I make knives by stock removal with 01 & farrier rasps.
One day at a knife supply business I was told by another knife maker who forges his blades that anyone who didn't forge didn't know how to make a knife. I've never had any complaints about my knives.

I know this is an over-simplification. But basically you just trim some plate steel to the shape of an axe. You didn't actually Forge any metal

@@forginghard hey man, don't even worry about it. I don't think anybody really cares that "the channel name doesn't fit", most of us just enjoy the content
@@forginghard Also, if the saw blade has carbide teeth, chances are it's just mild steel. Next time cut off a sliver, harden it, don't temper it, then smack it with a hammer. If it breaks / fractures, you know it can be hardened.

I believe it’s to show that the steel is hardened. Hardened steel and tungsten carbide scratch glass easily.

The only reason to scratch a glass bottle is to test the hardness of the knife after tempering. A typical glass bottle has a hardness of about HRC 52.

love the look of the "axe" but it isnt an axe or hatchet if the handle scales are above the cutting edge. it looks good but you cant really split anything with it without knocking the handle scales off.

У топоров, топорище должно быть монолитом с рукояткой. Это я для себя понял очень давно и всегда так делаю. Иначе выходит красивая херня, которая пару раз попав под дождь или набрав сырости полежало зимой и топорище потом летит тебе прямиком в ногу. А так, выходит на века.
