  • Giving yourself permission to enjoy something is a discipline that requires practice. This is just one of the many lessons snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan has learnt as he’s changed his approach to the game over the years.
In this chat with Fearne, Ronnie talks about how he would now always choose happiness over traditional markers of success, and how his challenging childhood made him incredibly resilient and able to cope with change, injustice, and adversity.
In Ronnie's latest book, Unbreakable, he shares what it takes to be the very best in your field. It's out on 11th May.

@Wayne Like Anthony slayed the overrated bottler Judd Trump at the Crucible? And Ronnie slaughtering the bottler Judd Trump at the World finals 2002..You're comparing one time and never again WSC winner Judd and Luca to 7 times World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🐐👍

I barely know about snooker, I play pool in the US, but I know of Ronnie's excellence. He actually plays pool very well also.

Most snooker players are great at pool because the tables are smaller and pockets are bigger.

I've watched/listened to a lot of interviews with Ronnie in the last couple of weeks. This is the best. Great questions Fearne, and really open answers by Ronnie. Brilliant. Completely agree with the scone philosophy too!!

That 'place', that 'peace and quiet' Ronnie talks about in the first two minutes, is the place of being, beyond the mind. It is where the true self always exists. The true self, which is neither the body or the mind, is sat (eternal being) chit (consciousness) and ananda (bliss)

The more innocent and simpler things in life can make on happy. However, you hold on to it more and it becomes more apparent what matters the most, the older you grow.

Why isn't happiness considered a part of success? An unhappy rich person has not fully succeeded in life.

I think it's very true, for addicts or addictive behaviour, happiness trumps success! The reason for ,I dnt mean u become a slob in life, however if ure always stressed constantly to achieve and or win,for addicts, that's a 100 % relapse waiting to happen! In this life we're all driven or expected to achieve, no matter what, yes, often times sacricing happiness! There's no time to relax,go,go,,go,and we'll the inevitable will happen, if u can't learn to b in a happy space, whatever that might b!Life needs balance, and that is virtually impossible to achieve, for those who do,I think, that's a win, success!🤔🙏🙏🙏👁👁👁👍🦾
