It was underrated cause it was on the game cube. I’m assuming most people, like pav, didn’t have a game cube and ultimately forgot about the game and just played the SvR games.
I was more than fortunate to enjoy all of the WWE games growing up! In my own opinion, I had pros & cons with the Xbox & PS2 games but DOR hit different. The impact of slams, detail, graphics, & the entrances were amazing! I would buy a switch if they was to make a 3rd installment
@@Kingbossdon It was a glitch were you add Regal's Knee Trembler to your move set and when u activate the move and go to the ropes just before you hit your opponent change your target to another opponent. That opponent would be stuck waitng for you to hit the move.

The best thing about this game is that you can manually set up the 619 yourself, which you can't even do in 2K22 without editing Rey's moveset and giving him the other version. Used to love putting them on the ropes and executing it because it felt like I was doing it all myself 🔥
@@BE_WERM no you can't. You can put them on the ropes but the 619 animation is automatic. DOR2 let you do the 619 animation whether they're on the ropes or not
My mind was blown that Day of Reckoning existed as I played the hell out of Day of Reckoning 1 and still cherish the gameplay it brought to us Interrupting someone's finisher always felt so awesome!
Funny you said “its like they said this is the last GameCube wrestling game, just throw everything out there” because before the release one of the developers did an interview and they flat out said “This will be the last GameCube wrestling game, so we pushed it to it’s absolute limit”
this game was the end of an era in many respects. it was the last game made exclusively for Nintendo, it was the last game to use the modified AKI engine, and it was the last game that was a western port of a Japanese game, the Day of Reckoning games where just ports of Wrestle Kingdom 1 and 2. but unlike Wrestle Kingdom 1 and 2, the Western port was Nintendo Gamecube exclusive, while the Wrestle Kingdom game where on Xbox 360 and PS2 in japan, Wrestle Kingdom 2 was PS2 exclusive.
One of my favorite wrestling games and in my opinion the best looking wrestling game ever. My only complaints on this game is the stamina system I wish they gave us the option to turn it off, the a.i. sucks they always team up against you in triple threat or fatal four way or Royal Rumble matches. Randy Orton doesn't have his white wrist tape, Rey Mysterio doesn't have his gloves or elbow pads and no Championship matches in Exhibition which is a shame cause the Championship Titles look amazing. Like I said I love this game I've played so many hours, I beat the Story Mode 2 or 3 times, I also remember with the infamous fatal four way steel cage match I beat it in 5 minutes somehow one time and when I did it again it took me about 19 or 29 minutes to beat it with a 20 or 30 minute time limit. The one match I hate the most in Story Mode is the Fatal Four Way Match with Rob Van Dam, Orlando Jordan, and Heidenreich it was a nightmare when I got to that match I stopped playing the game which felt like 6 months. After that I played again and finally won the fatal four way match in my opinion that match was worse than the fatal four way steel cage match. Also Thanks Pav for looking back at WWE Day of Reckoning 1 and 2 cause those are some of my most nostalgic WWE games growing up great video man keep it up. 1:32
I don’t see how anyone can talk about this game without talking about the fatal four way cage match at Summerslam in the story mode. It took me literally 15 years to beat.
One of the very games that carried my childhood for sure. I remember being blown away by the graphics and presentation, ESPECIALLY on a GameCube console. I would play this all night, only to get my ass kicked by Triple H, Batista, Ric Flair, and the Undertaker. They were INSANELY overpowered in this game, no matter the difficulty.
Ah Day Of Reckoning 2 glad to see this get covered by you as tbh as much as I love Here Comes The Pain and No Mercy I think this game is my favorite. All the reasons you mentioned are solid but I also love that this game was the only GameCube wwe game to have ring announcing with Tony Chimel which added to the presentation and visuals. I also like the stamina system as it adds more strategic elements as you can't spam attacks or run around, you have to pick your moves carefully. Another thing is the awesome new submission system as there is depth to it: choosing Drain lets you drain stamina from your opponent, Rest Hold lets you recover a bit of stamina, taunt helps with momentum and submit is for damage and obtaining submission wins. I also love that they added Last Man Standing to the game and even more cool is as far as I know it's the only game where you can play 3 way or 4 way versions of the match. It's probably my favorite match type and I'm always sure to play it whenever I revisit this game. Honestly this game is like the best modern version of No Mercy we got and it feels like a great evolution and it's definitely a game that people should play. I played this game for hours as a kid, unlocking everything, playing the fantastic story mode and just having fun. For that it's likely my favorite wrestling game and I'm glad to see you giving it it's well deserved due Pav.
This is the first WWE game with a 3D crowd and they follow you to the ring like they're on a lazy Susan. Def Jam Fight for New York by AKI Corporation (developers of No Mercy) beat WWE by year with 3D crowd members that not only handed weapons they also held you or your opponent for double team moves and pushed them working as an Irish whip for rebound strikes and grapples.
I wonder if the stamina meter is the reason why NoDQ CAW's Aaron Rift hated this game? Also, if Stacy Keibler is your "bedroom mate" in this game's story mode, then sign Jared Pobre up, and job his loser ass out!
Some may agree or disagree with me, But THIS GAME and MADDEN O7 were best games on the Nintendo Game Cube! Brings back so many memories! Thank you for these videos! @WrestlinGifs
I remember my cousin used to play this game it's definitely the best looking one for it's time I used to play storymode with him and we'd take turns on trying to beat the story and man that fatal four along with the cage matches were a pain in the ass
Easily in my top 3. I was lucky enough to have a Gamecube, Xbox and PS2s WWE installments and i’ll say it the Smackdown games were good but they’re overhyped because everyone owned a PS2. Day of Reckoning 1 & 2 and RAW 2 were easily better than any Smackdown game. Everything from the Mechanics, Customization was just better. The PS2 installments felt very outdated
I loved this game back in the day. I thought it was so good. My absolute favorite thing was the ability to double stack tables on top of the announcers table.
Same now that i’m thinking about it i’m glad that my family was broke growing up. My first system was a gamecube in 04 and then I got a PS2 and Xbox in 2007 for free and had all the DOTR, Raw and Smackdown games, I remember going into gamestop when they still had PS2 and Xbox games and i found em all for around $5 each and my parents didn’t mind paying it because they knew they knew all of em would last for years😂 man the memories
I have WWE Day of Reckoning 2 on the Nintendo Gamecube the soundtrack is amazing the story Mode is great and the game has Stacy Keibler on the Cover that game already has thumbs up glad I bought the game when I got my Nintendo Gamecube last year because I never played this game before when it was released in 2005
If you like the Gamecube WrestleMania/DOR series, look into Japan exclusive Wrestle Kingdom 1 and 2 on the PS2. They're from the same team that made DOR. Basically sequels. I'd also check out AEW Fight Forever, it's basically the same formula as DOR, which had Lead Designers from AKI/No Mercy Shunsuke Katsumata and Takumi Kon with Yuke's Osaka team, but in the case of Fight Forever, it's No Mercy's director Hideyuki Iwashita (aka Geta-san) and Yuke's main Smackdown/SVR team in Yokohama.
You can actually have 9 finishing moves this game (10 if you count the Momentum Shift). The catch is that you can only have one finisher for each situation (i.e. flying, front grapple, rear grapple, running, etc.).
Thank you so much for making this video, DoR 2 is such a hidden gem when it comes to wrestling games and I'm so happy you share the same enthusiasm for it as I do
From age 5 I was a Smackdown Series fan, me and my older cousin would play Smackdown and Smackdown 2 on ps1. From there I was hooked and played every game in the Smackdown Series! But in 2008 for my 13th Birthday I was gifted a gamecube with Day Of Reckoning 1 and 2 these games were lit asf!! Some of my observations: 1) WrestleMania 18 has only 4 standing front grapples and wwe day of reckoning 2 has 8 front grapples... 2)In day of reckoning 2 you can climb inside hell in cell.. in WrestleMania 18 you can't climb inside part cell 3)Both has good weapon physics than wwe svr 2011 ps2 (Breaking table while performing nearby moves, Ladder will also be a part of move)
Day of reckoning 1 was good but day of reckoning 2 tops that and for that reason is my favorite one out of that series I wish there would be a day of reckoning 3
Played it with my brother I was really young at that time and didn't knew a single thing about wwe just John cena because my brother was a mark of cena so I played with him in his little gamecube and that day I became a wrestling fan I still have some fond memories of this games to be exact I played 5 matches with my bro because the next tine I went to his house he had a ps2 but this game will always have a soft spot in my heart
I think each console having its own identity in wrestling games is neat and all, but personally I think every console being able to have the same game so certain players aren't left out was probably a change for the better.
I played it not too long ago when my friend suggested it, I didn’t think it was way too different from svr but it is definitely super fun, great game. I do recommend.
I owned DOR 1 my cousin owned DOR 2 and you already know 1 and 2 are completely different beasts, they may as well be cousins themselves, everything that was great about DOR 1 wasn’t just refined and tweaked a little in the sequel like the SVR sequels, same game new coat of paint, no DOR 2 was something completely different but still similar enough that anyone who played 1 could pick up and play. My cousin and my step brother and I would wage absolute wars on eachother for hours, we had so much time invested into both games, and DOR 2 is still the only game with fatal 4 way last man standing match and my god what an amazing match type that was.
To this day 2024, WWE hasn’t had a game like Day of Reckoning 2…still my favorite Just the way you can interrupt a opponent’s move hitting him, no simulation no bs😢I miss DOR2
If it wasnt for the massive price drop nintendo decided to give for gamecube in 2003 dropping the console price to only $99.99 i would have never experienced the day of reckoning 1 & 2. Games were absolutely fantastic and brought in the customizing of entraces in to wrestling games. From different animation sets, pyro, lighting and camera angles for stage, ramp, by the ring on the floor and in ring.
I loved the DOR games the only thing I didn't like about them was that you couldn't host title matches in exhibition mode. Regardless I still played these games more than the svr series overall.

Fortunately, I had a PS2, Xbox, and GameCube growing up. So I was lucky enough to play all of the WWE games at the time.
Bischoff looks do f*n real here!
18:56 The distance LMAO that was insane
It makes me wonder what DOR 3 would be like on the Wii
Best mechanics for a HIAC
To this day 2024, WWE hasn’t had a game like Day of Reckoning 2…still my favorite
Just the way you can interrupt a opponent’s move hitting him, no simulation no bs😢I miss DOR2
DOR 2 was literally my first WWE game that & Wrestlemania X8 on the GameCube. Good times tbh
Only thing I hate about this Game is how they forgot to Give Rey His Gloves and Randy his Wrist Tape other than that it’s amazing 😅
a look at wwe raw on the og xbox would be fire🔥
Just a few days ago, I rebought this gem 🙌 I did regret selling it back then
the each of DOR games look like a PS3 game, the graphics looks so amazing I'm currently playing DOR1 and I'm having a blast.
The way you zoomed in on Mr. Benoit has me laughing loud as hell
The best looking cover for a wrestling game
Yo can u do a video on how Shelton Benjamin could’ve been a main enventer or rebook Shelton Benjamin, just do something about Shelton plz
I loved the DOR games the only thing I didn't like about them was that you couldn't host title matches in exhibition mode. Regardless I still played these games more than the svr series overall.
