I'm a Black man raised in South Central Los angeles.
What many don't know in the 70s we had bands in every block.
I was raised listening to this song.
It has always been one of my absolute favorites.
My older brother would pick me up from school in his Couger, blasting this cut.
Little know facts about the hood.
This is one of my top 5 of all time!

Great band with lots of hits. Saw them on a tour opening for Van Halen in the 80s and they were recording some live tracks. They were so loud I had to go out in the Vending/Restroom area of the coliseum...lol. Oh yeah, did you know that Van Halen picked BTO as their support for that tour because they reckoned that after the audience had sat through a set of BTO's greatest hits, they would be in a good mood and not bash and boo at Van Halen's then new singer Sammy Hagar - had they previously been so inclined? As it turned out, Van Halen had no cause for concern, "5150" becoming an instantly huge album and the band's first #1 in the US, but I still think it's a great story.

I know I’m aging myself but that ball with a light shining on it was the only
“special effects” at the BTO concert I attended! As Asia would say, “what?”

The lead singer was Fred Turner. When this song was released in 1973 there were three Bachman's in the group. Those three were Randy (the lead guitarist), Robbie (the drummer), and Tim (guitarist, vocals). By the way the other BTO song Y'all reacted to was "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet". Now you need to do there second hit that "Let It Ride" was on. That song is called "Taking Care of Business". Two others that you might find real good are "Hey You" and "Roll on Down the Highway". All of these are still heard on Classic Rock Stations here in the U.S. Thank you Asia and BJ for your reaction to this song.

Did you guys ever think you’d reach a point in your life where you might be out shopping somewhere and you might hear Let It Ride playing in the store and you’ll be able to look at each other and say “Bachman Turner Overdrive!” 🤣

Asia and BJ I think BJ nailed the sentiment going on here. HE, the singer, once, let it ride. Now he's sticking it on her and asking, will SHE let it ride. For whatever misdeed he's guilty of? That's my take, too.
    Very good commercial song.
    Excellent review.

In an interview Randy Bachman said he and Bachman-Turner Overdive were sharing a dressing room with the Doobie Brothers during Mardi Gras in New Orleans back in the early 1970s, when he was working out the final guitar parts for "Let it Ride." The Doobies liked it so much that they used very similar chords on one of their biggest hits "Long Train Running" from their best album "The Captain and Me" (1973). Compare the two songs and you will see right away they were baked in the same oven. Two of _THE_ best rhythm based Classic Rock bands ever. In fact, Randy stated plainly in another interview that he specifically was trying to create a rhythm based rock band in the same vein as CCR and the Doobie Brothers when he formed BTO! Great stuff Asia and BJ! 💥🎸🎙️🎶🎸
