    Oh, boy!!! It was such a treat to get this. First things first, I apologize for the time code, that's just the way I got it. Second of all, eeeee!!! Plenty of us have been wanting to watch this for a long time, so here I am sharing it with you.
    Aired October 13, 1974.
    Muppet wise-man Brewster (performed by Dave Goelz) and Rufus the Dog (performed by Frank Oz) begin with Rufus trying to interpret a song request he has for Herb Alpert. They then move on to perform Spanish Flea with Muppet bossmen dancing in the background. At the end, Ernie and Bert, performed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, make a little cameo in the audience!

    I had nightmares after first time I saw this (I was about 5 years old). Seriously, they have teeth, and the green one is going to eat Herb Alpert. The camera is situated lower then muppets so they are more terryfying.

    This clip is from the show "The Sentry Collection: Herb Alpert and the TJB Plus The Muppets!" which ran at 10PM on Sunday, October 13, 1974 on ABC-TV. It was preceded(at 9PM) by "Sinatra: The Main Event", a live Frank Sinatra concert at Madison Square Garden. I remember watching both. Do you have more clips from the Alpert show(specifically, Tijuana Taxi and A Taste Of Honey)? If so, please post them. Thank you for posting this clip.

    Why do the bossmen require two people?

    • @dessy0713
      @dessy0713 4 роки тому +2

      Most large puppets require more than one puppeteer, usually so they can each focus on controlling a specific action/part of the puppet

      @@dessy0713 I can name at least three major exceptions: the La Choy Dragon Big Bird, Barkley, Thog, and Sweetums. Actually, some variations of the Bossmen can be performed by just one person: ua-cam.com/video/GWkH8cPKrOM/v-deo.html 47:20. It was The Dark Crystal that helped revolutionize full bodied puppets.
