Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 48 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.
She making the music fit the emotion of the word and getting people to listen to those word that would never listen to rap,as a 45 year old mother of 3 who has been divorced twice, and has been in the music industry as a county singer sense she was a kid she under stand the struggle in the words of the song. and as a songwriter herself is a fan of Eminem work.
She interpreted the struggle in the lyrics. Everybody thinks it's just a hype song, but the lyrics say otherwise. Kasey told the story and lifted the intensity perfectly. The mood all changed. I think you need a musical ear and an appreciation for creativity and arrangement, not just be hung up on it being a rap song. This is the second of maybe 100 reactions to this song that I've watched, that just didn’t get it. Importantly, Em approved for it to be put in Spotify, so he must have thought it was good.
i think Kasey Chambers only Eminem fan that listened to the song?? the first two verses are in the third person thus the story telling. the 3rd verse is in the first person thus the change of voice and the change from he! to I!
Some fans just don't like a song to be touched. I think the key is that she didn't change any lyrics, just presented them in another way. It really showed the depth of Eminem's poetry and helped me to understand the song better.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions which makes life interesting. Even though you didn't like it, I do appreciate that you listened till the end and expressed your true views. Thank you.
have to say I've heard Eminem's song a few times but never really heard the lyrics clearly... His is a 'punch in the face' his rage is all there. Tracey slowly tells his horrific early life with so much sadness then lets the emotions come to the fore...then Pow! the band appear and she goes off and I believe she does Eminem's song justice. Whew! what an emotional journey.
I love the slow build, makes the drop so much more powerful! But kudos for the honesty!! Check out Ain't No Little Girl or Not Pretty Enough to see her doing original stuff.
4 minutes of anguish explodes into 4 minutes of rage. This is an emotional tour-de-force from start to finish. To appreciate it you can't be closed off from your emotions.
I don't know who said its BETTER than Eminem, but she definitely did take it and do her own thing with it. Kind of like Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt". Both great works for different reasons. Which is what of cover should be. Do something different with it. Its not karaoke.
Eminem performed this as a young man looking forward and knowing he needs to change things, to make more of his future. Kasey is singing this as a (slightly) older woman who's seen life and knows this is it... last chance. Two totally different places but the song works for both. I think this shows just how good Eminem's writing is. Apparently Kasey worked out this arrangement during Covid lockdown when she couldn't perform. Me... I made bread...sigh.
When Kasey Chambers career was just getting going she lisyened to this daily. I absolutely love this fucking version. Had it on repeat for days. But i can see how it may not be for everyone.
Watching the change in your reaction to this song was great....to top it off, that's Kasey's dad shredding it on lap/steel on the left....yes, it started slow but really did the song proud in the end.

Entirely fair reaction! It is a very long intro to what everyone wants to hear and see, that's Kasey pouring her soul into the song. She's 47, so when that song came out she'd have been 25, prime age for that to be popping off at clubs everywhere. You can tell she's lived some of those lyrics.
Best part about lose yourself is the heartbeat rhythm that fuels your anxiety. This is her take but it takes away the the "about to risk it all for this one moment" feel.

It definitely was a slow start, maybe should’ve brought the drums in a bit earlier or something, but she took it and made it her own in her own way which is pretty cool

Trailer core is hot right now. If you're not sure what that is, it's when people cover famous songs and slow them way down so that some studio can use the song as the background music to a trailer for a movie they're releasing. I think she's throwing her name out there for studios to notice.
@@MichelleShow I'm sure it's not actually called trailer core, but it's for sure a real thing. 3/4's of the movie trailers that have come out in the last five or so years that aren't geared towards kids, have it.
No she's not. Kasey is has been a huge Eminem fan since he started. During the various COVID lockdowns/restrictions here in Aus she couldn't tour & as she strongly identifies with the struggle to make it the song is about, she wanted to do a cover so spent 2020/21 breaking it down working out how to be able to do the song in a style that suited her. As the youngest inductee into the Aus Country Music Hall of Fame & the youngest solo female inductee into the Australian Record Industry Hall of Fame - she doesn't need to chase the studios..........
Kasey has been well known in Australia for over 30yrs first in her family’s country band then on her own. Youngest woman ever to be inducted in ARIA hall of fame. She isn’t an unknown trying to be known. She loves that Em shows his emotions through lyrics, has been a fan of his for a long time. During COVID she finally got a chance to rearrange her fav song. There is no professional recording & video of it like there is for her other songs. If was trying to be noticed she would have had it professionally done like the rest of her stuff.
Nothing weirder to me than seeing people complain about people not liking a song or not appreciating it the same way they do. How shit would it be if we were all the same.
I don’t think it’s about not liking it, it’s a complete lack of respect for an artist. You can critique it without badmouthing. You can appreciate the way something is put together or sounds without really liking it or without it being to your taste. If someone only likes limited types of music & is unable to appreciate other types they shouldn’t be reacting to other types of music or take requests. The other reactor I watched who didn’t like it (1 out of a hundred) was polite and talked about the song with respect even though it wasn’t to his own taste, there were also no rude comments written in the comment section. There were people who didn’t like it but they also weren’t rude about it.

I love the slow start. We have gotten so used to music these days needing to hit in the first 20 seconds. This version is giving the song room to breathe, like a Pink Floyd song does. Music has become a product and it's sad to see. But, respect your opinion!
You can have your opinion, even if it's wrong.
It definitely was a slow start, maybe should’ve brought the drums in a bit earlier or something, but she took it and made it her own in her own way which is pretty cool
Eminem is so big they're even trying to make country versions of his music😮😂😂😂but I almost called this 🗑️but then again I'm fond of that rock & roll twist I'm cool with ROCK
You were against it before it started because of the length. No attention span then?
She did well.... But Eminem still rules this song
616 likes with 68k subscribers tells me most people disagree with this half-hearted reaction.
This guy is absolutely clueless. Well, now you know when watching any of his further reactions. Em even gave it his approval by letting her post it to her Spotify account
Wow, I bet you gotta lot hate mail. I love it more than that dbags version and I love the original. This has more soul and more pure heart than the original as well.
Eminem approved this I heard. Damn, you do thrive on bad vibes.
The second half was way better, it just started off too slow. Her voice is very interesting ☺️
It's OK. That's the best I can say.
You wanted to not like it, but you had no choice😂😂
Everyone in the comments is trying hard to get that money.
🤣🤣
Thought you stopped doing PayPal requests what happened
Another country music request lol i'm telling you boi
Em’s pen is so nasty…expressed in other musical accents, it still communicates the same way…
Why do you bother reacting to songs that are outside of your norm? Instead of taking it for what it is, a beautiful interpretation of the song, you went into it thinking "if it's not exactly the same as Emihem, I'm going to hate it". And even then you probably wouldn't have liked it.
Stick to reviewing hiphop.
Em gave Spotify permission to play her version….she got paid…he obviously disagrees with you..
This women looks like amber heards mother
U should react to montana of 300 jay z remix💯🔥
Did crypt request this
I an old rap head, ya know Deathrow, Rap-A-Lot, UGK, ABN blah blah blah
I prefer this over the Original any day, don’t like the Original that much, prefer 8mile and Rabbit Run from the Album.
i have a trash rapper you need to check out his name is sean the artist and he's been rapping for so long yet he just can't get it right, i remember hearing him in like 2016 and he never improved
my typa content
It sounds like She’s going through raisin potato salad withdrawal.
😵 ok yall gone get canceled 🤣
@@MichelleShow 😂😂😂
WTF???!!! Better than Eminem's? MichelleShow that sounded like you got trolled!😂
Honestly the cover's fine, she got a good singing voice for sure, but original is way better. Another Eminem STAN wrong again, they be so wrong that we can start a counter each time they wrong.
sounds better at 1.25x the speed
Trailer core is hot right now. If you're not sure what that is, it's when people cover famous songs and slow them way down so that some studio can use the song as the background music to a trailer for a movie they're releasing. I think she's throwing her name out there for studios to notice.
wait this a real thing?
@@MichelleShow I'm sure it's not actually called trailer core, but it's for sure a real thing. 3/4's of the movie trailers that have come out in the last five or so years that aren't geared towards kids, have it.
She actually Australia's youngest ever Country Music Hall of Fame recipient.
I never liked lose yourself so it's a 50/50 for me. No issues with covers, but I prefer the original because of mom's spaghetti or instrumentals.
commenting to get paid 🤣🤣 .. but nah cover was mid.. there's a cover of Rap god and that chick goes in!!
what a great cover this is ju 😴😴😴
...
Not better
Man, if ya gonna do reactions...wait until the end before you opine.
@@Amanda-uc5jq Way to go on, and on, and on... only to be easily contextualized into:
"Such artish dishreshpect!"
Fk her twice as weird as she sounds looking self. 😂How about that? If she so good, how come she gotta yodel someone else's music to get attention?
I get that people are requesting and paying for these requests, but damn dude, they've all been trash. These are unknown artists for a reason. They're probably the ones paying for you to react to them.
🤣 naw i liked grieves and zack farlow..
As the world turns - 🐐….. I mean Eminem😏
I wouldn't call her an "unknown artist"! Maybe outside Australia but she's been performing since she was 12 (with her parents' band - dad Bill on lap style guitar in this), youngest inductee into the ARIA Hall of Fame (the Australian equivalent of the Grammys), multiple Country Music Award winner, etc. One of her original songs was used in the Sopranos.
For me she's always been hit or miss (and I've seen her live a lot) and one of the few artists who was better in the studio than live. (I have a theory why that is/was but it isn't something I want to say here - pholk reckon I may be correct though . . . ) This particular performance is fyre and definitely the best thing of hers that I've seen.
Unknown? Bit of actual research wouldn't go astray.

Has toured the U.S. multiple times & had her song "The Captain" used on the Soprano's
Just because YOU haven't heard of her doesn't make her unknown - it simply means YOU need to broaden you musical knowledge.
She isn’t unknown at all, just unknown to you, she’s the youngest woman ever to be inducted to the ARIA hall of fame (Australian record industry) & has been onstage since she was 10yrs old.
She is an amazing story teller through song just obviously not to your taste. It’s not the same thing.
Sorry didn’t read other comments before I posted.
Your negativity showed from the start, didn't improve by the end of the second verse. What ever happened to an open mind. Looks like Eminem doesn't share your opinion. 👎 for you.
so you think she is playing a guitar ? ok .
I cut this shit off a minute in
So you don't understand music.
@@Quinctili. Better then you obviously.
There’s another chick that does it sooo much better. It’s insane
Who?
What did we do to deserve this flood of Crud? Anyway, I am sorry. Now please stop it.
this wasnt that bad just not that good
Ok, not as good as Em of course, but decent I suppose😅
I dislike these lose yourself covers so much. Lyrics dont go with slow style at all. But for some reason ppl like them
