seems like a very lowkey way to haul weed from place to place. what officer is gonna check a guy on a model steam train for hauling weed? just build a station to ur buddy's place and ur good :D

Great job by the Northern. Even for 7.5 gauge I'm sure its hefty but it doesn't take much to break loose on wet rail especially pushing the plow.

@Adam Cartwright Pennsylvania Live Steamers is in Rahns, PA. They're 7.25". There is a privately owned 7.5" gauge line closer to you but I forgot the name of the railroad.

@Adam Cartwright Hope you have deep pockets. A nicely detailed Pennsy E6 Atlantic like that would set you back about $25,000 to $30,000 dollars used. Brand new it would be even more. Unless you build it yourself.

The Northern looks like a working loco - gritty, scuffed and hard working. Plowing the snow doesn't look easy, either. Got to balance having enough speed to not stall with going too fast and overloading the snow blower. Looks like a fun job.

Some live steamers have working sanders, but remember that prototype snow being pushed by a 1/8th loco is quite a job. Nice use of a the big northern in this case. Well done, folks!

PRR5406 they could go 1 step further and use that 2-4-4-2 mallet type engine that i saw a few times when theres no snow. It would be better there couse its more powerful and would slip less.

Could you put a steam injector in the mouth of the snowplow. That might help the snow move in to the Rotary better by not letting the snow buildup on the outside of the plow. Or that might use up too much steam? Great video 👍🏻👍🏻

@@mattseymour8637 I know what you were asking about, and my reply still stands. Any coal that fits in the fire door and burns is what I use. My engine doesn't really care what you feed it as long as it has BTU content. The grate area and tube diameter is large enough to burn crappy coal and still steam fine without getting plugged with soot or clinkering up quickly, plus my engine has an arch and shaker grates. Bituminous, Anthracite, Welsh, Lignite, Peat Moss, Wet Branches, or even old Shoes, it doesn't care one bit.

praestant8 a "proper" scale snowplow in this scale would be good for crap...aside from a paperweight. If you expect things to work, and function, you don't build to scale. That northern was built like a tank and it took a lot of its power to keep that cutting through the snow. If it was scale...forget it.
