I’m gonna keep coming back to this video until I’m dead. This was one of the best memories I had on that ship, I hated the camera guys until they finally came to the pit and I’m super proud of what came out of it. I knew I wanted EN but there were never any good videos until this one with the guys and I. Everything they said is true. It 1000% sucks too, but it builds character. And the opportunities both in, and after the navy are vast if you really enjoy working with diesels and want to develop the skills it takes to repair, maintain, and operate them.
It's important to add there's alot of mixing between ENs and MMs. We work together alot so we can learn both. I am an EN that has worked on almost all of the equipment listed in the MM video
I recognize a lot of parts / pieces of equipment in engine room...I worked in civilian manufacturing profession (as maintenance engineer) - never was in Navy (looks cool tho!). I earned /learned everything I know - was continuous challenge. I even hired exNavy people. Go Navy! 🇺🇸
do what’s right for you bro, i just turned 20 a few months ago and i’m shipping to bootcamp this week. it’s definitely not a decision to rush. best of luck to you!
Join. I’m in the Coast Guard right now as a machinery technician. A lot of ratings that are the same or similar. Join now and you will thank yourself later that you joined young.
Man the Navy you sure said changed since my days back in 97. The way this guy's describe everything he sounds like an MM or GSM. And I saw the m m video machinist mates and he did everything the engine man was supposed to do AC Refrigeration all that stuff with the boats small boys shaking my head
You young EN's should do 1-2 career tours on minesweepers...that will mentally strengthen, temper your mind, and expand your experience... being DCPO, TEAM LEADER, OSL, EOOW, SW pin, FUEL/WATER KING, keeping a good track to making Chief...good luck guys...🫡
45 minutes of sea dancing with another ship to refuel. Trump won’t read 2 page brief on the biggest security risk to America that is prepared every day.

Probably one of the hardest rate in the navy.. not as fun as he makes it but good luck 👍
I did all. MMR AMR, and small boat. Loved it. 13 years.
@@littleshy1000everyone says that about every rate
“having a lot of fun in the blige”….. ok buddy
I spent two years on board the LSD-29, USS Plymouth Rock. It was powered by steam boilers.
I love ships and I want to be in the Navy but I’m conflicted between enjoying my 20’s or going into the Navy and do stuff later.

What is being an EN like? Is it a good rate?
T Willis it’s the best rate in the navy
soakedjuggler that supposed to be sarcastic?
It's a good rate, but you'll hate it with all your heart till you get out
Long days no matter how good the space looks. You are at war with the bilge.
it is a good rate but you will slave out like never before lol
Respect to those who served, it is sad to read news of someone who was a prior servicemember that is now in prison for being racist
Ah aux 1 my space
Do mm please
If you reading this it’s too late
Omg this is the job I never picked 🙄
LSD’s are getting decommissioned :((
Never go to a gas Turbine.
Can you go on a Frigate/Cruiser/Destroyer with this Rate?
militaryaddict1234 no only gse’s and gsm’s go on those ships
@@joelregier6766 no ENs can go to those ships

You should never have a crank case explosion. Ever. If you do. You are not a diesel mechanic.
