Just bought my 1st dump trailer out right last week. Thanks for all the videos Robert, been watching you for a while & finally took the initiative. Really interested in booking a session...
Ruffian, How did you do on the dump Trailer business.? Seen its been a year now.. I just bought a like new 14` Gooseneck dump. Let me know if it worked out for you.
Very useful. I have just purchased my 1st dump trailer and a mini excavator. I haven't taken possession yet, but this helps me understand how to figure out the billing. Thank you! Subscribed.
I love this video Robert, I had already seen it, but came back to it because I am about to call a local roofer and offer my services to him. He has a dump trailer, but you never know when he will need 2 at different locations 👍🏻.
@@hustlenation4779 my dump trailer is a 7 by 14 I had to put commercial insurance on it have you made any videos about the cost of the insurance and DOT regulations?
You’ve become my new favorite UA-camr. I’m all about side hustles! I came across your channel a few weeks ago searching for dumper trailer content because I’m looking to get in on the hustle. I’ve got a 1/2 truck with about 7,500lb tow capacity so I’m looking at a 5x10 or 6x10 trailer. My question is, will I be able to get things done with that combination?
Get as much trailer as you can handle. I bought a 5x10 utility trailer with 2 foot walls just to tow a mower. Now I'm trimming trees and really wished I had a 6x12 or even 14 to be able to reduce the number of trips to the dump. My jobs have been only 10-15 miles from the dump, but its still a solid hour driving to the dump, unloading, and getting back to the job site.
New here. Only just found you sir. One thing I have observed. Do you just dump everything? With scrap metal prices on the up and lumber prices going crazy. Would it be worth picking the load real quick at the landfill? You could be passing money by there
You make a really good point. For the most part the labor it takes to sort through the load does not justify the amount of money that you would receive by doing that.
Forgot to ask a question about flat tires. I imagine that hauling trailers around construction and/or roofing job sites you can easily pick up a nail or lose a tire or two. How do you account for these expenses?
Get an extra tire and on your free time switch them and take them to a local tire shop. Tell them to plug them from the inside out. They have very good plugs if you plug them depending on the weight and the air pressure they'll come out. Atleast mine did. So I had no choice but to take them to a shop. Plus the trailer with atleast 5-6 tons weights 8-9 tons that's allot of pressure for simple plugs.
This niche looks interesting and I haven't seen many dump trailers around here, but was wondering.... Do you run ads and place signs so people know you, or maybe you have other ways of marketing yourself...? Thank you.
Very rarely do I do that. I have about five other endeavors that I engage in on a daily basis. It is rather difficult if I was having to do all four trailers every day.
Yeah I had a roofer put 2 houses worth of shingles in my 20 yard trailer. 14,000 lbs including the container and my warn winch was rated for 15,000. It almost didn't pick it up. Ill never let that happen again
How do you deal with people who don’t pay after you’ve picked up and dumped ? Is there any type of contract involved? Never been in business for myself so I’d like to think most people would pay what you verbally agree upon.
Thanks Robert! I have a question. I know every state has their own rules but as far as DOT goes, did you have to register with the DOT in your state? Especially when you haul construction? I heard the rule is you can’t weigh or be capable of weighing more than 10,000 lbs. but i don’t know if that 10,000 is for the trailer only or truck and trailer. Thanks for any I put Ake clarification you can give on this
60k is a budget truck?!😂😂 Let's get real. Sure maybe compared to other vehicles in its class but these manufacturers need to get real. They need to go back to making affordable vehicles. People that are buying vehicles at these prices are leveraging their potential lifetime wealth accumulation. It's absolutely foolish.
I like the customer know upfront what it’s going to cost and I get paid in advance… Some of the times I will get paid for a drop in the trailer and then get paid for the dump fee afterwards however that’s only with customers that I have an established relationship with
your too cheep! increase your prices. The truck and trailer and insurance value? were and tear? Transmission? think about it. Thanks for doing these ...
Thank you Robert. I’m getting into this immediately.
Let me know how I can help

Ever think about charging the IRS mileage rate for the miles you drive? Plus the $50 for your time
That is a good thing… I have not considered that
You sir are a capitalist…and I LOVE IT!
Yes indeed so very true! Thank you so much for watching Tom
I want to get a dump trailer for a side deal. Butt i don't really need money or have anytime...... so I'll just watch the tube.....
Make it happen !!

You will have to hustle twice as hard ! 😉
No pay No Stay Network 😂 worth the time and investment or better to wait until I upgrade to a bigger truck?
Keep grinding

Soladaddy Yes sir so very true
I’m over in fort Walton Beach I’m thinking about doing this as a side gig
You should do well with it
Awsome. That helps a lot. Thanks Robert. Also what forms of payment do you take?
I have square so I can send them an invoice by email if they can pay it with debit card and then I also take cash

Forgot to ask a question about flat tires. I imagine that hauling trailers around construction and/or roofing job sites you can easily pick up a nail or lose a tire or two. How do you account for these expenses?
They definitely happen
You can generally plug a tire yourself. Nails make neat small holes generally.
Trailer tires don’t last as long as normal tires either. 10k-20k miles depending on load is about it.
Get an extra tire and on your free time switch them and take them to a local tire shop. Tell them to plug them from the inside out. I hate that that happened I learned the hard way always ask how many layers of shingles are on the roof and I always look myself when I drop a trailer
What are your thoughts on a used dump trailer thanks
That’s how my business got started I just check it and look it over real well
How do you deal with people who don’t pay after you’ve picked up and dumped ? Is there any type of contract involved? Never been in business for myself so I’d like to think most people would pay what you verbally agree upon.
I send them an invoice and they pay it with a debit card and that’s what locks in the reservation so I get my money upfront
@@hustlenation4779 I was about to ask this and you answered perfectly. Smart! What do you use to send invoice?
Thx!
@@ryanscott9093 I use Square
Your insurance is hopefully knowing where they live.
I wouldn’t leave if I hadn’t collected money
Robert do you receive payment when you pick up trailer or after you dump so you know how much to charge ?
Unless I know the customer real well I get paid in advance

Oh yes I totally agree with you on that for sure I mean you can buy a truck now that's $120,000 off the showroom floor that's absolutely insane
Where can I find work for my dump trailer?
How many people did you tell what you do?
So essentially it’s your time + dump fees and gas.
Yes sir exactly the trailer just allows me to get more money per hour because a person‘s perception of value is greater because I have The trailer
If the load is overweight how do you go back and charge if you already received payment for initial service?
You better get real good at estimating
Not just time. You have wear and tear, amortization of trailer cost, fuel, tires, etc. You are way undercharging.
So true
Great video, was this a 14ft dump trailer
Thank you for watching John yes this is a 14 foot trailer
What about agreements? Do you have a sample contract agreement? Thanks in advance.
I like the customer know upfront what it’s going to cost and I get paid in advance… Some of the times I will get paid for a drop in the trailer and then get paid for the dump fee afterwards however that’s only with customers that I have an established relationship with
$25 for fuel. Definitely before biden.
You were right about that
Would you rent out a trailer for your client to haul with their vehicle?
Only if I knew them personally… I’ve had a few people try to do that and they don’t have the right truck for the load they wanna carry
3 1/2 times $50 is not $150🤷♂️
you win
