    As an agnostic that plays in a stoner rock band and always struggles with execution vs energy playing live, I think this level of delivery has to be respected. This seems to be about helping people worship God how they want, rather than 'everyone look at us' There's an admirable level of self sacrifice playing to a click with some geezer chatting the changes in your ears. Realistically this is a VERY diluted performance experience but it delivers a much higher quality performance for everyone else. I can see both sides but I think for the purposes of helping the audience have a religious experience this is great. On a guitar-nerd front, the tones here are just so great. Love your channel and yeah, just rad all round.

    Bradford rips even when he isn’t trying to rip. It’s like he is using 50hp, but you know there is like 600 more under the hood. Great tone! And props to the vocalist too ❤

    Being 65 and having played Acoustic, Electric or Bass on Worship Teams since the 1970s, I have had a front row seat to the evolution of Worship Music performance and production over the course of five decades. The current Click/Guide/MD (CGM) system has many advantages: keeps everyone on beat, makes rehearsal and execution more efficient and consistent, easy to swap musicians in and out, plus other great benefits. There are down sides as well. A band had to practice together more and developed much more cohesiveness. We retained flexibility to change up a song or tempo if the moment required. We weren’t locked into a set list. I don’t think I would abandon CGM, but I would challenge worship leaders to do a rehearsal (and maybe even an entire service) without it every now and then just to develop the ability to play off each other and grow as a team.

    I'm dealing with some fairly serious health issues right now, and have been trying to cling to the Lord through it all. Watching this video, even though it was primarily focused on your in-ear mix, I was once again reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of God. I broke down. He is SO GOOD. Thank you for serving the Lord. You don't always know how your videos will impact the viewer.

    I don’t have 1/100th the chops or experience, but having played electric direct in a worship setting, this type of mix is necessary to really hear your instrument and stay tight as a group. When you’re in a 3 piece with a loud amp next to you you can hear everyone, but on that size stage with that number of musicians it really helps. Leading worship is primarily about leading God’s people with a heart purified by grace, and using the tools necessary to do that to the best of your ability glorifies Him.

    Yep it's overplay but it's personal take on playing music, again that's behind Bradford's IEM sound and how he play., The output sound mixer (overall-stage-main) is probably different. wer using clicks and MD overhead and its effective. Kudos great sound and example for using clicks and MD voiceover

    The reality is people don't have an issue with what is happening. My guess, and I may be wrong, is that we've seen so much failure from leadership in churches that have such a level of creative output that it becomes guilt by association.
    Whenever I see these, my soul goes the same way and I feel a bit ick about it. When I sit back, as a musician, I totally understand doing it all for Yahweh and having a heart to be creative in musically worshipping.
    My take is that we need to recognise where it can go wrong, and guard our hearts and minds against that through various practices, and then hopefully we can be in a place where this sort of creativity is celebrated more largely.

    • @worshiptutorials
      @worshiptutorials  9 місяців тому +2

      I think there is some truth to what you're suggesting about how much absolutely terrible leadership (and moral failure) has been associated with large hyper-production focussed churches. Definitely won't argue with you there - it's a sad reality, and the church simply needs better leadership. I do feel that our culture is part of the issue. We simply make idols and celebrities out of our pastors. And with fame, wealth, and power often comes moral/leadership failure.
      But we also get a lot of comments on these kinds of videos about how the mechanics of what we are doing go against what God wants for us to do in worship. It happens a lot, and it's pretty surprising to me, honestly - like the idea that using a click track somehow hamstrings the movement of the Holy Spirit. I often wonder why people believe the Spirit of God is so weak that the presence of a click track or MD would destroy it. That is more what Bradford was talking about in the beginning of the video.
      These are all things that I believe we should be open and honest about, and we should strive to make our churches places where people are known for their faith and character. Thanks for commenting and sharing.

    • @bmitchellmusic
      @bmitchellmusic 9 місяців тому

      Sounds like you skipped over the whole part where I explained what was going on. No need to assume you know my heart or how I do this.
      The idea of ‘hearing from the Lord when I play from my heart’ comes across more as ‘I don’t practice, prepare or respect my band mates.’ I’d suggest unity with the band. Which is what we are doing here. No one thrives on their own.

    • @funfreq9282
      @funfreq9282 9 місяців тому

      @@bmitchellmusic I didn’t skip it… Funny that you’re implying the very thing you said that you are doing “no time to practice”changing out musicians right? I said to each there own! If you like that sort of this god bless you. I don’t, I come from a time when you knew the song and improvisation within the song came naturally when the inspiration was there not when someone else is telling you in your ear. Scripture says to play with excellence! What happens when you play through a wedge? Does your MD still tell you what, when and how to play? At some point you have to be the one hearing from your heart and not the MD other wise he should be the one playing the instrument.

    The playing is excellent but the whole stealing the U2 sound in Christian music is finally running its course. Excited by bands like Consumed by Fire who are looking to take things in a new direction. Additionally, Bethel and Hillsong seem to be less about church and more about business in my opinion. For example, Bethel's refusal to release our music on youtube even when we have CCLI licenses that covers it is very frustrating and lead our church to the decision to stop playing their songs.
