Cheltenham township has a free dump for resident but you can sign up as a landscaper. For $120 a year you can dump as many times you want there. My cousins live there so I bring them with me to dump there for free lol

This is great advice !! I live in a very rural area... we used to dump for ten bucks a month(one fifth of bootlegger whiskey to the dump manager) KD cut with water! Had a sticker and a key...cat lock on gate worked equipment as well... I know this is the exception ,but it will help to get him trending...
Here in SC, our dumps are free!! I charge $100/load for a 6x10x2 trl!! By the time you go get it, go to dump, then go home, plus your time, it's only like $75. If it's "my trimmings" that I created doing the job, I just tie it in to the cost

We get charged $20-30 for a mid sized dump packed. Free for chips, free for wood to wood sharks. I charge $150 first yard then $50-$75 a yard. We dump 2-5 trucks a day.

I’m in my first year back in business for myself after working for five years for an award-winning design company. I would love to pick your brain one day. You seem like The kind of guy I can sit down and drink a cuppa coffee with and look up and see that three or four hours have gone by. I thought about making my own UA-cam videos, but I just don’t wanna deal with all the people telling me how they done it different charge different and you know criticizing every little thing, which is what I see in the comments sections of a lot of videos. I bought a chipper last year, since then I have eliminated all my dump fees since I turn it into wood chips. Of course for the occasion where I do ornamental grasses ect. Might be time to invest in a 4-6” chipper
In my experience those 6" chippers are not worth it. They just don't have the power. You will be stuck feeding branches in like a pencil sharpener. Takes way to many man hours. I would always go with a 12' you will make up the difference in price with the man hours. Throw it in and walk away, you don't have to baby sit.
I only offer brush disposal, mulch delivery & install , landscape supplies in my business. I've added a wood chipper to my rig. On a 6x10 dump trailer, I charge $150 to just show up plus dump fees, deliver and labour if I'm loading the trailer instead of the customer. If multiple run are needed the same day consecutively then I charge $100 per trip which covers my time/wear and tear,fuel, insurance then cost of dump fees. Time is MoNeY!
These dump prices are the reason why there are many people dumping crap on the side of the road..
You have to charge a lot for dumping when you factor the truck, trailer, labor if workers are along for the ride, and dump fees. You can lose out very easily.
We at Ludy's landscaping inc we have a flat rate of $189 for dumping cost added to our customers invoice they always agree because they know that landfill are constantly changing their prices
My dump here it’s free in Canada , they make wood chips and compost with it and then they sell it .

I bill $200/ load. 7x12x4 dump trailer. The 2 dump locations I go to are reasonable on their prices. One is $27/ ton (rarely do I weigh more than a ton). The other dump is much closer to my customer base and home but is a flat $30 to dump so I'm the long run the more expensive place is the cheapest.

My local dump here in chicago is $70/load for my 5x10 dump trailer. The other dump is $30/yard, so about $180 for a full trailer there. Big difference. If it’s just brush I typically charge $250-300 to haul away. Not including the time it takes us to load everything. If it’s a full trailer of dirt/sod/stone/brick etc (heavy stuff) I charge $350-400. The trailer holds about 3 yards of heavy material or 7 of lightweight material
You are absolutely correct when asked, " what is an actual yard". Some of those companies inflate the prices off a visual. When they no that stuff compressed and chopped is much less.
Hey Keith, Great video. we charge $20 per cubic yard of debris. As a lawn company, we deal with grass clippings and leaves. We also have a local compost place that doesn't currently charge for lawn debris except for limbs and they only charge us $5 for a standard truckload. Keep up the great content. Philip in Montana

Knowing they grind it up then sell the mulch. We use privately owned LCID landfills and they price by size of trailer or truck. So I stack it as high as I can and strap it down. I try to factor how many trips I’ll have to haul off and double my cost. So if they charge me $45 I charge the customer $90.
Where I’m at the dump doesn’t change it’s 10 bucks per yard I normally charge 30- 40 bucks per yard into the quote so I make a little bit to pay for labor throughout the job plus dumping when the job is complete there’s always more work even when the jobs done gotta think at the end about clean up & getting the debris gone.
$75 per ton at my local landfill. Light loads are just $20. Even then it's worth charging $200 minimum just for the time and effort to drive to the dump. Sometimes the line can be long and it kills a third of your day.

In my small town in TX its $17 per ton. What i do is i have one trailer for small yard waste jobs and I charge $50.
I let the trailer pile up as much as I can.
Then I haul away a $400 worth of yard waste for $30 to dump.
My Other trailers I fill up , charge $90 to dump . Cost to dump on average fill to the max, $40 depending on weight

Buy a good shredder, buy some property, get some 46-0-0 and start making your own compost. Offer cheaper dumping fees , hire a guy to run it and start making money. No body in my area pays anything to have yard waste removed. That's just crazy.

You must be on the northside of Indianapolis Savier Cabballero. I’m on the Southside which has 2 places. MCcarty Mulch and Greencycle both take brush and mixed yard waste. Dirt,grass,weeds etc all for 20 dollars a load.

No matter the fluctuating dump fees no matter the area you live if you do a 20 % mark up on the entire job cost it covers these fees. Works for me for years.
I usually only charge about $20-$30 per load of debris. This season with fuel and maintenance costs going up it'll be a little more expensive. I have a good buddy that has 11 acres, I dump whatever I want whenever I want for the low cost of a fifth of Canadian Club whisky a season haha. I keep it all neat and he burns some stuff and recycles some other stuff. He's an awesome guy and he's also going to let me get bulk mulch delivered there as well. I appreciate everything he does for me so I'm respectable and responsible about where and what I dump there.

Here in metro phoenix area the dumps charge 38-45 dollars per ton. Most of them have inbound and outbound scales. But you can get a empty weight ticket so you dont have to reweigh. I salvage and give away anything deemable as firewood or milling logs so that saves a lot of dump fees since its by weight. When i have a lot of heavy palm logs or cacti i go to this other dump that doesnt have a scale and they charge about 30 dollars per load. Its a bit further drive but if i have several tons if cacti or palm its well worth the drive.

I’ve just started in the waste/ bush removal, I give them an estimate to my labour, machine cost , a trailer charge and a truck charge for my mileage from there location to the dump. Then charge them the dump fees afterwords. The seem to be more than happy to only pay for what they need instead of estimating a dump fee

I'm in Paso robles, ca we have a flat fee of $30 for loads up to 1000lbs, over that is $60. In my town i have noticed that my competition started under cutting, Lots of people are doing junk removal, without a license.

Crazy! My dump is $18 per TON (no rocks, sod, dirt, plastic, or 12in+ diameter wood). If you have that shit in there it's $36 per ton.

I charge a lot, why? I explain in my contracts that costs are usually double to triple the dumping fee. If the client doesn't want to pay there's no surprises. Yardage may vary due to materials, weight, if I have to handle, grind, chop contain, bundle and bag, burrito tarp etc. My vehicles don't on run free, gas, milage, tires, tarps, load/unload, traffic management to and from the job site, trailer clean out and safety cones are included in my fees.
I pay $7 per ton to dump brush, branches, weeds and grass clippings. However leafs are free but I charge $40 per trip.

I have a 30 yd dumpster at my shop. We use a bobcat to load each day. I generally charge each customer $85- 400 for waste disposal. A 30 yd dumpster holds plenty of debris. If you are having to go and drop debris off all the time you are seriously losing money. I know many cant have a shop but you could consider renting a lot fencing it in and have a dumpster there. Efficiency in the landscape business is a must to make money. My dumpster fee to empty cost me $400 but i collect about $2000 plus in fees from customers.
In my town for a dump trailer that size is $30 per load. The good thing is with the dumpsite also is if your a contractor you can pay $350 a month to go as much as you want.
Every 10 small garbage cans amount to 1 yard of mulch like a galvanize small can or a 28 gallon garbage can 👀💪

Yard waste in pierce country WA is free to dump 1-1999lbs. 2000lbs and up is $120 per ton. How I do it is if I see I am over 2000lbs I just unload half of it then exit the facility and then go back 5 minutes later . I mainly just do lawn maintenance so I don't charge anyone a dump fee unless I do a clean up job then I might throw a fee in there for my time.
Another huge profit maker is fiding dumps that also have materials you need for upcoming or current jobs..so dual purpose runs always.. dump and material allocation saves so much time plus your getting double paid.. I schedule jobs around those factors... u can put ads for free fill delivered.. amazing way to get rid of all and any dirt free and tons of close locations...I usually have 20 to 30 spots to dump free fill from 1 craigslist 5.00 ad.. Then i upsell installing and grading same fill with bobcat.. u can also sell the fill

I'm in South Texas at the dump sites down here they go lynx times width times height. My trailer is at 11 yards they charge $19 per yard so yesterday my dump fees was $320 and that was just for two dumps it's really hard to make any money because a customer can order a giant dumpster for $500
I got the same problem. Every time I go, they charge a different amount. No consistency! They often try to send me across town to another dump. Suddenly (about a year ago) the city stopped providing service and hired an outside contractor. The got rid of the claw truck. Now they send 3 guys with a rear load truck. They now tag almost every pile that they used to pick up. It will sit there for weeks. They wanted to charge me $90 to remove 3 yards (I measured the pile), they said it was 6 cubic yards. crazy!

$25/yd or $80/ton for commercial disposal sites here in CT. If you have a chipper, you can use chipdrop (usually free) and the best part is, there is an endless supply of chipdrop recipients all over the country (world?) wanting your wood chips so chances of finding one close by are very good. I usually add a flat fee of $100/load for a local, to the job, chipdrop. If I must use a commercial dumpsite, I double the fee and add a flat $100 haul charge.
At my place they charge $10 a yard for leaves, grass clippings. For brush they charge $15 a yard. So I can hold 4 yards in my trailer but I usually only put 2 yards and I charge $65 a load.
I pay 1,000.00 a year to dump any compostable material and brush at my local dump and typically charge 75-100 per load in a 3500 dump truck. I usually double the price if it’s out of town because you’re at the mercy of that city’s local dump and they’re usually expensive.
On large jobs we have the grapple truck come out. 60 yards for $400. On small jobs it $150 to fill up the landscape dump truck. Good thing is where we live you can put roadside and the county will pick up every week.

Having a chipper really makes a huge difference, you can fit so much in the back of a truck it's crazy. It really pays for its self. I have one for sale lol 😆 but seriously if you are paying that per month you can make the payments easy.
You , need to buy a machine to mulch small limbs and organic material and find a small land owner to allow you to spread the mulch over his property which will just turn into dirt over time !
Dont come here to Maryland, they charge to start @ 80.00 per ton no matter what you have. Tires are 190.00 per ton and so on . Wood waste including chips mulch and logs 80.00 per ton . Your customers are lucky that the fees aren't that bad. Good luck!👍
We get charged per ton, I work on 1 guy can cut and hand load 750kg a day. From this I have worked out a percentage I use, i ad this percentage to the total job cost when quoting to cover the dump fees, so far its working fine and we make a profit on our dump fees.
Our local dump is no longer taking commercial waste so business owners now have to drive one hour out of town. That's like $120 for just the gas in the work truck not the including fee per poundage :(

Our dump site cost $500/year upfront. That covers grass, mulch and leaf dumping. Then you pay $10-$100 (size dependent) per load of brush, trees, etc... we are not allowed to dump trash or rock of any kind. That stuff goes to a secret place 🤫

Keith , get a chipper to.fit your needs. If your going to more tree service then get a 12 inch chipper, and a chip truck. If just small brush 6 inch chipper vermeer bc700xl. Chip into trailer, and dump for free www.chipdrop.in maybe even get paid for the chips.

Sydney, Australia we are paying between $250-$360/t for green waste (oversize eg stumps and logs over 300mmdiameter add $100/t) and the minimum charge is $35. Of that amount the state government tax is included which is approx $140/t. It's crazy here.
Take it dry it out chip into mulch recharge to pay as red,black or natural mulch. Dump fee cost plus double . Simple. Take logs to wood process,firewood. We need to be making money not giving our dumps the profit
Dude, large waste processing facilities have economy of scale you cannot process the green waste and make money unless your business is doing multi millions in business. Better of sticking to what you are good at and let others make the mulch.

There are no dump fees here for organics. We never take trees to the dump, just stack them up all summer and burn em in the winter. But you are right, everybody has their hand out for your money.

My dump its 35 for truck. 40 trailer. 30 free yards per year for "residents" get the money worth there at the city dump. I usually charge 70 for removal. Might be able to get one more. If its excessive then I may charge up to 120 per load. I've fit 5 yards in my 6ft bed tarped and strapped stacked high and compressed.
very similar here in Dallas tx, like you said depend where are you working and how close the dump is, i have a dump that never ever want to dump because they charge $110 for chipper dump truck , it have to be cheaper because if already mulching right, i go just in emergency, most of the time i take extra 30 min to drive to a cheaper city dump for $29 and full tank for around $45 and still save money !!
In ct a 7x14 dump trailer full is 90 bucks but we usually dump our stuff at our yard let it rot a little and then grab it with the excavator and just make what would be 3 loads fit in one and can still charge 90 for each person so we make 180 which pays for fuel driving and the time it takes to dump and reload it into the trailer
I'm in Oregon and my local landfills charge $3 per yard of plant debris and its been that price the last 3+ years or so. Finding the right price to charge customers has been the tough part. When I very first started I was scared to charge so I'd tell them $5 to haul off a truckload, then I started to charge $60 for the 1st yard then $40 for every additional yard which turned out to be too expensive for my area. Now I charge roughly $20-30 per yard (giving discounts the more they have to be hauled) so a truck-full 3 yards will be about $60. Takes maybe 45 minutes to dump a full load travel and all.
I'm solo so my overhead is pretty minimal, and I'm also rural so I can be in the forest within 10 miles and dump for free if I really want to (and often do). Most clients find my haul off prices reasonable, and anyone who questions it I explain it takes into consideration gas, travel time, landfill fees and labor involved with loading and unloading the debris, which always seems to convince them the price is fair.

I estimate for the time to load and dump and tell the customer that the dump fee is extra, whatever it may be. Both dumps near me goes by weight. If I have small amounts of trimming or the fall leaves I have a spot on my property to dump then and I just tack on a few extra bucks for dumping. $5, 10 or 20 more.
Here in AZ they have weight scales is $30 up to $40 per ton so it depends on how much weight you put on the trailer

Any cleanup shrubs limbs trees leaves etc is an extra 120 to 150 to me I dont ever have to dump where I am I have a pit to dump all debris and burn it then use to spread on my backyard or other yards that want compost spread had about 9 people turn me down bc of added fees but had alot of jobs landed bc I am upfront about fees and dumping and tell them to ask what the charge is for a company to dump at land fills
In northern CA. I pay $25-$500 at the dump. They charge per pound. I charge customers normally $100 per run unless we have a semi truck. Cost of semi + labor + dumb fees
For us it was beneficial to set up an account with one dump. Instead of a $100 trailer fee it is $75. I know it’s not always practical to use just one but for the majority of the time it works for us. Charging wise, for example, if we are charged $75 for dumping fees then I charge the customer $175. I have to pay for the labor to travel to the dump and unload (yes even with a dump trailer). Then they grind it up and sell it back to us for mulch or compost. I wish I would have thought of it!
Man in Oklahoma luckily I have a huge yard in the country I can pile as big as I want and burn it. So that's 1000's and 1000's of savings a year even with a hour commute from the city and back. It's worth having property away from city limits

Our dump doesn’t charge for tree branches... they mulch it and give away the mulch... but anything other than branches they charge $35 per ton- so I charge my customers $45 per ton... also have to account for how many tires you will ruin driving into a landfill with all the junk on the roads in and out of there
I charge 50/ yard . It costs me 23 / yard
If I under estimate I eat the cost. If the customer wants additional services that require dumping then we adjust as necessary

About $50-60 per yard i charge for my labor, gas, etc. For the brush and branches. Grass clippings and weeds is $10 per can for the 1st 5 cans. $5 per can for each after. I have to compost that stuff. Sometimes when they have very little i wont charge at all. If it is a few small branches or such. And some clients i cam rake it all to the curb and the county takes it or they can still burn in their own burn pits.

Unidig in Clinton Township is $30-$35 for a truck load with a 8 foot bed with 2 foot side boards. We add an additional hour of our man hour rate with two workers at $50 per man hour for single projects that need debris to be disposed when the job is finished. So $100 for a full truck load to cover drive time and dumping cost. Otherwise, for minor projects we wait until we fill our truck(s) to get the best bang for the buck.

It’s free for yard waste in my area. I’m fortunate enough to have a trailer specifically for usable material and one that holds 20yds of waste. Having a small chipper helps, I can usually fit about 10 regular jobs in at a $50 tip fee per job. The easiest $500-$1000 I make all week.
