Great background choice. I do like the fact that you address all the issues others are having with this radio and your opinion on some of those issues.
I love it also. It just doesn't get the press it deserves. I also understand how it can be a bit intimidating. Either way, when the weather up here gets warmer I have every intention of range testing it.
Returning it for flysky noble because no booster videos to scared to take apart, It's a good controller if you're looking for racing as for range I'm sticking with what I know, without boosters this controller goes double vs flysky noble out of the box. I believe 533m vs 266m flysky or something.. out of the box that is. I could be wrong.
What would my best settings be for bashing. I have a Arrma Kraton 6s, OutKast 6s & Talion 6s. (All V4) I'm looking for a little inside help. .. braking ect...
Fortunately each vehicle can have its own settings. For bashing I would keep throttle at 100% to start. There is a traction control setting you can adjust if you feel the trucks are too aggressive off the line. The brake adjustments you will have to make to suit your driving. You can always dial the brakes back a bit at the start. The ABS function is really handy, but you may not need it. If you feel you do change it so you feel more comfortable with it. One thing I prefer doing is setting reverse to 75%, this can help prevent drivetrain damage.
@@azzhole216 Have you updated your transmitter recently? The ABS function works directly on the transmitter, same with Traction Control. Your ESC does not need to have the adjustment as far as I know.
WHOAH! I just got a DX5Pro that I'm seriously disappointed with. Now see this, and see they're not available anymore. WHY!? What a great radio! I want one of those!!
There is a bit of speculation about why it was discontinued. I'm personally thinking it was how it was locked into a much older Android OS and could not be updated. The DX6R was ahead of itself. I still use mine, and it's still mint. Slow AF to boot up... But it does everything I ask. Any specific reason you are disappointed in your DX5 Pro? Friends of mine have it and love it.
Damn... it's probably out of warranty, but have you tried contacting Spektrum? I updated mine a few months ago to be take advantage of the newer Smart tech. Was a bit worried about it, but it turned out just fine. Still a big fan of the transmitter. Hoping they bring out another, but better.
@@TinyTiresRC I just got it today, it is a used unit, it worked good until I updated, I bought it with intentions of using the smart tech. It gives the message "error updating firmware" now the raceware wont open. I will be in touch with them tomorrow, hopefully they can help. thanks for the reply.
@@quadkrazykeith Best of luck to you. They may ask you to send it in. Might be a service fee, but it is worth it. The transmitter is a slow to boot. Outside of that, it has spoiled me for transmitters.
Absolutely does. As a matter of fact you don't even need an AVC receiver to control things like ABS, or traction control. I've been doing it directly on the transmitter itself.
@@Ashish1984 You cannot achieve AVC like stability without the correct AVC receiver. But you can control things like ABS, and Traction control. Which, IMHO, go a long way to stabilizing an RC in high speed maneuvers. Thus far I have only driven one RC I feel absolutely NEEDS AVC, the Arrma Felony/Infraction cars.
Thanks! I could have done better. Transmitter has been fantastic. Not one hiccup. No updates from Spektrum yet I'm aware of. I did find out it is decidedly NOT suited for scale trail or crawlers. The battery in the car will definitely out last the battery in the transmitter. Longest walk of shame ever.
Dont know if anyone cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother during the lockdown xD
Tamiya F104. Originally it was the cheap all plastic version. I've installed all the standard F104 PROII parts. Been much better since. Thanks for asking!
I wasn't to thrilled about the boot up time either at first. Any time I go out to run, I turn the transmitter on before setting up my work area. Essentially negating the boot up time. In the end, to each his own. I've still had no issues with the transmitter at all, and am quite happy with it. I'm still learning how to use all the goodies it has in it. lol
@@TinyTiresRC I understand but honestly I cannot see that as feasible. If I have to somehow rush to get into a heat for any reason whatsoever, I will get DQ'd by the time it boots up. Using the Android OS to me is lazy. Not to mention without security patches it is vulnerable to many attacks.
@@Lateral_G When I go to the track, it's don't turn the transmitter off. Once it's on, it stays on. There is a sleep function built into it. Basically between runs I put the TX to sleep, and put it back on the charge dock. As far as security, there isn't anything in the transmitter that can be considered vital. The Android OS is really meant for updating the unit, nothing more. Yes you can browse the internet with it, but is something I consider completely unnecessary to do with it. Not trying to sell you on it, just explaining how I think it was meant to be used. Early on in the DX6R release, people had major issues with included APPs. They would be watching UA-cam, or had some other bunch of APPs running while operating an RC... Little much, lol. This caused all kinds of operational issues.
@@TinyTiresRC I get you. Yeah, I suppose you learn to deal with it and just be proactive. On a nother note, why in the hell would people watch UA-cam on their radio? That is simply the lamest use for the radio. Just because you can does not mean you should. Oh well, you can't fix stupid. Cheers.
All you need the computer for is to register the Transmitter. And you can do that on a smart phone if you have one. The actual transmitter update is done by connecting it directly to WiFi.

The radio is fabulous, no issues at all. I'm in the same boat as you for checking the range, I really wish someone would test the range. Nice vid
