    Beyond awesome job as always! I favor that overpass shot of Q453. I managed to catch the same P091, P097, and Q453 later on in the day in the Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach area.

    Thanks!
    That's interesting about the Haines City Branch. It's called Industrial Park Spur on the timetable now. I hope they can get some business down there.

    Good to see the railroads aren't being stopped by the fires you guys are having around Alligator Alley.
    But hey thanks for giving us another good video on catching trains in Florida!

    Yes, I'm sure that road looked a lot different in the SAL days. Wish I could have ridden i back then.
    Thanks for the kind words.

    Agreed! Looks like traces of the crossing were there though. I'm sure the new crossing, which I saw the construction of the new road on Google Earth Street View, has LED lights.

    It is now March 2023 and both the Silver Star and Silver Meteor, north and south, run four passenger cars, diner, two sleepers, and finally the baggage car.

    @davesb45 "Dan, these are the finest rail videos I've seen. Thank you for putting these out for everyone to enjoy. It takes me to places that I would never have known and the rich history there. Please keep up the great work and again thanks"
    I agree!
    I grew up in Florida and I'm familiar with many of the names and have seen some of them, too. We used to summer in central FL, out of Miami.
    These vids are top!

    Be nice to see passenger service restored to Haines City. Plant City too! Seems like they've both got enough population now to support it.

    I was just thinking that. Danny I think its time to head to Miami....being that many of these trains that we see end up there. Well done on the video.

    They didn't close the Bella Vista crossing..they MOVED it! The road now comes up from the industrial park and right at the top of the hill, a 90 degree turn south for about 1000 feet, then it crosses. Wierd.

  • @gravelydon7072
    @gravelydon7072 9 років тому

    Danny, I think Amtrak changes its mind about where the sleepers go just about as often as people change their underwear. Northbound on 98 in June it was sleepers on the front as it was this week on 97. But in Jan and Feb it was sleepers on the rear.

  • @RealJeep
    @RealJeep 15 років тому

    They did that road switch because the residents on Bella Vista were complaining about the truck traffic going to the local industries. Now the trucks coming from the north have to go down to Fairbanks St, cut a sharp turn west, cross the tracks and go north again to get back to Bella Vista. The neighbors are happy now...

    Hey Danny,
    Another nice job but you got hosed on your train chasing that time. Maybe ATCS isn't such a bad idea on a laptop after all. I've been trying to catch the Lakeland Coal Train as it hammers up the spur to the power plant. You can see the unloading process right from E. Lake Parker Av. I don't suppose you would have that in your vast CSX library would you?

    Danny why doesnt Tallahassee get more trains in a 24 hour period. Is it the economy?

    • @DOTD7382
      @DOTD7382 3 роки тому +1

      probably because only a few trains run to New Orleans. The Tallahassee track you're on only has CSX going to the New Orleans Port in LA. UP and BNSF handles it after that.

    All these. Numbers you call.out, are these route numbers or engine model type numbers?

    • @redleader8952
      @redleader8952 5 років тому +2

      most of them are train numbers. they designate what train it is and where it runs from, and make it easier for the railroad to keep track of trains. for instance, the first train in this video, CSX train Q603, runs from Waycross, GA to Winston, FL. its easier to refer to it as "Q603" rather than the "manifest freight train that runs from Waycross to Winston". each train on all railroads have some kind of designation. CSX uses a 1 or 2 letter prefix (the letter Q is the most common prefix on CSX, meaning "scheduled freight train") then a 3-digit number. other railroads, like BNSF, use all letters, with each point of origin and destination having a 3-letter code. "CHI" is Chicago, "LAC" is Los Angeles, and so on. they also use a 1- letter prefix. So train P-CHILAC is Priority Intermodal, Chicago- LA.
