I would be looking at the Radiomaster MT12. It comes with either a 4 in 1 module or ELRS 2.4. And this radio will run about $130. By the way you can also add an external nano module the radio. I think this will give you all the options. I may be at first difficult to use, but a full programable radio.
I've been in this hobby for 42yrs and I highly recommend you just throw this radio in the trash and save yourself the trouble, get a Futaba 4PM, Radiolink RC6GS V3 or flysky GT5 and you will be much happier
Spektrum Surface-side sees the writing on the wall with the RadioMaster MT12 and will spend the next few years price cutting while sales stagnate and decline. Their days hopefully will be numbered on the Air-side also, as droves of pilots have already switch to EdgeTX.
I'm currently struggling with my dx6r. I love the simplicity of it, but it brutally slow and unreliable. I'm on the verge of sending it in for repair for the 4th time.
I have a DX5C and it's been a great radio, and it's great to bind to HH RTR's. However with that said there are several more economical options for radios and recievers, such as Flysky, for any kit or custom builds. So the DX6C gets a pass for me.
There’s all sorts of flavors out there. I’ve got 2 Horizon cars on the radio and even my Redcat Ascent. It comes down to whatever works for the individual.
I don’t get the acceptance and popularity of Spektrum’s transmitter interface in 2024. It may have been fine when it was released but it’s severely dated compared to other radios priced similarly. I purchased a DX5 Rugged when they were on sale. I had a cheap Flysky GT3B and GT5 at the same time. I thought the DX5 Rugged would be an upgrade, but it’s interface was so horrible I sold it. The wheel is better than the fumbly touch pad (even the second Gen was horrible), but it still doesn’t stand up to less cost RadioLink or the really old Flysky GT3C. Looking at similarly priced offerings like the Flysky Noble NB4 or dare I say a Traxxas TQi with a cheap old iPhone you have gathering dust in a drawer you’d be better off
Greg thank you 🙏 for an honest review of this radio. I’m a long time Spektrum user in my fleet of gas boats. I’ve been waiting for a new surface release from them for a while. I think this could be my 7th Spektrum transmitter but was hoping for a all new special edition model for us die hard Spektrum users. Great video sir!!!!Twisted Liquid says thanks again. Take care.
I actually messaged them yesterday to find out if it will b available in the rugged, and if it will come with the promoto program.havent heard back yet.
@@gregorydunn9292 lol,I got the rugged, and all you have to do is bind it to the promoto, and it automatically knows what it is.the program is already in there.
Hi The Spektrum DX6C ( of maybe DX5 ) is compatible with my possible future Mini-z MR04 EVO2? I also do model flying, I have a lot of Spektrum Rx’s for my DX8, can I use them for the DX6C ? e.g. Vince
I know they sponsor you quite a bit but from my experience Spektrum Surface Radios as so archaic and so far behind even the cheaper brands like FrySky. I ran Spektrum Radios in my RC Aircraft for many years and it they were actually keeping up with the competition. Now with Spektrum Surface Radios they are just milking the brand name and don’t bring anything innovative out and haven’t for at least 5 years! Based on this they have zero value for money and I hope they read this as used to love the brand. I even ran a Spektrum Module and Receiver in my Futaba 3PK before Spektrum made their own radios. Now I’ve changed to a FlySky Noble NB4 Pro for not much more that that old basic DX5C! Does the “C” stand for crap? 😂
Absolutely not. For the price of the new dx6c, you can buy a Flysky Noble NB4 for about the same amount, and get 2 receivers AND more channel support. Plus the programming features in the NB4 are vastly superior. Spektrum radios are good rtr units but their “upgrade” radios are a joke.
It would be kind of cool if traxxas had a stand alone transmitter.. just an opinion. I get its probably not an economic for them but it would be nice. Somthing differently than the actual rc itself.
It seems like it should, as it has a quick disconnect on the AA holder that can plug into one, but when I emailed them, they said: "Unfortunately, we do not have a lipo option for the DX6C."
I don’t understand the price for 700 bucks as a transmitter alone . I can take a radio link add a booster and save 500 ?! Am I wrong I have a dx5 pro but
I recently bought a flysky noble nb4 and now realize how overpriced everything from futaba, sanwa and spektrum are. All the technology is these "pro" radios is dated and the screens are from the nintendo gameboy era.
I have one of their Original 3 Channel Pistol Grips with 3 Model Memory.. Used it for about a Month... been sitting since then. Went to go use it and Fresh Batteries in it. Display is all messed up and will not transmit. Sucks because ALL My R/C have their receivers in them. Now I have to replace All My Receivers and will Probably go Dumbo Brand. Cheap and Great Range. Plus, Spektrum Is Over Priced and there are Way better Brands out there now since 2.4 became the Norm.. But Horizon Hobby Pushes Spectrum and puts it in ALL Their R/C... That Catch Fire, Smoke, Burn Out and and and and and .....

Yup lots of options out there.

Why not something that’s actually an upgrade? Sanwa or Futaba perhaps both have proven reliability and performance.

I want the old DX6R back thats when spectrum was doing it right!!

The 6 was… interesting, but use my 5 Pro more.

NP! No reason for a 5C owner to drop this for a 6. But it is good for existing Spektrum users looking for a bit more than a basic radio.
I also had 2 of those 6 channel recievers with the avc and telemetry fail on me,and they just sent me normal 5 channel recievers to replace them.
I actually messaged them yesterday to find out if it will b available in the rugged, and if it will come with the promoto program.havent heard back yet.

Hi

I also do model flying, I have a lot of Spektrum Rx’s for my DX8, can I use them for the DX6C ? e.g. Vince
Do I need to buy it with a transmitter or can I use my one in my car ?
Thanks for the information
Can I adjust the brake and throttle punch with those transmitter ?

So am guessing this a direct competitor to thr futaba 3pv? If so which is better
We need a sick DX6 Pro! I love my DX5 Pro.
We need a DX6R V2
Hopefully we’ll see something more high end in 2024.
Is it compatible with older dsm receivers like sr3300t ? Thanks !
Anyone know if you can use this TX with the Losi Promoto?

Absolutely everything about the noble nb4 is superior to any spektrum controller.
Completely agree. I couldn’t believe how much better the nb4 was. Spektrum “functionality” and features are just gimmicks.
Luckily there’s something out there for everyone. What works for you, isn’t what’s for everyone.

Radio link 💯
Is this able to take a lipo battery versus Double A's?
It seems like it should, as it has a quick disconnect on the AA holder that can plug into one, but when I emailed them, they said:

Nice 👍🏻
I need a transmitter that will control my losi lmt'my f250 cen,and my 450 I have 3 or 4 transmitters
Radiolink makes a better radio for cheaper. The Rx6c works better for $90.
I have two DX6R they were junk so I hope the dumb down DX6C is a better radio
The backlit screen is nice and the usb instead of the 25 dollar cable they sold unless they fix the power button I am not switching.
I’ve look it up it says 300$!?
I have 2 5C's. I'm covered...
Someone told me you were from Connecticut is this true

Indeed. Horizon is well represented by local hobby shops so that’s really all you get for buying their radios
Flysky all day haha
Damn wife got me the dx5c for xmas... smh
This is bullshit! I refuse to spend moneys on something new. RC has gotten out of control
Then don’t. Nobody is forcing you to.
Fly sky noble nb4 all day, way better radio.

These transmitters don’t take jst 2s or 3s lipo batteries having to keep buying 4 double a battery are annoying and waisting money
Lol this is an iPhone update. Same everything. New name.
