We stayed in The Retreat on Apex last March and loved the whole experience. It’s not something we would normally do but it was our 25th anniversary so we figured what the hell? If you can do it I highly recommend it.

@8:05 -- Just in case you didn't find out later, those are the doors for the 2nd floor of the Edge Villas. On deck 15 are the same stateroom doors as all the other cabins, and it leads to the main level of the room. Inside the room at the top of the steps to the bedroom/master bath area, there is the second door which is actually TWO doors. The door you saw is actually one of two doors (weather? noise?), with a "standard" stateroom door directly behind it.
As an aside.. those outer doors are a battle after a few drinks from the retreat bar 😁

do you know what percentage of the ship has access to the retreat?

We're not sure about the percentage, but it's only for suite guests, so there aren't a lot of people.
