    I too was impressed by Trusova's quad toes. They are getting very good spring off the ice and are not just her rotating quickly. I see nice improvement there. Knierim and Frazier are doing this well already in part because they have years experience doing high quality pair elements (albeit with differing techniques that need to be merged) and because they have a natural athleticism and look that is so well suited for pairs. They look great together for a brand new pair. Most new pairs aren't nearly as cohesive as this, and they have jumps, so it's all right there. They can modify lifts as they get more used to lifting together. They are progressing quickly, but they're also progressing smartly and aren't rushing to get everything down right away.

    I don’t mind if kamila wants to wear more conservative costumes. I have a problem with them being so hideous to the point of distraction. What she wore for the test skates was better. Don’t put a busy costume on a skater where you want to emphasize her long lines.

    I could not believe that Kamila was in the middle of a spin when the big key change in Bolero hit! Even if Michelle's Bolero was not her best, she still knew to rip down the ice with some dramatic footwork there.

Also, due to her outspokenness regarding the issues with Eteri she was never invited to be part of the Moscow figure skating elite... meaning no invitations to present the Rsf here and there, lead the Ice age show, comment on TV... she should be delighted by the opportunity to work for Plushenko.

    • @jerirogers2592

      People need to eat healthy diets, use herbs and/or colloidal silver and other natural sources to bolster their immune systems. Washing hands is also good. Wearing a mask in public when you have a cold is polite and helpful to others. Mask wearing by the healthy is really unhealthy because you are breathing in carbon dioxide (bad for the brain) and creating an environment for viruses and bacteria that you are breathing directly into your respiratory system and sinuses.

    Valieva's Bolero interpretation is portraying a snake. She said it herself in an interview btw and it was hinted rather transparently by the cobra picture on her dress back. It has nothing to do with flamenco, Spain or romance themes at all. From that point of view her "cluttery" program full of infinite movements from beginning to end does make sense. I suppose the program goal is to immerse spactators in a state of hypnotic trance just like snakes do. That, and being able to move this much - with arms, legs, torso and head - always and incessantly, between the jumps too when most skaters would try to prepare for jumps instead - just highlight how insanely difficult this program is. So much so that I wasnt even surprised when the falls occurred. Still, the only one capable to skate this snake program perfectly is Kamila Valieva. I don't see any other skater who could do it even physically - one should have exceptional stamina and flexibility for it. Many people criticize this program for being too mature for Kamila and advise to wait couple of years for it - yet they fail to realize that it would become impossible to do exactly that interpretation of Bolero with more older body. it's perfect fit for her now IMO.
    Also, it's amazing how the strongest and most beautiful pefrormances in that tournament artistically - Kamila's short and Usacheva's free - weren't deserve even a word from you yet you have tons of praise about Trusova's quads which you criticize so strongly last year. I wonder why.

    • @evamasters5028
      @evamasters5028 4 роки тому +9

      When you take a famous work of art, you cannot complete divorce yourself from its cultural context and meaning. Bolero is erotic and militaristic. The music carries these vibes in it. It is also by definition a Spanish dance. Deciding to portray a snake with that music as your theme could be acceptable of you synchronize this with the emotions which the music evokes and if you have a performer who can blend it all together artfully. Snakes, conquests and eroticism are not mutually exclusive. Valieva is undoubtedly very talented young skater. But even she being a 14 year old Muslim girl, cannot turn this mess into coherent performance and compelling story, because she does not have the experience and cultural understanding. Next time I suggest Eteri do the snake piece on something more Russian in its original- may be Anna Karenina or perhaps War and Peace. Being Russian she may be able to do that and Kamila may be able to play it. Or may be not. One thing is certain however- Kamila's Bolero is a mess.
      Additionally I find it funny how defensive Russians are when it comes to Eteri... it is a sign of maturity to be able to take criticism and make constructive changes. This is how athletes, performers, artists and people in general grow.

    • @Boymanjusri
      @Boymanjusri 4 роки тому +1

      @@evamasters5028 To say being a Russian meaning that person must be good at interpreting Anna Karenina is rather stupid, if not racist.
      Zagitova is also Muslim, why it's appropriate fo her to interpret a sexy woman with African music at the age of 15? You don't sounds logical at all. You just want to show your anti-Muslim sentiment.

And no one is talking about her PCS being higher than Daria's? I would have Kamila and Daria both higher than her. Yes she's improving but she's still miles away from them. Kamila made mistakes but her body movement, skating skills, and just the speed ice coverage are far superior.

They want to force her to mature for next year's Olympics and you can see she is trying to cooperate but somethings are better left to their own course. A wiser choreographer would have chosen something more relatable... even Romeo and Juliet would have been a better choice. Kamila's skating at its best has a certain otherworldly, ephemeral quality. Poor Valieva was glorious in the short and fell apart in the free. In the short she actually looked confident and relaxed in the end. Can Jonathon explain why he doesn't seem to care too much for Calalang & Johnson? I think this year they have improved a great deal. They seem to skate together as a team better, have good flow/speed, phenomenal twist, beautiful lifts, and although the throws have little distance they at least seem consistent. It's just the jumps that are a disaster. But Jonathon thinks they have zero chances with the international judges? And he compliments Cain-Gribble/LeDuc, whom I really like as well, and thought they had so much potential. Now not so much. I'm not sure if the competition has gotten better or they have gotten worse, but their skating seems "heavy and labored". Their lifts are not smooth, they are strained. Their moves are not very finished and often look sloppy. And forgive me for saying, but I just want to go out on the ice and help Tim lift her, he seems to be having such difficulty. The way his feet shuffle on the lifts do not seem steady to me, it's something I see in Novice and Junior men just learning.

      @ Svetik: Everything in this world with very few exceptions is a shade of grey. So are Eteri and Plushenko. I applaud that Plushenko had the audacity to challenge her and to break the monopoly in Russian women figure skating. I also appreciate the fact that he attempts to bring more sustainable skating techniques (judging by the improvement in Sasha's quads), and I also like his comprehensive approach to her skating. Many people have labeled Alexandra "athletic and unfeminine", criticize her skating skills and artistry. He obviously works on both, which I cannot say about Eteri. This is a mark of a good coach. He is certainly not perfect and his need to dominate the space and prove he can be the best coach probably has something to do with him going to Moscow by himself at age of 11 to train with Mishin. I am sure Mishin for all his abilities as a coach encouraged competitiveness and probably used Plushenko's insecurities to drive him farther on the winning path. I feel compassion for Plushenko. Eteri is also full of competitiveness and insecurities, but her methods are different and as I said, much more covert and viscous. I also feel compassion for her, but also recognize that along with bringing some progress in the sport of figure skating she had also destroyed the long term prospects of the female skaters by exploiting yet another loophole in the ISU rules by setting a conveyer belt for 14, 15 and 16 years old girls who practice unsafe techniques and have to retire at 17 or 18, because these techniques are not sustainable. I admire the coaches of Rika Kihira, Tuktamisheva and now Trusova and Kostornaia for looking for ways to provide longevity in the sport. Plushenko is not perfect, but I appreciate what he has achieved and continues to work for. I also prefer his methods to those of Eteri. You certainly do not have to agree with me. We all share our opinions and understanding here to enrich each others views and hopefully to support the positive development of figure skating worldwide.
