They still has the 3/10 mile exit signs, etc., in he early 2000s. The old toll plaza just south of Lemmon was a time capsule. Also for years it went down to 2 lanes at 635. Makes me feel old.
Many people don't realize the section of DNT between Stemmons and Alpha Road (North of LBJ was built on an old Rail Road ROW. This is why it's very narrow with no service roads in many areas, to take out as few homes as possible through Highland Park and University Park.
I love this toll way , yesterday I drove my Audi S5 V8 Supercharge at 145 MPH average (1:15 AM) .Between Frisco & North Dallas. With an BMW M? racing me the whole time .cool.
Awesome. Too bad you didn't take it all the way to Frisco ;) Is it possible to shunpike? I believe I saw the first toll facility north of I-635. I was also surprised to see only one lane going from I-35E to the DNT north. I thought that was the busiest connection (north-south).
I wish they more of that type of overhead sign gantries seen from 0:52 to 1:11 in the Houston area (though the Westpark Tollway has them for their tolling zones). Nevertheless, a great video. Thanks for sharing.
You said in the video that they are planning to get rid of cash lanes. My curiosity comes in with how do they plan to handle traffic from people from out of town or state who don't have them?
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Also at Plano Parkway there is no toll both, both entering and exiting, probably because the George Bush Turnpike ramps take up to much room to put in a tool booth. I always travel to Plano Parkway and get on there when I go South and exit at Plano Parkway when I'm heading North from Dallas. (the Park exit does have a toll both and Parker is a Toll Plaza) :).
I've only ever heard of exits that you couldn't get off of without a toll pass. But making people get them and pay for them in order to use the freeway is a little much. Granted Japan is pushy about people getting ETC.
3:23, that curve gets everybody no matter how many times you drive it!!!
Great job with the video, I have not driven the Tollway yet, looks like something from Pennsylvania in places.
Dallas North Tollway (DNT) reminds me of the Westpark Tollway in Houston TX

Great vids. You really show some parts of Dallas that most would never even know exist
You could travel from Harvest Hill to Downtown for .10 cents back in 1969

Very nice! The southern section of the tollway looks a lot like something you'd see in Pennsylvania, only much nicer, great looking stack at 3:56.
Yea, but the tollway has more Texas and PGBT personalities combined now. Pretty beautiful project.

Name of the track for this vid? Love it!
What is that big white building on the east (right-handed) side of the DNT at 3:23

Mavericks and stars stadium
Is it me, or are almost all the cars in this video black, white or grey?
How much are tolls?
+longwalkshortpier 50 cents
I agree looks a lot like Pennsylvania, if they could do proper on and off ramps.
Well, I'm impressed.
I gotta admit, That's pretty sick

@kramer3214 Next week, they are demolishing the Keller Springs Rd. and Parker Rd. Toll plazas, and replacing them with ETC gantries...
