Architecture in Russia is truly amazing. I've been watching for quite a few years how Putin has been supportive in preserving Russian culture. Especially it's architecture. It tells a story This architecture used to exist in the USA. Since the late 1800s, they've been tearing it down or attempting to disguise it to erase the real story. Russia's story will surprise you. In almost every Russian city you can find Mexican restaurants. Personally, Mexican quesadilla is one of my favorite dishes, I definitely cook it once a month! 😋
What a beautiful city (that I never heard of before*)! Also unique are the way Russians make their statues; I love their style/artistic sensibility/movement. Well...traffic that high is never enticing, that's true. I hope the Russians figure out that keeping the old alongside the new is preferable to just modernizing/high buildings. I find it interesting that the Mexican restaurants are as good and authentic as LA and Mexico itself. Wow. My favorite: the street art (not graffiti). The Russian artists really have a different vision/sensibility. It's so unique and captivating. Thanks again Senya and Dan!

6:40 this is Alexander Pokryshkin - second highest scoring pilot of the allies during WWII. actually many ppl myself included believe him to be the top scoring guy because he is just 3 confirmed victories behind Ivan Kozhedub, but Pokryshkin was fighting from the very start of the War in June 1941 and i think some (presumably quite a few) of his victories just left unregistered due to the chaos of retreat early war.
@@Wild-Siberia yes and he was also know for having habit of giving away lots of his airkills to his wingmen. The trick is that fighter aircrafts fly in pairs with lead fighter actually fighting the enemy while wingman's role is mostly to watch lead's back. So without wingman the lead can't truly do his job, but wingmen didn't get much chances to score hits themselves. But for this part I'm not sure if it would affect ranking - most Red Army aces seemed to sign some of their victories at their wingmen name
I announced a long time before I went but I’m sure I’ll go back again to record another episode to show how fast Novosibirsk builds. please share with others from your city I love reading native comments!
Modern Novosibirsk appeared in 1893 as a New Village in connection with the construction of a railway bridge over the Ob River during the Trans-Siberian Railway, writes Wikipedia. Since at that time it was relevant to give the names of rulers to settlements, first the village was made from the village of Alexandrovsky, in honor of Emperor Alexander III, and then renamed in honor of Nicholas II to Novonikolaevsky, then to the city of Novonikolaevsk.
I've been living in NSK for all my life. When I pause and look back, I realize that the city is really growing fast. I used to dislike these five-floor buildings, which are called “Khrushchevs” here in Russia (in the name of its promoter, the Soviet leader N.S Hruschov, 1894 - 1971, it was a cheap living space available for everyone). But the less I see them behind the new buildings the more they look like history giving me some nostalgic vibes. And they usually have such quiet and green courtyards where it is pleasant to relax on a hot and busy day =) Wish all the luck to you and the growth to your channel.
i only walked from one side of the city to the other. Novosibirsk is growing too fast to see everything or mention everything. i will return and make more videos from there for Sure. thanks for watching please share with others from your city thanks

When I checked the zone/pricing it was for Cali to Mongolia. I dare say that either Korea or Ulaan Baatar might have a better spread of items than available in Hilo or Kailua Kona ; -). DHL might be different and fly direct but then you are paying for speed of delivery that isn't necessary, You need to wait for the Chinese stores to move in like I saw in Portugal, Crete, and Serbia- like dollar stores but carry almost everything!
I'm from a small town near Novosibirsk and I'm glad to see that people from the west are actually starting to see the beauty of Russia. Makes me want to go back as well...by the way I'm pretty sure that little street is older than 50 years. More like 90-100.
Good to hear your comparisons with America. All cities have old areas .Some preserve during expansion where others are demolished. With all the units being built Novosibirsk must be attracting people from all over Russia for its lifestyle. I only spent one night in Novosibirsk but went to my first Ice Hokey Game enjoyed the old tram heated seats and loved the size of the Railway Station..
It seems to me that there is construction all over Russia right now, especially in large cities or not so large cities, but interesting from the point of view of history and tourism. And this process tends to increase and expand. All the time you can see something being built or repaired or read about plans to build something new, large-scale and grandiose. And it makes me very happy.
@k1ssulja You live in a parallel world. What tourism? In times of war? When young Russians are being sent to kill and be killed in Ukraine? When billions of rubles are being wasted on weapons which are then used to destroy Ukrainian cities? Russia is grandiose the same way Nazi Germany was grandiose - in madness, destruction and callous indifference of ordinary citizens.

A beautiful monument to Lenin. Russians cherish Lenin's monuments, cherish them - they are native to Russians. Where Ilyich stands and proudly looks at the city -this city rises from the ruins, develops, is being built. There is a revival of Russia. And the Ukrainians, in their native land, knocked Lenin down, abused him. And Lenin did not forgive them such humiliation and began to punish them, plunging Ukraine into the dark depths of chaos of inadequacy. That's the order of wisdom. Believe it or not)

¡Hola!
Dan, you missed out on visiting Akademgorodok, the Academic City near Novosibirsk. Its an entire city devoted to the pursuit of scholarly work. American universities are similar in some ways but they aren’t quite on this level found in Russia!
Hey brother. I’m jealous you found El Centro Taqueria on your first trip to Novosibirsk. I lived there for 6 years and it took me about 2 years to find it. Best tacos and burritos there second only to taco street vendors in Los Angeles (my hometown by way of birth). Sorry you had to endure the vehicle mayham near the Ob River. Those roads are definitely not pedestrian-friendly especially when you want to get to the other side closest to the river. I also believe you made your way to the left-bank part of the city. That part is considered more affordable as compared to the right side. I lived in both areas. The left side is very “homey” and I have nothing but wonderful memories living there. Novosibirsk is deff unforgettable and I’m glad you enjoyed your visit there. Semper Fi!
So you miss communist times? I know that the communists often speak about Putin and modern Russia in a similar spirit. They remember only the good things about the USSR and have forgotten all the bad things that were in it.
BROTHER, Lenin was a great politician, IT WAS HE WHO CREATED a STATE where the absolute majority of people were equal in their rights, it was he who created the state in 1945 that crushed 80% of German divisions in bloody battles and defeated them, it was in the state he created that there was free medicine and education.USSR model 1923-1955 (including here and NEP) this is the top creation of modern humanity in terms of social guarantees and economy.By the way, China is also NEP now, so even with NEP they were able to bring their economy to the highest level
GULAG humanity? I have heard opinions that Russia could have been country of 400 milion people population and economy equivalent to the US if there was no Lenin, bolshevik, Stalin and other communists destroying it. What most people idealizing communist past are missing is that progress that existed in communist industrial countries was real, but it was still the fraction of progress and human wellbeing achieved in noncommunist industrial countries.
@@markotoshich7676 Ahahah, I'll tell you the secret of the polichinel: there is a GULAG in every developed country, just different names, so in modern Russia it is now called the FSIN (Federal Penitentiary Service), in the USA it is called, if I'm not mistaken, the Federal Department of Justice and the Departments of Correctional Institutions of the United States., so once again I repeat the GULAG, it is everywhere, but with its own names. As for the so-called victims of the Gulag, I can tell you the following:in the second half of the 80s of the last century, on the wave of anti-Sovietism and revisionism, the archives of the USSR were completely opened, in which two historians-archivists Alexander Nikalaevich Dugin and Viktor Nikolaevich Zemsky were allowed to work, so I do not know if their works have been translated into English, but in Russian they have several large monographs that they we did it according to the results of that work in in the archives, they both came to the conclusion that during the 70 years of Soviet power, only about 800 thousand people were sentenced to capital punishment, so the allegations about millions shot in the GULAG are utter nonsense and lies!
800 000 capital punishments (death sentences)? By the way, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky were describing socialist for what they are, decades before realization of socialist ideas in practice. They described ambitious, ruthless people that used high moral goals to cover their horrible actions. These socialist ideas when applied as prescribed, lead to destroying the most productive elements in the society and destruction of conservative pilars of the society which lead to collapse. China, despite it's party's name, is the least socialist and least communist country today. Workers there do not own means of production and are working in very harsh conditions. Chinese allowed some of their most capable people to take relatively independent economic actions and results are there. China is develped county, despite history of starvation under Mao.
@@markotoshich7676 You are already confusing such concepts as socialism and communism. And the Communists were not as cruel as you describe them, after coming to power in October 1917, they only responded to the actions of the whites (monarchists and the provisional government) and foreign interventionists, but no one who claims the opposite can explain to me why the communists, if they were so cruel, have you created universal high-quality education and medicine? How did it happen that at the end of World War II, the population of the USSR was 170 million people, and at the time of the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the population was already 290 million people? Is it all because of the brutality that the population grew at such a pace?

Novonikolayevsk ("New Nicholas") was the cities original name and probably the reason why you saw the statute of Tsar Nicholas 2 and his son Alexia. I'm sure you won't find many Tsar statues in Siberia. I was shocked to see that one.
Thank you for your kindness! please share this with others from your city I love reading comments from natives.

6:40 this is Alexander Pokryshkin - second highest scoring pilot of the allies during WWII. actually many ppl myself included believe him to be the top scoring guy because he is just 3 confirmed victories behind Ivan Kozhedub, but Pokryshkin was fighting from the very start of the War in June 1941 and i think some (presumably quite a few) of his victories just left unregistered due to the chaos of retreat early war.
amazing thanks for the information!
And he was highest-scoring pilot ever to fly an American aircraft(Bell P-39 Airacobra)

And they usually have such quiet and green courtyards where it is pleasant to relax on a hot and busy day =)
Wish all the luck to you and the growth to your channel.
Thank you very much for giving input on what you've seen please share with others from your city I love reading what natives have to say!

@@sidnelson9379 was just thinking for future small electronics it may be easier to ship from Hawaii to Korea or Mongolia
@@Wild-Siberia Oddly enough Hawaiian shipping and USPO mail has to go to mainland before mailing international, and we have the same extreme zone (10) to send or receive anywhere on the mainland for First Class Mail.. When I checked the zone/pricing it was for Cali to Mongolia. I dare say that either Korea or Ulaan Baatar might have a better spread of items than available in Hilo or Kailua Kona ; -).
That sounds like such a good and comfortable form of travel!
I just was in Novosibirsk - yesterday! how small the world is..

@@zed007 I have a small vocabulary for things like this
It seems to me that there is construction all over Russia right now, especially in large cities or not so large cities, but interesting from the point of view of history and tourism. And this process tends to increase and expand. All the time you can see something being built or repaired or read about plans to build something new, large-scale and grandiose. And it makes me very happy.
It's actually true Russia is for sure flourishing!
Yes, it's true, I see it too, the trend pleases!
@k1ssulja
You live in a parallel world.
Soooo!
I enjoyed your trip in the city of Novosibirsk a lot! Sure, you had no time to take a look at everything, to check every stone, but I really, really appreciate you both coming here! You'd find a lot cooler things there if you had at least a day more, like racoon caffee and local malls, especially suburban ones... There're rich story and backgrounds behind almost everything so you could find some brilliants to share with the rest of the world I believe))
But time is merciless, that's that~

A beautiful monument to Lenin. Russians cherish Lenin's monuments, cherish them - they are native to Russians. Where Ilyich stands and proudly looks at the city -this city rises from the ruins, develops, is being built. There is a revival of Russia.
And the Ukrainians, in their native land, knocked Lenin down, abused him. And Lenin did not forgive them such humiliation and began to punish them, plunging Ukraine into the dark depths of chaos of inadequacy. That's the order of wisdom. Believe it or not)

Semper Fi!

Thanks for the history lesson!
Very funny you found Mexican food in Russia! Any menudo? Man, that food must have been delicious if you haven't had it in a while.
it was extremely delicious! I truly needed it! no menudo Russians don’t really have corn how we do.
No thank you for watching share if possible :D
Great video !! You're right, imagine walking near the Skid Row or something like that , or any place around downtown LA, you'll be killed. Security is something I really appreciate about Russia!
I think most Russians don’t understand this I think they think their crime and danger is large. of course they have danger and crime but they should be proud of the safety they have and better it with time 🙏🏻
Thank you so much share with anyone who may be interested :D
@@Wild-Siberia okay)

Thank you for sharing your adventures in Russia.
Some points you made is also true for new york crazy drivers, graffiti in some parts in florida is the norm. And about city messed same can be said about chicago, richmond, baltimore. But it is what it is.
Again thank you for your work. I enjoy your videos.
Yea but for instance theres large cities in Russia with little crime and graffiti
we don't like and support graffiti in Russia - it makes cities look dirty, u won't find any in Moscow, expect they have made up with the authorities and it's a masterpiece
Hello, thanks for video.Wanted to share a few interesting facts about the city: Krasny Prospekt (the street from the beginning of the video) is the longest straight street in the world (almost 7 km); the metro bridge over the Ob River is the longest metro bridge in the world (over 2 km); the Opera House is the largest theater in Russia. If you ever come again, be sure to visit the Museum of Burial Culture and the Museum of the Sun. These are unique museums not only in Russia, but also in the world, and there are expositions about the history of South America.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share this
Novonikolayevsk ("New Nicholas") was the cities original name and probably the reason why you saw the statute of Tsar Nicholas 2 and his son Alexia.
I'm sure you won't find many Tsar statues in Siberia. I was shocked to see that one. In the late 1800s Tsar Nicholas 2 father Tsar Alexander 3 used to send all the political dissidents to Siberia.. hence the reason why years later Vladimir Lenin became popular.
As always a great video. . and beautiful city.
Yes I am very educated on the pre soviet names of many of the cities and towns in siberia :D I loved seeing the statue of the Tsar its very uncommon period. Thanks for watching brother much love 🙏🏻🇷🇺
I’m always amazed by how much culture and beauty Russia has. I couldn’t imagine living there during communist times but their architecture and massive scale buildings are incredible.
