I am now intrigued :) my experience with 7th Continent was similar to yours... initially just loved it, but eventually got a bit tired of getting exhausted or having no idea which way and wandering off in a direction that turned out to be a dead end and oh look now we're low on cards etc...
The die & retry element was the big killer of the first game for me. Loved everything else about it, but having to retry the same stuff you'd already experienced made it incredibly unappealing. Didn't realise this had done away with that aspect, so a bit bummed I didn't back it now :(
Yeah 7th Continent had a similar abstract skull theme. I get the sense 7th Citadel will feature more 'underground/tunnel'-style of exploration, so it may be a hint at what's to come.

Nice overview mate! The comparison to the first and the evolution of it was great.
The character cards have the same stats, but I think each character has different ability cards!

I always get this confused with The 7th Continent.
