391 you're kinda right, idk why I commented that.
@@protastudios No problem. XD
honestly if you'd be closeby i would definitly come to watch your comedy group. i love sketches and cabaret and stand up comedy is big in my country so i think many would watch it
minions rise of gru was a 7.5/10, thought it would’ve been much worse, but if it was made by like dreamworks, probably would be a 6
When I saw the trailer I thought that oh no it’s another illumination movie this is going to be terrible but then I saw the movie and it was so good like as good as the first despicable me And seeing all the characters young was pretty fun
I didnt even recognize young dr nefario
My aunty bought my cousin, brother and I tickets to see this movie. I saw it on a Saturday afternoon in a theatre packed with kids. All of them were laughing at nearly everything the minions did, including my 10 year old cousin. I laughed 5 or 6 times mostly at stuff not directed towards the kiddie audience. And when I left the theatre I thought, "Meh". I don't really remember anything about it and I didn't love it or hate it. It's a movie. But at least a lot of children got joy out of it.
Yep. That's about the title I expected for this review.
I just watched this today, and honestly I'm glad there was less minion in this movie then the last. But honestly I felt like this shouldn't have been a minions movie, it should've been a backstory movie for gru and his surrogate father figure Wild Knuckles, those scenes were genuinely heart warming. Also the final battle being that the minions fight off these giant monsters all of a sudden didn't really sit well with me, it felt way too rushed, wild knuckles honestly should've kicked all their asses instead of the literal fucking yellow bean side kicks.
I also feel as if minions rise of gru should have been a gru backstory. If u take the minions out, it makes the movie a bit better at least. It should have been Despicable Me: The Rise Of Gru
@@silverhawk24 it should not have been called despicable me: the rise of gru since it has nothing to do with the main plot like the family. I guess that’s why it’s called minions: the rise of gru cause it was the sequel to the minions movie
yeah the final battle and that [lack of logic] was so weird to me
Haha Great review! I dig the channel. SUBBED!
i am going to be honest, i loved this movie. one of my favourites.

Fun fact: (spoiler warning but who cares) at the end of the movie, wild knuckles tells gru to shoot for the moon, which gru does in despicable me 1 as gru steals the moon.

To be honest kids deserve better than pee and poo jokes and need movies that treat them like they aren't around just to see crappy movies

Exactly why I follow you on youtube!
You know what, if it were me back then I’d complain at how a movie isn’t some epic subversive masterpiece, but I grew up to enjoy things for what they are and this movie established that for me. It’s outlandish and fast-paced- but I love every bit of this movie along with despicable me 1/2. It was also fun seeing all the Easter eggs from the 1st and 2nd movie.
If I can enjoy something even while my brain is turned off then it passed as a good movie
After all that, all I can ask is; why does gru have three nostrils in the thumbnail?
Nah, that’s just the tip of his pointy ass nose.

1:12 *The Super Mario Bros. Movie enters the room*
Interesting fact. Top Gun Maverick was asked to remove something from their movie (a jacket patch) by the Chinese government, and they refused to. So, Top Gun Maverick wasn’t released in China.
And yet the film has done extremely well for itself becoming the top most rated film of the year, and it did it without debuting in China or getting that Chinese revenue.
It’s a refreshing reminder that you don’t need to pamper to everyone or have the look of your film determined by other countries. Story alone can get audiences hooked, and you can still make a lot of money without sacrificing artistic integrity by tailoring everything to appease foreign markets.
He mentions some festival I’ve never heard of.
i love how this goes from vaguely calling the minions movie good to vaguely calling the chinese government out
which is false btw the chinese government is not in any way or form propegndist we all love not killing people when they stand infront of our tanks as well as not silencing others if they speek too much about the chinese government.
anyways to be fair the only reason the minions made over 1 billion is because of the memes
Every single competitive game eventually runs into the "Tier 1 brain dead" deck/character that just lets you slam your broken options without interacting with the opponent in any meaningful way that isn't making your win condition safer.
This ends up being an often oppressive force in the metagame no matter what form it takes, with many players that have passion for the game souring at the lack of ingenuity and interaction, while casual players love being able to do their broken things without worrying about their intricate pieces being blown away.
Illumination has found that. They are now the broken, way-too-good-for-how-simple-it-is, almost unstoppable juggernaut in the animated movies meta, and the devs are not implementing any balance changes to the game any time soon, so we may as well accept its presence and play around it when it comes up.
I like this take. It's still mediocre, but it's also game-defining in how prevalent this studio has become and how effective their strategies are at making the most money.
It just sucks that this is what it has to be to get there
I’m assuming you watch this in the theaters, if not please tell me where you watched this, I’d love to see it as soon as possible

@@PichusBlueberryPies ok ;-;
Honestly I loved this movie. I saw it in the theatre with a few pals (wearing suits of course) and we loved it. I’d honestly watch it again because the color scheme was well done and I loved the Gru direction and being able to see some 70s themed stuff. I thought the first movie was good (although with a few plot holes and being overall okay) and that another one would be a terrible choice but I was proven wrong. Before the second movie I could only see the minions as bad marketing stunt and kinda hated them. But this movie actually made me enjoy them and they were definitely less in-your-face and annoying as in the other films. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I would love to see a third installment to see where the story goes next. Wild Knuckles surprisingly added a lot to the story and the cameos were interesting and had my friends and I looking for more clues. I like that they also didn’t try to make the cameos too obvious but at the same time I wish they did more with Dr. Nefario. His introduction was very well done but the ending of just having him casually joining an 11 year-old and his yellow friends did seem lazy too me. If they fleshed that part out more I would have loved it. I think the main reason I really liked this film was that I never got any advertising for it. Surprisingly zero in the 2 years they were pushing people to watch it. Honestly the universal timing of seeing this was perfect so maybe it’s just me but Minions two was a pretty good movie, not the best but definitely an improvement from their recent movies. the Despicable Me movies will always have a special place in my heart (except the third one probably one if the worst movies ever) and I’m very fortunate to have seen this movie with such special people.
I thought the movie was alright. NunChuck was by far my favorite, but I also thought Belle Bottom was cool.
I hated how they showed the final showdown in the trailers because once act 3 started, i basically got bored and just wanted it to end
I don't know about anyone else but the first 15 mins or so was very overwhelming for me.
I do not understand how this movie caused the reaction that it did. People dressing up, ok weird but sure, but the whole throwing bananas was insane
The reason for the chinatown detour part really puts the film in a new light. Can't even watch it ironically now. Not surprised illumination went that low for money.
Opinon: ABSOLUTELY DENIED!!!
the editing in this video is great
That’s it, I just wanted to say that

Another thing about Illumination is that _none_ of their movies have ever been a bomb. Hence why I have hopes for their Mario movie.
Why did Minions 2 - a discrease to humanity - so much meme attention, but not something like Bad guys or Lightyear or burning dead aka better than average films. It just hurts me on a gigantic level
The Minions 2 got memes most likely because some people think that only kids can like the Minions, and that anyone can like a movie, but it grew one of the most toxic fanbases I have seen in a short while.
