I started to play aeo 2 with a colleague of mine and his tactic is building castles and barracks right near my border (in arena) in the castle age (he usually prefers Huns). This tactic gets me every time, do you have a suggestion, how can I defend myself against this tactic? I tried turks fast imp but was too slow, barely made it to imp age at minute 35 :D .
Hey! I'm glad you gave the Turks fast imp a try, if you could get to imp more quickly he would have no way to defend his castle against your bombard cannons and you could take out all of his forward buildings as well. If you want to try a different strategy though, you could do a fast castle build order into a defensive castle to protect your eco and play defensively. You have a lot of options from there like, a ram push, continuing to boom, or stop making vils to get to imperial to make trebs and take down his castle. Your up times should be similar to Castle Age, so have your Light Cav scouting the front of your base. If you see enemy villagers come forward, don't panic, send your Light Cav to attack and delay them. Your Light Cav will die, but its sacrifice will be honored. Wall behind your base with your Siege Workshop, Monastery and some stone walls. I'd recommend only selling 100 stone at the beginning, so you can have enough to have a second layer of walls. You'll be in Imperial Age 2 mins after the castle goes up, and have bombard cannons out a minute later to take out his forward castle. Mass hand cannoneers, but keep them garrisoned so your enemy doesn't see them. Once the Castle is down, send forth your army and win. 35 minutes is not Fast Imp :D.. It's slower than 4 TC regular Imp. Make sure your TC is not idle, practice build orders and you'll be good to go.
the second your opponent hits castle age, stop making villagers and make two ranges and a stable. and mass crossbows and knights. you should have a better eco so even if he is getting better trades, you should be able to out produce as long as you can hold him from destroying your base. and it is tough but once you get it down, it is very consistent because you don't have to focus on anything else Thanks for checking out the video!
You do not have to play the Turks like this. I play Turks almost every game these days (I almost exclusively play ranked 1v1, open maps, I Hate arena), I've never gone fast imperial. I'm really vibing well with the Turk style of play. They're able to do both light raids (Scout cavalry and Cavalry archer lines are much stronger than average) and decisive pushes (Janis/Hand cannon with Bombard Cannon plus infinite hussar). People say they're not versatile, but I argue they're one of the most versatile because they are very well able to do both of what I mentioned above. As if that was not enough, the gold bonus quietly also makes everything run that much smoother.
I will tell you, what is turk's real weakness . They are very waek against trash units. Just keep sending halbs and elit skrishers.That will be enough. Wait untill.they run out of gold. Actually in my opinion, without any non cavalry trash, they are one of the worst civ in AOE2.

If you play spanish and make conquistadors they are pretty good against huns
