You reminded me of a sandwich that was served in the cafeteria at my high school 1975. It's so simple: Elbow pasta tuna salad on a soft hot dog roll.Well it's not a sandwich it's on a hot dog roll. Tuna, celery, onion, lemon juice, black pepper mayonnaise vegetables were minced.
Awesome. I knew swapping the lettuce would help. Iceberg is for sweet crunch, and basically the whole sandwich was sweet crunch, and it was throwing off the balance. The salmon one surprised me because its not what I would have thought of, but in hindsight that makes a lot of sense.
I'm not sure that I would count the additional walnuts as a "plus up", since the original recipe said, "As many chopped walnut meats as desired". I do like idea of using more, though. Admittedly, I am biased here because I love walnuts. I can't really complain about it either way with so many additional plus ups, though. Thanks for the video!
The Sandwich Slop(TM) looked so strange that I had to immediately go rewatch the first video to recall what was in it. Truly doesn't sound (or taste or smell, I assume) nearly as offensive as it looks!
@@mitchells2003 It's kind of like a liquidy lemon curd with walnuts in it. Like butter, sugar, egg yolks, lemon iirc. And yet it looks like canned gravy.
no matter what you plus it up with, that phlegmy lookin filling still gives me the ick!! ty for trying so many options, though!! on a side note, when you do these revisiting episodes (not that it happens all that often), would it be possible to do a little recap of the original recipe? took me a minute to remember what that lumpy gray slime was on the og recipe
He really put in the work to try a lot of the suggestions, thanks Barry for your commitment to journalism
A man of the people! Thank you for listening to our crazy (and not-so-crazy) ideas.
Love how the 'a go' went down in energy each time until completely disappearing at the end haha
I'm just glad it tastes better than it looks.
My suggested plus-up was the winner! 🥓🥓
This was great, love seeing all the different plus ups!

It was so fun to watch you add each plus up on each slice! Our dog was a big fan of the video too as always
6 plus ups! Barry you are The Man!!!
All great ideas. Good job comment section. Thanks Barry.👍👍
Hey, got here early! Love your videos!
Hey, thanks!

agreed lol, bacon's almost always an easy plus up

This should be a regular feature on your channel. Maybe once. Month? Thanks!

I missed the other video. What's in the sauce?

@@mitchells2003 If you want to watch it, the video is titled, "High School Sandwich (1916) on Sandwiches of History"
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon and SPAM !!!
Glad to hear this at 1:39 !!
The best sandwich I ever had was fried bologna in white bread. With lettuce, tomatoes and mayo.
No surprise on the lettuce swap out being a good idea, iceberg is so beige.
Nice review with the improvements! Also: After that goat cheese you now need to wash the shirt. 😂
Our famous High School sandwich was bread, butter, peanut butter, jelly, bread.
Still think you should have tried my plus up idea. I'll give it a go and share how it went.
I imagine you have already done the Aussie salad sandwich?
...no?
@@SandwichesofHistory one can google “Australian salad sandwich” and it’s exactly what it says it is. No surprises

If only youtube had a function where you could search for other videos, alas such a thing is far beyond the scope of modern software engineers!
Gutted you didn’t go with my banana.
(I tried…it’s worth it!)
Not doing blue cheese and dried dates like I suggested is borderline criminal
I guess if lettuce is a requirement I’d stick with the iceberg
Its flavor would at least take its backseat to the alternative components
I'd think the meat would steal focus from the walnuts.
The key word in that sentence is "almost". Don't add bacon to a fluffer nutter.
I'm disappointed that you didn't combine the lemony goodness witha pickley pop. Just sayin
Captain Bacon to the rescue!!
I wonder if you’ll ever find a sandwich which bacon is incapable of improving? I know hard to imagine but hey, anything’s possible right?
Bacon improves friggin’ ICE CREAM.
At this point, it’s basically an inescapable law of physics.
Maybe those sweet cream and fruit sandwiches they have in Japan.
I bet it wouldn't work with the yeast sandwich.
Most likely anything that is already too salty will not be improved by adding bacon.
Bacon on a lemon curd sandwich is a minus down.
Why not plussed up with bacon, chicken and jam?
Six? SIX??? SIX entire plusups! That's almost a week of plusups!
>:E
My ex wife played well with the nuts in both ways.
What?? No 'pickly pop' ??
Bacon can make a dog doot sandwich taste good
Romaine is NOT an upgrade. Unsubscribed.
😂
Put some fanny batter on it.
