Coach Julia I’m an adult beginner skater and if I can ever do any of the things you can do, I’ll be one happy lady. Phenomenal to watch! Thankyou for sharing your gift with the world 😍😉👌💖🇦🇺
Tony Jones I do it apart of my MS therapy as I’m heat sensitive. It’s the best exercise that allows me to get a workout. Not many ice skate in Western Australia. We have no natural ice or snow ⛄️
Man, I really need to keep working on my three turns. I’ll get to this point one day, just need to keep practicing 😁. Thanks for your videos though, they’re always so helpful.
Julia thank you for your videos, very usefull , i watch it with my daughter, i try to translate what you say for her (we are in Paris, France). She’s 10 years old and begins ice skating this year. Your videos will help her in her progression.
Thank you for this amazing and helpful tutorial! In my city we have no ice in summer, so I tried it on roller skates and was really surprised how well it worked on my first try. Still need to improve my posture etc., but this jump really is fun 😊
My coach introduced this as my first jump earlier this week. Your in depth descriptions and reasonings for each component really helps with the whys behind everything.
These are the best learning videos here. I can't wait to get back out on the ice this week to practice this latest Half-Flip jump. Thank you Julia! And, my granddaughter is learning well from you also. She was able to do her first Waltz jump yesterday! Woohoo!!!
Excellent series of videos. I am just learning these half rotation jumps and this is very helpful. Showing the jump and landing on the toe picks in slow motion really helps. I tend to land flat rather than on the toe pick. I am a ski instructor so my balance gliding probably lets me get away with bad habits.
@@CoachJulia Having skaters in lessons, especially skaters that can do full rotation jumps and 1 foot spins, is what inspired me to take up skating. After 3 days skaters can be skiing groomed black runs. I actually started skating to rehab my knee after a torn MCL in 2013.
Oh I am excited to see this. I can't get the waltz jump right because I really struggle with getting up on my toepick while skating forwards, so maybe this will be easier for me
Huh, i abandoned my split jump probably a year ago, watched a couple of videos on youtube with tips how to work into it, nothing, split jump just not happening, i watch this, practice session one, two, and the stag jump is in the bag. thanks !
Do you have a video that shows a bunch of jumps side by side and what they are called? I know the first few jumps i am interested in learning but have no idea what they are called. Maybe a series of videos that goes over skating jargon and discuss some of those things.
I have been waiting for a half flip tutorial like forever - so happy you finally did one! Question: does the free leg (the left) have to be pulled together to almost the same level as the right foot before jumping? I think I was doing it wrong on ice by just tapping my right toe pick into the ice, (without drawing my left leg together with my right one), turn my body the half rotation, land with my left toe pick and then glide?
Glad I could bring you a tutorial that you were looking for! So the half flip can be executed without drawing the feet together before jumping, but it is better technique to pull the. together, and ultimately, you will have a stronger jump.
I'm really struggling keeping my toe pick in the ice and pulling the other leg back into the scissor postion you mentioned. I either cant keep my balance or I can't bring the leg in or the pick just WONT stay in the ice. I love skating but it gets so frustrating when im on the ice for hours just practising these small little things and i still can't do them.
Yeah, that is definitely a technique a lot of skater use. It is often done to help a skater control their entrance when the have a tendency to whip their three turns.
Hello Julia, thank you for posting such helpful videos. I am a beginner adult skater myself. Could you tell me what brand skating pants you wear? I am 43 years old and 5'1 and currently wear a women's size 8. What pants have you found to fit adult females appropriately? The size charts are mind boggling. We do not have apparel for sale in my town to compare so any advice would be appreciated. 😉
not sure if this is helpful, but I usually just wear regular leggings/yoga pants and I'll pull them down over my laces. I like the brand 90 degree by reflex. You can get them pretty cheap at TJ Maxx. I'm a size 8 in pants and usually wear a medium in leggings.
@@paramore4527 Thanks so much for the tips Andrea! I have been using traditional leggings but stretching them over my boot deforms the leggings around the ankle to wear outside of the rink. I tried LuLuLemon mid-calf but my ankle gets cold. I really wanted some over the heel leggings to protect my boot, and also because they look snazzy. 😉 I just can't seem to find a brand with a size chart that includes mature adult women 😂
Hi Helen, there are a few brands out there that make over the boot style skating pants, Frozen Couture is one. They have a range of children's and adult sizes. Lisa MiKinnon also makes some over the boot leggings. I actually sew my own leggings because then I can get the sizing exactly to my liking. I do hope to produce and sell a line of leggings one day soon though. 😁
@@CoachJulia Well, that explains why your leggings look awesome! I haven't looked into those brands only Jerrys, Chloé Noel, Mondor etc. and they all seem to fit a slender youth body type. At 5 feet tall, I may need to give up a few internal organs to fit into them 😉 Thanks for the tips!
I’m really lucky because the only 3 turn i can confidently and consistently do is the left outside one, so i basically gave myself a base for several jumps without being able to do any other 3 turns. Is not knowing other 3 turns good? Probably not, but it means that as someone teaching myself (with these videos) I can just try working on these jumps now. I’m so excited. 🥹✨
I so wish I had a coach like you! Thanks for the great video!
I appreciate that so much!
You really make everything look so easy 🤷♀️😍🇦🇺👌
😊 thank you

@@CypeltResortAustralia most do from a early age, not easy when you become older and start out. Just lots of practice and believe in yourself. 👍

Jennifer James At least seeing what moves are coming up can be a good motivator to practice. 😄

ERC 7422 10 is a great age to start skating! I am glad you have found my videos useful.
I quit skating two years ago and I miss it so much, this was my favourite jump :)
I love the slow-mo :) So helpful!

As always, so useful!! Thanks very much!!
Glad you think so!
I struggle so bad with 3 turns on the left side, but I was able to do the half flip (just without the 3 turn) today from watching this video!
You can also enter this jump with a mohawk rather than a 3-turn.
Perfect Traning,,,,I did enjoy it ,,,tnx ☕😍

Love the slow mo!!! 💖💖
Yay! Thank you!
Great tutoring as usual ❤️
Thank you!!
Love the new channel name!

That is a great suggestion!
Can you please do a tutorial for a single Flip jump?
Could you do a video for half lutz please🙏
I would be happy to! I actually have a plan to film that in the next week or two.
Do you have even videos regarding where you shop ? I want the cute attire but I don’t know where to buy the exact leggings or fleece
I wonder if the camera could follow you from behind? If possible. I can visualize myself doing the steps easier if I assume that position.
I can certainly try some different camera angles in future videos 🙂
Do you give classes online?

Mohawk is way easier than 3-turn.
Can u help me doing a scratch spin? I’m having trouble it’s my free leg and getting around my edge 🥺

Hi welcome fellow adult skater :) ask your coach i wear anything but prefer ice skating leggings:) or a skirt just ordered one from Facebook!
I wish you were my coach!
Awe, you are so kind!
She is.
Jus thought I’d point out its technically “1,2,3 - 1, Tap, 3 - Glide, 2, 3” not “tap,2,3”
Just in case anyone is confused by the counting :)
So i'm learning muzurkas, and this seems similar. Jump 180 instead of side ways
Did you see my video on this?
🌼♥️
When you land - do you land on the toepick or blade?
Toe pick...always. In all jumps.

What are those skates that you’re wearing? The only other person I’ve seen with those is my coach lol
I am wearing custom Harlick Skating Boots with an MK Gold Star Revolution blade. Love them.
