He got Thorpe right - not only in his portrayal but in his analysis of the man; Thorpe thought he had the right to kill what annoyed and threatened him; to say "I could kill him!" is one thing - to plot how to do that is something else again; the point at which Thorpe's reason deserted him.

An Awfully Big Adventure, 1994?. Watch it for the careful direction of the groups of actors together. Then watch for the performances. Then wstvh for the historical bits. Then watch it again. I get that Hugh Grant is a pretty anxious kind of actor.

Any comedy is annulled by the murder of the innocent dog. Great film, and Grant excels, but I have to skip that part. Dogs are nicer than humans.
