- As an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ), you will protect pilots and their aircraft. It’s your responsibility to record and track detailed flight and maintenance records for the most high-tech aircraft in the world. Every bolt, screw and panel must be accounted for in order for missions to be accomplished safely. I was a AZ from 1977-1981 (USS Constellation CV-64; VA-147) Technology sure has come a long way--advanced.

@@HabsFan__- Nice. I have a family member who is currently in bootcamp with an AZ job rate. I'm sure there will be ups and downs, but all in all, I'm hoping the overall experience will positive.
@@rezzworks6529 I definitely think it will be a fun experience, AZs definitely have an easier life than the other rates and the work is really interesting in that every day is different. Depending on where they get stationed they can definitely see a lot of different parts of the world too so that’s a nice bonus

I was stationed with Sams at FRC Det Washington
it takes a degree to fly an airplane but it takes a highschool diploma to fix one

So what never happens is taking a whole logbook out to the aircraft and it probably would entice more people to be into this rate if you speak on the SA/DBA asphodel the job.
I was like us Marine never take logbooks out to the line we have the shops do serializations to tell us what’s on the aircraft.

They don't ever go on the flight deck. Basically admin.
