I started to do daily puja to Skanda, and it seems that my relationship with him has really blossomed. I just intuitively knew that Skanda was my deity. Im impressed by your knowledge of this concept. My dad being an astrologer ive seen him describe or try to describe kula devas of ppl who come to him and usually getting it right. A place to start would be the upasana deva of the father/mother, however a person may have a different ishta deva. Next comes kula deva, then comes any temple nearest were the person used to regularly visit in childhood or even now, or any temple were the person/parents/grand parents worked at in any capacity, be it priest or be it staff. We have seen all these temples come up as important for that person as indicated by horoscope. Basically charity begins at home. Start from home and work outward.. Good video.
Right from my early childhood I have been drawn towards Lord Ayyappan of Sabarimala, the Dharmasastha. Whenever I think of Lord Ayyappa my eyes wells in tears, throat gets choked, I feel drawn towards him without any desire. The first time I went to a Siddha Yoga Meditation we chanted the Maha Mantra and had a vision of a short dark being with epaulets with an inverted triangle on his chest with an upward spiral inside in meditation. I had no idea who it was. Twenty years later I saw a painting with Vamana and recognized the Deity as who I had seen in my meditation. I still have no idea how to worship Vamana and I have never been able to find another image that had that same apearance.
Thanks you for sharing your experience. Indeed u r blessed to have the divine darshan (vision). Appreciate sharing your experience. Hope you find your way back to Lord Vamana (Lord Vishnu’s avatar)
Are you still interested to worship vamana avatara? He is avatar of Vishnu. I suggest you start simple with reading Vishnu sahasranama daily with the image of vamana in your mind. You can offer Water, Tulsi (Basil) and food to him in your mind or in actual. Depending on what is possible. All Vishnu avatar are more of bhakti.
If you still want some rituals, may I suggest you to visit any madhwaacharya mutt in Karnataka and meet the seer there who may tell you vedic way. Or you can visit vrindavan or mathura. I'm sure Krishna's followers also have way to worship vamana avatara in bhakti path

The best way to know your Ishta Devata is to directly perceive Him or Her via ritambhara prajna (clairvoyance, Cf. Patanjali's Yoga Sutras). The accuracy will depend on the degree of your development of ritambhara prajna. Selection by a guru is accurate only to the extent that the guru has ritambhara prajna. A very common way to know one's Ishtadevata is your feeling, which Devata feels most familiar to you, whom you like the most, feel most drawn to (not intellectual, but emotional). Prayer or sincere request is a good point made in the video, including starting with Ganapati (Ganesh) and also Devi, or any Devata (one of the 5 Devatas (Panchadevata, the other 2 being Surya and Vishnu). Re: astrologers. a) astrologers vary quite widely in their abilities, and b) there are more than one astrological method of determining Ishtadevata. I didn’t know about Kali or the other deities for the longest time, still feel like I’m learning about them. However, I took an online test to see which deity I connect with and it was Kali. The more I read about her, the more I was like wait a minute. When I type fan fictions my character sounds a lot like this. I think she also gave me Vishnu’s name and I sometimes get an odd feeling that Kali disagrees with Shiva when it comes to me. So I’m not 100% sure if it’s just Kali or Kali and Vishnu or not.
What if you are naturally drawn to a particular God? You have no hint, no clarity but you just feel a divine connection and unexplainable desire to worship that deity. My heart would break if i learn that he is not my ishta 😞 Also : accept my naman on your lotus feet. 🙏
The Sanskrit word "ishta" means desired, cherished, beloved. If you are naturally drawn to a particular deity, feel a connection, and enjoy a causeless desire to worship that deity, and if your heart would break if you were to discover that that deity is not your ishta - then that deity is most certainly your ishta Emoji
Robert ji thank you so much lovely hearing your voice ! Accept my Naman 🙏🏻! May I ask you is it okay to say aloud who our isht devata is ? If yes May I ask who is yours? If we are not allowed to say it I respect that wish you well & I will be listening to more of you so I can learn more about spirituality and try my best to get closer to God
Yes there is a story, Supposedly there used to be Four Vinayakas they used to cause troubles then one day SHIVA decided to fix that and Merge these Four Vinayakas into One Who Is Now Known As Ganesh. Although this story is believed by only a few people
QUESTION: Robert, if you find a God or a Goddess whose shlokas inspire you awe, serenity and a sort of blooming love(not yet the highest form of Bhakti or Divine Mad love as Si Ramakrishna describes) but starts developing a gradual feeling of love inside you towards He or She and also grants you miracles, is that your Ishta Devata? Even though the only moment you connect with each other is through the Shloka??
Well, those shlokas must actually be mantras. Mantras are in reality the embodiment of the devi devatas themselves. So when you chant the mantras, you are actually connecting with the Devi/Devatas.
@lattor, kindly requesting you to rethink about this reply, Please analyse what is meant by devatha and does this spirit come under the definition of devatha? To definite it as good or bad, simple question. What is the output? Euros were praying to holy pagan religion, after getting conberted into kistianity for 1000 years they became ultimate z0mbies, only output is hatred within and outside, inabded austrlia, africa, america, canada, everywhere and started chenocide program, So, please rethink after you are going to continuously worship this spirit.
@@bharathvansh5127 Thank you for your reply. I tried to worship Shiva many times, trying to follow Hinduism, doing Yoga but nothing changed. I had even strange horror dreams of hellish cannibal reincarnation cycle. I returned to Christianity but not catholic christianity - I don't think this is true Christianity - this I would call zombie religion. My output of Holy Spirit in the church was peace and love. I was heartbroken, feeled strong anxieties but I felt the Holy Spirit even though I was practising Hinduism for over probably one year and even though I was full of hatred towards Christians (because I was born catholic)! Wow, it was so strong. All pain was gone for a while. I felt love and peace in my mind and body and I was reconciliated with my current painful experience. I can say, yes, many christians are full of hatred but I don't consider them christians. Those people are not filled with the Holy Spirit at all but they can be influenced by nature or demonic influences. Christians believe in a devil and devil wants also all christians to go to hell where he hates them and even he hates himself so I'm not surprised many Christians are full of hatred towards other religions and atheists. Interesting fact is also many so called christians and catholics haven't read the whole New Testament and Old Testament. I am currently reading Bible for the first time. People filled with the Holy Spirit are full of love and spread love. It's interesting to find on UA-cam testimonies of ex-satanists come to Jesus Christ. If there is present hatred, the person is not filled with the Holy Spirit and is not born again as we can read in the Bible in the New Tastament where Jesus speaks. This behavior filled with hatred is not christian at all! In The New Testament in the Bible we can read HATRED IS BAD - when somebody punches you into your face, show him even the next side of your face!
@@lattor-archivniyour Ishta would be christ if you are following Christianity. Ishta devta are great beings who have graced this earth with their presence.

Nope not necessarily, cause they give you a recommendation based on the troubles in your birth chart, like what planet is affecting you and based on that. When its a personal connection with ishtdev, its your personal choice. When you feel that connection, notice signs in your life that are connected to the deity you will realise
I am always pull towards goddess but still its hard to figure out which form is my Ista, I have been attactred to buddhist avalokiteshvara which is considered as goddess of compassion but I also attracted to the furious form of tantrik goddess too, I am so confused, I just find them they are beautiful of thier own way and feeling sense of mother in in compassion and also the furious form. Can someone guess who is my Ishta?
But how do we get a guru? I am a bit scared that it may whipe out my inner discernment or connection with my own soul. I follow Sadhguru but of course he isn't my personal guru or friend
Its tough finding the right guru, if you can’t find a guru. I suggest make your kuldev/lord Ganesha as your guru and seek guidance from him, he will show you and guide you. Don’t rush finding a guru, when the time comes god will find you a guru
That is not a stupid question. That can be a very good place to start from. How you approach the deity has a lot to do with how they respond to you. Seeing the deity and yourself everywhere, all the time, and in everyone, is significant.
I am born into a Christian family. And hence I feel my ' kul devatha' is Jesus. Have you met anyone doing Jesus 'upasana'? Please do not misunderstand me. No intention to mock you. Am genuinely interested in Christian chanting, and meditation.
Hello dear sister, Please be dont offended by my answer and if offended i am sorry Jesus is a messenger, more of a type guru, he came to India and learned tantra, in tantra philosophy the miracles are very common and it is believed to be of very low quality of a person who would waste energy on miracles like jesus did, turning water to vine or any alcohol is most common miracle here, Now coming to your question, jesus is more like a guru, you can worship him but there are much higher powers and easily answerable powers, try lord Ganesha as Dr Robert says in this video, he answers, or try Mother Gauri she will reply you, search youtube for Rajarshi Nandy and his channel, he guides you very simple methods and blesses you Thank you
@@reneemma4208 This entirely depends on what you want. If you connect with Jesus more, it doesn't make any sense to follow Hinduism as Hinduism doesn't have any Jesus sampradayas or Upasana techniques. Far better for you to remain a Christian, maybe go join an Eastern Orthodox church as they preserve the best Upasana methods for those focused on Jesus.

Thanks a lot sir. My emoji : 🔱
thanku :).
very nice..
My Ishta Devta is LORD of LORDS, LORD SHIVA
Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
#JaiSanatanaDharma ❤
Robert ji thank you so much lovely hearing your voice ! Accept my Naman 🙏🏻! May I ask you is it okay to say aloud who our isht devata is ? If yes May I ask who is yours? If we are not allowed to say it I respect that wish you well & I will be listening to more of you so I can learn more about spirituality and try my best to get closer to God
Shiva Shiva!
Dr Robertji Hari om... You always say ganesh was vighna karta before he became vighna harta.. Is there a story?
Yes there is a story, Supposedly there used to be Four Vinayakas they used to cause troubles then one day SHIVA decided to fix that and Merge these Four Vinayakas into One Who Is Now Known As Ganesh. Although this story is believed by only a few people
Thank you sir!
Thanks for this!
My Kula Deva and Ishta Devata is Mother Durga
QUESTION: Robert, if you find a God or a Goddess whose shlokas inspire you awe, serenity and a sort of blooming love(not yet the highest form of Bhakti or Divine Mad love as Si Ramakrishna describes) but starts developing a gradual feeling of love inside you towards He or She and also grants you miracles, is that your Ishta Devata? Even though the only moment you connect with each other is through the Shloka??
Yes. The mind, the eyes, the ears: any of our 5 senses can enable us to reach out and find the connect.
Well, those shlokas must actually be mantras. Mantras are in reality the embodiment of the devi devatas themselves. So when you chant the mantras, you are actually connecting with the Devi/Devatas.
Thank you sir. Namaskarams
Thank you Sir......
My Ishta Devata is Holy Spirit from Christianity. I can strongly feel him inside when visiting church. I come from the Czech Republic, Europe.
@lattor,
kindly requesting you to rethink about this reply, Please analyse what is meant by devatha and does this spirit come under the definition of devatha?
To definite it as good or bad, simple question. What is the output? Euros were praying to holy pagan religion, after getting conberted into kistianity for 1000 years they became ultimate z0mbies, only output is hatred within and outside, inabded austrlia, africa, america, canada, everywhere and started chenocide program,
So, please rethink after you are going to continuously worship this spirit.

My Ishta devata is Lord Vishnu
Please explain Gotra system
Om oh gurudev please grant me my trueself Om
Please guide me be my mentor
Can your ishta devata change or can you have multiple? I don’t really see a reason in being limited to having one sorry if this sounds ignorant.
I mean ultimately your Ishta devatha is really the form of Brahman.
You can have one Ishta devatha, but you can also worship or have other deities.
@@Lol-ud8cssimilar to myself… my ishta is Lalitha Devi, but I also pray to Ganesha, Shiva, and Murugan along with her
Once in my dreams I started calling.Yog yogeshwar ...and I woke up from my dream...I searched...but could not confirmed figure out whether it isLord vishnu or Lord Shiv.....
Hi Sir, Like Ganapati, how will batuk bhairava god worship?
Dr . Sir , I wish to meet you, How to meet you? Where do you live in India? I have read books written by you.
Knowledge information what each icon stands for which human value or need might help.Knowing that icon fully helps.Conflicting icon as istta devta bhakti might hurt?
How do you know All this???
Is ishta devta and kula devta different
Yes. The Kyla daivat and kuldaivata are respectively masculine and feminine daivatas which agave been worshiped by your past generations after generations.
Isht means good. The one deity which is going to help you in spiritual journey is closest i can explain
Alto saxophonist Paul Desmond....my ista devta
A Guru told me Maa Dhumavati is the only deity that can help me!
What should I do if astrologer told me about my ishta ..but I don't feel connection with this God?According to the words of astrologer ..my ishta devata is Vishnu(I have saturn as ishta ).However ,I don't really feel that he is my ishta devata.
🙏
Hi Sir may I ask if Linkam can be my ishta devata?
So shiva ..
Dear Dr.Robert, I checked an astrological chart creator online, which informed me of my ishta. Is such software accurate? Thank you.
Is it possible to connect with you sir?
This is great 😂 love your delivery
But how do we get a guru? I am a bit scared that it may whipe out my inner discernment or connection with my own soul.
I follow Sadhguru but of course he isn't my personal guru or friend
Its tough finding the right guru, if you can’t find a guru. I suggest make your kuldev/lord Ganesha as your guru and seek guidance from him, he will show you and guide you. Don’t rush finding a guru, when the time comes god will find you a guru
I really hope this question doesn't sound stupid...but when we pray to or worship a Ishta Devata, are we not just praying to the true self?
That is not a stupid question. That can be a very good place to start from. How you approach the deity has a lot to do with how they respond to you. Seeing the deity and yourself everywhere, all the time, and in everyone, is significant.
@@bigwave7207 Thank you for the reply.
My ista devatha is shiradi saibabs
I am born into a Christian family. And hence I feel my ' kul devatha' is Jesus. Have you met anyone doing Jesus 'upasana'? Please do not misunderstand me. No intention to mock you.
Am genuinely interested in Christian chanting, and meditation.
Hello dear sister,
Please be dont offended by my answer and if offended i am sorry
Jesus is a messenger, more of a type guru, he came to India and learned tantra, in tantra philosophy the miracles are very common and it is believed to be of very low quality of a person who would waste energy on miracles like jesus did, turning water to vine or any alcohol is most common miracle here,
Now coming to your question, jesus is more like a guru, you can worship him but there are much higher powers and easily answerable powers, try lord Ganesha as Dr Robert says in this video, he answers, or try Mother Gauri she will reply you, search youtube for Rajarshi Nandy and his channel, he guides you very simple methods and blesses you
Thank you
@@skarthikvasishtaDebatable Personally I Think Jesus was more into other type of method Instead of Tantra
May be and may be not,
@@azathoth4473 , I too feel like it. Jesus, his teachings and way of attaining atunement is different from Tantra. Perhaps his path been lost.
@@reneemma4208 This entirely depends on what you want. If you connect with Jesus more, it doesn't make any sense to follow Hinduism as Hinduism doesn't have any Jesus sampradayas or Upasana techniques.
Far better for you to remain a Christian, maybe go join an Eastern Orthodox church as they preserve the best Upasana methods for those focused on Jesus.
i wonder what will be my Kula devta if i come from Differennt Dharmic religion...

Nice 🙏🙏🙏
How would god give me hint who my ista devata is? Will that be in dream or meditation? Plz elaborate that part too
