Abigail, I had to wipe my eyes to type this. I am 85 years old and I remember my first solo in 1957 like it happened this morning. I figure it is right up on top of the most exciting achievements of my life. Next will be when you land and tell your' father can I take you for a ride Dad, I'm a pilot! Sad thing my father did not like flying, even though he aroused my flying interests by him an I building and flying Model Airplanes when I was 12, right after WW2. So My 14 year old brother was my first passenger instead. You did a great job. Looking forward to your' flight test. My thumbnail picture is the airplane I built in 1985 flying over the everglades in Florida.

Believe it or not in 1958 when I took my flight test the total cost of flite training was around $500.00 American money. :O) I got married and didn't fly again until 1978 It took almost 8 years to build the plane in the picture, started in 1980. I really loved that plane. Tons of fun to fly. It was open cockpit. Good luck Sudeshna. I hope your' dream comes true!!! Thank you for the nice compliment. Are you in Russia?

@@3azooz0o0alruzaiqi5 Your CFI would not let you solo if you weren't ready. I ended up teaching aerobatics in my Cit. 7KCAB. The plane will feel much lighter, shorter take off run, etc. When it's over you'll wonder why you worried. Relax and enjoy.
My flight instructor just radioed tower and said, “I’m sending one up”, then, as I’m told, he went inside the FBO and watched TV. Greatest feeling in the world, but no GoPros back then to document it.
Well done to Abigail and welcome to the exclusive club of pilots. As a pilot, just remember you will be like Peter Pan, you wont grow old. The Instructor, looking and watching him, what a true professional! 17000 flying hours later, I can still remember my first instructor, you never forget!
Had my first solo about two weeks back after spending just over a week flying. The moment I knew I was about to solo was as soon as I touched down after a circuit and my instructor said ‘I have control’. Best feeling ever. I’ll never forget that moment. So cool watching someone else experience the same emotions.

This comment made me laugh out loud. I called my house and told my family I was going to fly over the house. There was a golf course fair way ran down to the back fence of the property, nobody was there. I dropped down to tree top and came down the course. My Mother was outside with my sister. My Mom was saying you get down here right now, my sister said. :O)

I just finished my ground school yesterday, I'm so excited to start my flying before long been wanting to get my private pilots since I was 3 I'm now 53, here I go!
My dad is a retired TWA Capt., my brother is a biz jet pilot and I have an uncle that flies helicopters. I never get tired of watching these First Solo vids. Congrats Abigail!

My friend is a pilot. But when he was still logging hours for his IFR certification, he would take me up when he needed to log some more hours. It was always a blast. After he got his certs he was a flight instructor for a while. Took me up one day and let me fly for a bit. Learned a ton in such a short flight (3 hrs round trip). We landed at a small airstrip in the middle of nowhere. As he was circling the airport, he keyed up to a frequency and you can see lights come on below. It was very cool. Anyway, we sat there for a while and decided to head back home. He gave me a quick lesson and I got to take off and get us up to our cruising altitude. Her reaction at 09:02 was spot on to mine for that short time. He's now a professional commercial pilot. I'll always remember that day.
I always used to think that I am not smart enough to fly a plane. Being 23yrs and not too sure what I want to do as a career, this was perfect video to push me in pursuing my interest in the aviation industry. Thank you and congratulations!

I am 78 years old and did my first solo in 1959 age 16 and remember it well. 44 years later retired as the B 747 400 Airline pilot and wish I was 16 again to do it all over!. Good luck and I know you will do well if you choose flying as a career

I went on a discovery flight a few months ago and it was amazing. I was so nervous but I was smiling the whole time. Cant wait to actually start flying
I’m working on getting my CFI right now, and it has started to drag out (bad weather crowded schedule etc.) but this helped motivate me. I remember the smile on my face when I got off the ground solo the first time, and I can’t wait to send a student up there to have that same experience

As wonderful as this first solo and Abigail's experience may have been (congratulations!!), I'd my like to point out what a great job as an instructor you did there. You certainly gave her the training she needed, but more importantly, you gave her confidence and trust in her abilities as an aviator by being honest, constructive, a friend and helpful beyond belief. Great job, both of you. Your students can be proud to have you as their IP.

If your health is as required, it is definitely not too late as a 51 year old. You are not OLD old, you know. If you don't have the money for airplane lessons, start out with glider lessons. It is usually cheaper - at least in Denmark, where I live. Don't live your life from the point of view, that you are too late.
very nice solo .. congratulations! had to record your teachers voice at 4:25 ; incredible, i had to wipe my eyes. "I will be there if you need anything; it´s gonna be a day you will remember for the rest of your life" - that burned into my head.

There is no feeling in the world like your first solo. I'ts an amazing feeling and one I'll certainly never forget. I'm almost finished with my PPL training and will always remember my first solo and cross country solo flights.

I only have one of my students on video. Love how she did her checklist out loud! Talking to yourself in the cockpit is a Must! Way to go Abigail!

There is no feeling in the world like your first solo. I'ts an amazing feeling and one I'll certainly never forget. I'm almost finished with my PPL training and will always remember my first solo and cross country solo flights.
