This is fascinating! Never seen a VCR like that!
Yesterday I saw one left out in the street and wasn’t driving my car and couldn’t take with me. So I was thinking about it the whole resting the night and even posted a photo on my fb page.
So today before starting work, I went to pick it up, figuring it would still be there and it was and quickly picked up. I had no idea this was a high end Sony model (SVL-R1000), but knew it was once a great unit with all the buttons and bigger size.
At first I thought the previous owner cut the plug, but it’s a plug in plug. Well I clean the surface and it only had a few scratches and still in great shape. Now I have to find the plug, manual and remote and hope it works.
I think the last Sony vcr I bought was from around 93/94 and had the gold out front, but a different unit. I usually buy everything in the 700 plus series and only buy top of the line if it’s reduced quite a bit.
Maybe go ask that previous owner what they know about it? Maybe they can give you information about this item.
Beautiful machine. I want one. I see these refurbished from time to time.
It is great. Love the features. Nice quality too. The way they used to be made.
Does it have TBC? I heard you need this to have the best quality . SVHS Deck w/ TBC.
Awesome unit thinking about picking one up locally, do you think it worth running s-video into a convertor via rca adaptor or just better off with monster cable rcas?
Hard to say. Most say the closer to S-Video you can get the better.
@@HorsepowerHouse Yeah I figured, seems easier than finding a convertor with s-video input; the market seems really sparse for boxes now post Firewire era. Thanks.
Yeah I have a Sony box that converts all formats to Fire. But this VCR also converts just about anything.
@@HorsepowerHouse I'm pretty much sold man, just sent out the email to pick it up :-)
I have this as well as other older video "gadgets" like a DVC Pro players, Hi-8 Players, cameras, etc. I probably don't use them enough - but they will never lose value. Especially the professional models. Really nice gear that is old as the hills...
