Wow - I'm surprised to see this. That was a thriving, busy shopping centre when I was last around there (1998). I watch videos about abandoned malls in America and really did not think we had abandoned shopping centres here. But I guess Coles (or was it Woolworths) just moved on to a new building. I did not know Gosford is now considered a part of Sydney.
Was having brunch with my GF there in the late 90"s .She says " I have something to tell you " I am Pregnant & it's not yours ". I was floored ,but the slow head turn and glare at her from the woman sitting at the next table was priceless .
Once the Retro Decade Revival Project goes underway, abandoned places will become a thing of the past where restoration takes over and brings once thriving places back to their original brilliances.
What happens when there is an excess of retail space? Landlords up the rent, the price of the property soars upward, and then it's a complete mystery when whole buildings are abandoned.
Thanks for making such a soulful tribute to Gosford Marketplace, now a ghost mall. I remember when it was thriving and full of life. I used to ride my skateboard on the streets around the mall on a Sunday with my friends in the early 80's. It was totally safe because everything was closed and there were no cars!! BTW your shot at 3:02 is a real work of art. It would make a great silk screen or print, in the Andy Warhol style.

The title having Sydney isn't necessarily referencing Gosford as part of Sydney. The "sydney" in the title is just there since my channel name is abandoned sydney so every video title starts with 'abandoned sydney:' (unless it's in another state then i will change it to 'abandoned (state name):'.

This was a beautiful shopping centre.But I have not been there since 1981.Retail everywhere is struggling.Broken dreams for all those shop keepers.
