Hi Greg, in my humble opinion First Class with BA is definitely better than Upper with Virgin I’d say Virgin’s Upper compares more with BA’s Business Class Club Suite 👍
BA First class is like a good business class on other better airlines... but, of course, much better than the old BA business class on this flight. The First class loos are very unimpressive. Voice-over is much better - vlogs are not just about the product/information but about you, the reviewer.

I actually enjoyed the captions, a nice change but would still prefer your voice, maybe a mix of the 2. I found the captions useful identifying the food. I tired of the music though.....for a first class review maybe something more classical or smoothing and not so loud?? As to the flight, shocking catering, I'm sure you would have got better from middle eastern carriers business class. 1st class didn't look very full, why couldn't the staff maintain the condition of the toilet, it was so small. Otherwise, the facilities prior to boarding were excellent. Interesting report, based on your experience I would give BA first a miss.

Yesterday i travelled back to the Uk with Emirates on their A380, the flight was full so around 500 passengers were on board and the Economy toilets were far nicer and had been cleaned repeatedly throughout the flight 👀

One of the things that truly makes the Concorde Room special is its quietness. There is very little noise and as a result one feels so less stressed pre-boarding than even the First lounge.

Excellent review, Mark. Miss the voice over! Million dollar question? Pulled the trigger on Virgin Upper to NYC when price fell to 2.1k. BA Club was identical but I get the impression Virgin beats BA hands down. BA First v Virgin Upper? BA food looks manky! What do you think?
Hi Sandip, it’s a really tough decision tbh and would depend on what aircraft each airline had flying to NYC
The newer seats that both Airlines have are all very nice, I’d say the Virgin A350 Upper Class seat just beats the BA Club Suite but it’s very close and would probably come down to what the service/crew were like on the day.
Personally, I’d always pick BA First over Virgin Upper as for me it just has that extra sprinkle of fairy dust….the Pommery champagne certainly helps too 😂

Looks like the FA enjoys the food, not worth the money but 99% of passengers who Fly in BA premium cabins don't pay for their own flights, easy money for BA.

Dear Mark. Silence is not golden! We want your voice over. Why? Because I love your informative and measured commentary. It goes so well with your great filming and choice of background music. I also love those funny interludes from the French man. The breakfast did look disappointing for First Class! The only First Class I think I would ever fly is Japan Airlines or ANA. Best wishes.

I'll be flying BA First again to LAX in Aug, but in April 24' the Cabanas weren't around from what I could see in the Concorde Room when I was last in First to JFK... did I miss a trick or are they part of the new facelift BA is going through just now? (Sadly I see the Elmis Spa doesn't appear to be part of it) but great to see a private room offering with more space when using washing facilities, other that the hospital issue showers. Any tips as to how to book them, or are they first come first served? ...and yes a proper voice over explanation here would improve the video to add in little bit of commentary such as this.

You can reserve a cabana once you’ve booked a first-class ticket by calling BA First. I was really lucky because both were available when I arrived at the lounge, but I did have an evening flight, which is usually quieter compared to the morning rush.

@@tradingplaces787 Thanks for the heads up... I have a connecting flight back to another UK destination, so will definitely look into it to freshen up after the 11 hour flight. It's usually quite popular, but morning landings and connections, the terrace is my favourite part of the lounge to relax. The light, view and sofas being so comfy are amazing, not to mention the fact that any dinning such as brunch, high tea etc, can be brought to your table there and the staff will come and check you need anything and take your order. I should also say the bar staff are fantastic and the drink I usually order that a lot of regular bars won't make (a white Russian), they do there and it was fantastic. I think the furniture is probably something video reviewers don't talk about enough. I've not been able to find a lounge with chairs and sofas as comfortable as the Concorde Room.
Its a bit dramatic saying michelin starred food. BA's First food is far from that

Well shot video the lounges at LHR looked really good as did the food, I would have been a bit p***** off with all those lower class passengers boarding before me😉 but nice to see you were taken to your seat by a member of cabin crew, the seat area and cabin interior looked really modern and smart .
Service and food looked very good , but the full English definitely looked a bit iffy.
Personally I prefer a voice over with perhaps an occasional text giving aircraft details ( age etc)

lol - you really made me giggle with the steerage passenger comment..........I have been flying First for many years now, and back in the 90's when BA occupied T4 they escorted you from the lounge to the plane if you were in First. The first time I flew First ( just slightly post puberty! ) was on a flight to Mexico City, and when we arrived at the gate the BA rep escorting us was like Moses parting the waves as he made a direct passage for us through the crowd and onto the plane - 'Make way, Make way!!'. I felt like a film star, and at that moment realised travelling First was what I was born for!
Quality job and I actually enjoyed the musical backing not overpowering. Maybe do both as your style is very good. Absolutely loved the experience; the voyage of food as well as accompanying wines is a joy to watch let alone actually have. Cheers to you

I prefer to fly with carriers from countries that have proper human rights
I went into the Concorde Room in 2007 before a first flight on BA to Mumbai. Back then you could literally fly BA for free redeeming Clubcard points which used to have a ton of loopholes and very generous points offers. My favourite was buying cheap phones, for about £15 unlocking them and flogging them on ebay fo no loss. Every phone used to attract 1000 clubcard points which had a redemption of about 600 ish BA miles from memory. Needless to say, with this reward at the end of the rainbow it was worth the effort! Hope to get back into the Concorde Room again one day, but Nectar just doesn't cut the mustard these days and you have to spend money to get AVIOS, by whatever method. Thanks for the video this Lounge is on a different level to anything else at Heathrow.

An insightful and nicely edited video as always, Mark! If I may choose, I think I enjoy your voice-over narration the most! Your breakfast looked really good, but of course looks can deceive and as you noted, it proved a bit bland. They didn't serve bacon with it -- which for me would be quite alright, as British bacon is so different from what we're used to across the Atlantic, at least when it comes to full Canadian or American breakfasts!

You sure ate well on this trip. The first class lounge, especially the cabanas looked absolutely brilliant. However I don't think the onboard first class experience was all that much better than business and not worth paying over what you would pay to fly business. Definitely prefer to hear your commentary.
Hi Jd, I certainly did eat well, the only problem was once the turbulence started whilst I was lying down it tuned by stomach into a mini cement mixer 😂🤦
The Business class Club Suite isn’t that far behind First anymore, the seat feels very similar 👍

I just snagged a first class flight from Dublin to JFK (with a layover in LHR) for 83k avios and €430 in taxes. The leg from LHR - JFK was about 68k avios but a whopping €660 in taxes. Probably not the best value in terms of avios per € for the dublin leg (considering Aer Lingus offers the same route for 4,500 avios) but I would've paid much more in taxes. Excited, flying in exactly a month. Cash ticket was about €6k which is mad!

I tried to book the Cabanas for an upcoming trip and they said they had removed them all and replaced with '40 wink sleeping pods' back in 2023?

Thanks for a look at the cabanas which have been closed since March 2020 and only reopened last month. They have been refurbished and are much better, but the bathroom looks the same. I'll be in the Concorde Room for the third time this year on Wednesday for , I can't wait.

He bud..................so ya made it to First. Not too shabby a product, but could be improved. The best part about going First is the Concorde Room, hands down. Did you check out the Concorde nose cone on the terrace? It came from G-BOAG as I recall, which was the last Concorde I flew on back in the day ( February 2000 ). Anyway, great vid but without your voiceover, it lost that personal feel totally. If you think the flash of a bare shoulder in the shower will placate your fans...............Your humour, voice and cheeky smile are what cracks your channel for me. If your next vid is voiceless It'll be Divorce courts for sure lol. But seriously going voiceless with just subtitles really de-personalises the whole show.............am I being too brutal?? Oh and in answer tio the Q is it worth the splurge???????????Hell yeah if you are redeeming Avos, if paying cash.....................see a therapist.

@@tradingplaces787 Just do what we do - next trip is to Santiago in Sept and the flight goes at like 10pm...........but we will rock up at the Concorde Room at 10am and just lounge about luxuriating all day at BA's expense. Nothing better than a day doing nothing but av geek plane spotting, stuffing ya face and talent spotting.......

Found a similar shirt too so I ordered one of those. I've lined up a trip to Prague for me B'Day, so new gear will come in handy!. I'm old school, I like to look like I've made an effort.
