    Excellent review it was everything Drew and Mason 😄. I drove a 2003 Maxima SE in college, so the 2019 model has definitely been sharpened and looks much more athletic for sure from the 2016. I'm honestly surprised there's no electronic parking brake, a button could have been placed around the shift lever or left of the steering column. It's interesting that Nissan did not go with an electronic parking brake for the Maxima. It certainly looked like a beautiful day during your review. I love scenic roads, and you two hit this one way out the park testing the Maxima on back country roads it was 🔥🔥. There were parts that reminded me of North Carolina where I went to college. Honestly, the sunshine and back roads made the entire review. I'm not trying to out comment anyone, but I simply applaud you Drew and Mason for running your own car review channel and simultaneously being college students. It's inspiring.

    It's a blessing in the sky the Maxima still surviving as other sedans are dying quickly. Most people talk about jatco transmission and not 4 door sports car but test driving one see what the Maxima really is. The Altima has gotten better though has AWD the Maxima still lives out to be a great large or midsize car. Refresh model looks better more upgraded like a luxury car it is a beautiful car not sure if value still average as was before love the car maybe next generation for 2021 might be even better who knows it might come out next year sometime.
    Think reason why this car has 2WD not AWD and because it would hurt Q50 sales + CVT transmission does help improve fuel economy for a large or midsize car gets 30 mpg so the Maxima is affordable car cheaper than Avalon but get better features on Maxima instead of Avalon and TLX.

    • @A1God25
      @A1God25 5 років тому +1

      Ramon Carter Unfortunately you’re actually right about The Q50 being the reason Nissan still haven’t made the Maxima AWD yet. Supposedly the 2020 Maxima will come with AWD but we’ll see if that turns out to be true.

    Man this car is the sexiest I’ve ever seen....I wouldn’t dare settle for any other vehicle...Nissan has always been my choice of vehicle manufacturer...they are very innovative....now for a platinum version they should of included an “all wheel drive” for those tough winter snow road conditions...but I guess a V6 engine probably make up for it.otherwise I’m loving the quad exhaust system...now for a real treat it would of been so cool if the dashboard had like a gloomy night light going across from the driver’s seat to the passenger’s seat...but I guess u can add that if u wanted at any vehicle mod shop...otherwise this is my number 1 vehicle of choice....hey nice 4K Camcorder

    I own a 2011 maxima s . Plain jane it is n luv everythg about car ecxcept the suspension components r on the cheap side but exspensive to replace. 80000 miles n had to address all four corners . Fit n finish in its lowest trim still gives u a grt fit n feel for car. I will be buying the 2019 myself within next month. And i cldnt be more excitted about my new replacement with the exception of lack of sunroof in s trim. Thats huge bummer. N no more midnites what r u thinking nissan thats ur younger market. Shame it is. Keep maxima alive

    To me, Nissan's CVT + VQ V6 pairing is absolutely awesome in the Maxima, Altima, Murano & Quest. I've driven all of them and I enjoy revving the engine up and hearing the VQ growl. The smoothness of the gearless power curve and surge is something I've come to love and crave. I, too, don't understand what all the whining is about. I'll take the CVT + VQ V6 pairing over any competitors' complicated and sometimes troublesome (e.g Honda/Acura ZF 9-speed) automatics any day, anytime...

      Car Confections Oh yes! They are bullet proof too, they can take a lot of abuse too. I remember when I got my stock G37x, the stock exhaust is just special to the ears. Throw on a cold air intake and catback exhaust and you’re set, sounds even better depending on the brand you choose. I love my G37. I am happy they are still putting the VQ35 in the Maxima too.

    As gorgeous as this car is, I think Nissan needs to reimagine what the Maxima should be to a substantial degree. This car is not competitive at its current offering anymore. There are full-size sedans that offer equivalent or too closely similar horsepower to notice any difference, all while packing in the practicality that people opted to keep in not going for a coupe. To take a page out of Kia’s book would help Nissan tremendously I feel. The Maxima NEEDS to become a sport back vehicle that acts as its own entity and doesn’t exist as a nerfed down Infinity Q50 if Nissan wishes to keep this vehicle an offering in a dying segment. The Maxima NEEDS to be given a transmission that doesn’t moan when you ask it to do something and if that means ditching the VQ for a Turbo to makeup for the fuel economy loss with ditching the CVT then so be it, because that’s what the customers are asking for. We want a car that looks as awesome as this with a personality that backs it up and we KNOW that if any Japanese brand can make it happen it’s Nissan. Let Godzilla’s blood drip into your flagship sedan just a little bit, and give it the size/practicality of the class it competes in, and you’re gonna have people lined out the dealership to drive a Nissan that looks incredible and isn’t hindered by a CVT that has a stigma plague of questionable reliability. Give it a sportback, give it an 8-speed auto, give it RWD or AWD and give it a Turbo if you care about fuel economy. Revive the 4 door sports car PLEASE
    Come on Nissan
    Innovate in a way that excites us

    • @2W3X4YZ5
      @2W3X4YZ5 5 років тому +1

      @Alex Massey Hypothesis: Manufacturers refusing to sell any vehicles without CVT is due to their planned early obsolescence. Imagine buying a ten year old Maxima-sale price $8995. Sales tax, title and doc fee another $500 or so. Finance charges bring the price to around 11 or 12 grand. Then the CVT goes out. Go to get it fixed, and they tell you you’d be better off junking it (you still owe money on it) because the cost to replace the CVT is more than the book value of the car, which you are already upside down on. Do you seriously think that customer is going to buy another Nissan product?

    @Jaymac720 5 років тому +4

    That was an exhaust and a half at startup. If Nissan does keep this around, though, they should transform it the way Toyota did with the Avalon. The Maxima is still a bit of an old man car. I have a feeling this could sell insanely well and destroy the Chrysler 300 if they changed it to rear wheel drive and had a proper automatic transmission. The interior and feature list are very strong for being less than $50k. Better driving dynamics could make it one of the best mainstream sedans on sale

    I love this car! But I'm conflicted between this, the Kia Cadenza or the Toyota Avalon. All 3 are so exquisite and unique but that damn cvt in the Nissan irritates me!

      These are all great cars, but the Cadenza really blew away my grandfather. Although we did not look at altima. But that was 2018 so the avalon is all new for 2019. I think all 3 are great.

      @lamar chapman...the CVT is always implemented as a low cost alternative to a full on AWD...if Nissan offered you the ULTIMATE on a 2019 maximum would u be able to afford it ? Although the 2019 Altima Looks nice with its AWD,the Maxima will always be Nissan’s premier Car.

    Nissan's depreciate too fast.
    This Maxima will be worth about $15K in 3 years
    Also, no AWD when the Altima has it is shameful on Nissan's part.

    • @Erik-gp7pi
      @Erik-gp7pi 5 років тому +2

      They depreciate so fast because they sell to rental companies and businesses for client use. So every year there is a mass dump since they are upgrading to a new model. It may not be the best car in it's class but if you are trying to get a car with luxury and a hint of sportiness without needing to drag race your friends, this is a very economical option.

    In my personal opinion however, it was that bad that I actually had my notebook out, while I was reviewing it... ..as the 2019 Nissan Maxima fucking sucked. This vehicle is simply awful, Awful, AWFUL! Nope, forget it, I'm not going to the positives I have to say for this vehicle.. because even the slightest amount aren't enough to outweigh the negatives of this shite of a vehicle. I'm going to dive in straight through this brain-grating mess.
    So yeah, this is the latest facelift of the latest generation of a vehicle that should have never existed to begin with. And the best way I can put it to ya'll is that if you've experienced the other iterations, you've pretty much did the same to this vehicle too. However, I didn't think that this iteration of the Maxima would be worse, than the supreme idiocy that were the previous 6th and 7th generations... BUT IT IS... NOT, ONLY.. was this vehicle so... SICKENINGLY STUPID and MALICIOUSLY TOXIC... it's also... PRETENTIOUS. This generation of the Maxima, more than the other iterations, tries to mask all of its demented messages about a combined full-size and sports sedan rolled into one with inconsistent marketing, and moments where its shows off its false identity BY ATTEMPTING TO RACE AGAINST A 3-SERIES, A4, TLX ON A TRACK!... I mean.... was there seriously a fanbase... for this shit?... Are you tickling my balls, WITH THIS SHIT?!
    I do recall media critic Jeremy Jahns saying something very telling at the end of one of his latest videos on the current stage of Star Wars.. and I wholeheartedly agree with that. Some examples here: ...1) There was once a time where I found the Pontiac Aztek mediocre at best... but now I find it a cool vehicle with many interesting signs. 2) There was once a time where I was head-over-heels in-love with the MKIV Toyota Supra, but now, while still good, isn't as good as I remember it to be given the many repeating experiences I gave it back-to-back, when new data and information left out of me for that matter..... 3) There was even once a time, where I found a lot of the previous Maxima generations to be mildly entertaining... but now I hate them.. and it's all thanks, to these ABOMINABLE SEQUELS! Generation after generation! Because neither iteration of this car is interested... in trying, in increasing development, in representing its real identity, in making the dying sedan world more special than ever... in greatly combining sophistication and cool without being obnoxious... other than the fact that new one has a CVT tranny in it (still one of the worst as expected from Nissan).. they are all in essence... THE SAME. The persona never grows, there's never a clear sense of an actual interesting new formula full-size sedans (or sports sedans if on a different world) being told. And instead, they feel like the WORST excuses for try-hard overdone styling, ride and handling balance and function that meet far from full-size and sports sedans should put out, try-hard parts bin interior with numerous off build-quality and fit-and-finish, and these guys simply having inhumanely WARPED thought processes for the things they are doing!
    This latest generation Maxima including this fucking facelift is the worst of them all simply because this new Maxima feels so proud! Of what it's inhumanely stupid thought processes it has been doing generation upon generation. Biggest evidence of that is how Nissan still markets it. There is literally A RECAP to when this vehicle was sold as the "4-Door Sports Car" and to what still follows after with absolutely still no thought put into it.. this vehicle THINKS... that I actually believed it, as a true sports sedan... I have NEVER seen such a more poisonously pretentious vehicle depicted on marketing. This vehicle, this generation, this series, is so degrading, and mean-spirited towards sedans... both full-size sedans and sports sedans. It makes full-size sedans look completely weak and unreliable, and it makes sports sedans look like DICTATING show-offs who get off to abusing their power. The form following substance processing... is still as meaningless as ever. Try-hard styling that's bloated and incohesive, following a snug cabin with obnoxious parts and some cheap fit-and-finish and a harsh ride that's also far from sports sedans handle. (WHAT IS LIFE RIGHT NOW?).. if this is a full-size sedan you're marketing as, make it at least genuinely fun without having to exaggerate its capabilities. The luxury for the most part is lacking compared to today's market while lacking value for what it offers in general, the drive fails to combine isolation and fun, the styling fails to combine sophistication and cool while following function inside, some of the built quality and fit-and-finish is off surrounded by an obnoxious parts-bin, the identity is confusingly non-existent,... this vehicle, is just stroking my nose, with it's "edginess".
    The folks over at Nissan are trying, as I always had tons of respect and support for the Japanese automaker as I do with others too. Because first of all, they are way above this material. And they are TRYING THEIR BEST, but here, the material is so clear and absorbingly awful that it makes them look just as bad at the end result. You can't act through this, lads. You can't act through these actions and simple-minded thought processes. They're just deadly, they're an enigma, they're massively detrimental, and that's this car in a nutshell. Not only did this car ANGERED ME about what they're idea of a full-size sedan nor a sports sedan is, I've learned nothing. I have gained NOTHING from these experiences. (I personally sat through this vehicle because not only did I need to finish it off hopefully, but it's my personal belief that no matter how bad a car like this is... the guarantee, in my position, is that it gives me something content at the very least. It gives me something to write and yell about, and I am learning as I go in-depth onto my thoughts here. Like, this is all a learning process for me, and is imperative to my skill set as a performer... and this car and this series of generations... have CHALLENGED that philosophy. Luckily I can now let them know not to invest their time on such a garbage and HEINOUS vehicle series)... This latest Nissan Maxima made me angry, more than ever. This car just pissed me off simply, that I felt somewhat regretful, of even mildly enjoying some of the earliest generations. I felt even sillier for the defense I gave them in the first place when I was still in that mindset of not minding it.
    And this may sound weird even to me, but.. if you enjoy a vehicle, go on and knock yourselves out.. enjoy it. There's nothing better than enjoying it and it's indeed better off than hating it, but in this scenario, it's a different story. This car, this series, the fans that it blindly attracts, what it's been doing, what it's been influencing to the sedan world (the automotive version of Happy Tree Friends now???)... it's delusionally reprehensible. I mean.. right now there are cars, even full-sized ones and sports sedans that came out this year that are doing so well under the radar.. that are simply just so worthy of your attention and time being invested by experiencing them. I simply can't understand how this vehicle.. is still a sales success... I just don't get it... I mean... is this really what automotive industries think we actually want? To experience and own THIS? I'm not even going to call it entertainment, just THIS... UDDER.... FILTH!! Lads.. a much better interpretation full-size sedan: the all-new 2019 Avalon from Toyota.. heck even a much better interpretation of a 4-Door Sports Car too with not much more money with already being a better value overall: the all-new 2019 G70 from Genesis..... give those vehicles all the attention they deserve. Those vehicles actually CARE about effort put into. Those are the kind of sedans in a dying world that we need right now, and not going under the radar.... THIS being in the radar through the public world, you gotta be fucking kidding me.
    But as it is.. the new Maxima is so obnoxious, so hypocritical, so manipulative, so painful to-live with, there's nothing even charming about it, it's personality is THE WORST, these vehicles do not treat themselves at what they really are and should be and don't care within any effort being put into, etc. I am fascinated (in a bad way) with how this thing is still in production, apparently even having a target market and fanbase, and how it treats full-size sedan shoppers and car enthusiasts around the globe, and the inescapable fact that it's so full of NOTHING. The usability and easy-to-live with nature of a full-sized car? NOTHING. The true character and drive of a sports sedan? NOTHING. The capability of greatly balancing sophistication and cool being a full-sized car without trying too hard? NOTHING. The overstyled jagged incohesive design that tries to dress up as something it isn't? NOTHING. Form following function? NOTHING. The value it has for the money compared to sports sedans and full-size sedans? NOTHING. It's real identity NOTHING! It's world?... NOTHING!!!
    You know what? I'm done.. I'm done..I'mdoneI'mdoneI'mdoneI'mdoneI'mdoneI'mdonI'mdone.. I am done, with this vehicle, I am done, dealing with it more, I am done, still seeing it exist, I'm done, with this series that I hope Nissan puts to an end... Carlos Ghosn.. screw you, and your abominable creations! This is the worst series of vehicles to ever exist.
