I immediately thought of The Railrodder. A short film starring Buster Keaton. Thanks for posting a nice scenic trip down an old forgotten path. Great scenery.
When I was young in the '80s I watched people building their own out of bicycle type stuff and exploring old railroad tracks in either Oregon or Washington and they would go out there with everything including camping gear shovels pics and chainsaws and come alongs to move obstructions purely fascinating they were in the middle of nowhere were people hadn't been in God knows how long I wish I could see that again I saw it on some kids show thanks for sharing a had fun watching it
That extra pair of inside rails on trestles, is to keep the train in line and from falling off the trestle, if should there be a derailment. Lots of people don't know this
Was just wondering this a couple days ago. Thank you! Are there extra sets of wheels on the bottom of trains or just guide bars that run by it as a safety bar/guide?
I want to make a hybrid one so it's nice and quiet I want to use a Honda generator and a big electric motor it would go like a bat out of hell like a Tesla car
I discovered these little railway carts/karts/speeders/whateveryoucallthem only yesterday, and I'm fascinated. Yours is the first that I've seen to be battery powered and with an aluminum frame -- quiet and lightweight. Did you design and build it yourself? I'd like to know more. Please help!
For those making jokes about trains running them over, trains don’t just spawn out of nowhere. There’s normally enough warning to safely get out of the way.
Looks like lots of fun, may I ask where you got you're wheels? I've recently built one my self and the wheels that are currently on it are "crane wheels" which work but are not vary wide so they don't compensate for the out of gauge track too well.
Due to a lack of abandoned lines in my area, I often have no choice but to use active ones. However, does get a little tricky sometimes going tnrough tunnels with an oncoming train...
not on live tracks . I m guessing they were running the Vancouver island rail line that hasn't been used for 12 year plus. It's still consider not legal to do but no one coming after them. So on any railway that been abandon yes you can do this . Doing it on railway still in use is a good way to died fast. So Ron if you made a railway bike that s the fastest way to start doing this unless you ve got skills with metal.
Love it! My son is just talking about building something similar to explore the E&N from Victoria. Do you still have this cart? I’d love to come chat with you if you are nearby on Vancouver island!
This is cool seeing another dude doing this. Ive been very hesitant on posting my video for over 3 years now. Its sketchy going through COBBLE HILL all open and ready to get bagged by the cops if they please.
@@quevicular Fair enough, but they've got bigger fish to fry than some weirdo's go-carting on disused tracks. LOL! No build yet. Just stumbled on these things randomly on YT. Looks like good fun. I've got a welding and wood shop, so building isn't a problem. I'd be inclined to go electric or pedal or a combo for a nice quiet ride. Less attention attracted too. :D I'd access at Humpback probably. But it got me thinking of how far one could get down town. Saw some tour companies in the States doing tours with electric/pedal ones. Island Rail Corridor Foundation some give up on commuter trains and get into doing tours. 2 questions: I know they are not being used but does a railroad still own those tracks? If so can they send a railroad bull after you and write you a ticket? Just wondering. Looks like fun though :)
They own it unless they sold it. If they still own it yes you are still trespassing it doesn't matter if its abandoned or not but its unlikely since it is abandoned.
The E&N line is owned by a non-profit called the Island Corridor Foundation, but they don't send people out to patrol the tracks as far as I'm aware. In fact, they're more interested in building walking/biking/hiking paths along the old rail line, so they'd probably just be happy to see people using the tracks.

Beautiful scenery and great music!👍
Beautiful, thanks for making the effort and posting, cheers.
Just awesome!!!! How lucky you are to have a place like this
Beautiful scenery. I would love to take a ride with y'all. Thank you for sharing !

Thanks for posting this, I was wondering why they had those on every trestle.

so cool ..i envy you being able to do it
Nice machine. Would like to try something like it on the abandoned lines in North Carolina.

Thanks for the video - it would have been nice to see your railcar in detail.

Hello Sérgio, the name of music is: Paulo Bottoms - Leech Decay
Still running that speeder? It's been a while. How's those tracks on Vancouver Island doing?
I initially thought this had to be Washington State when I saw the State Flower...Moss.
Moss and blackberries :P
Great Vid. wow love the sights, well done..love your cart. could you tell me how to build one.. thx T.J
Bucket list! I HAVE to do this! How fun is that?!!
I think a solar powered battery operated speeder would be the bomb for long distance quite exploration
I like your speeder here but I would prefer to have one with a roof just in case it rained.
Amazing video! Is the line totally abandoned?
You are living the life people dream about. Enjoy it!
Due to a lack of abandoned lines in my area, I often have no choice but to use active ones. However, does get a little tricky sometimes going tnrough tunnels with an oncoming train...
In the case, make the train pull over to let you thru.
Did you build or purchase your rail speeder car?
Super Nice! 🚅🚋🚋
That is so cool. How do we get to go for a ride on this? We'll pay! Awesome!
Pretty neat
Please make another video without out music & did you build that
Nice Track
Cool. Where is this video from?
Loved the video, currently sourcing materials to do the same on the east coast. anyone else in Canada doing this ??

looks like a lot of fun but what do you do too defend your selves from the wildlife?
How do you work out access?
Your speeder seems awful quiet. Is it gas or electric or what?
👍👍👍
nice

Did you build something? I'm thinking the same, but bicycle power or electric.
Always wanted to do this
Like a bike ride without having to look where you're going.
I would love to do that
Ever find any rare glass insulators?
what rail line was this and where?

In some states the railroad owns the track system! It is basically trespassing! What are they going to do! Some useless ticket! Just have fun

Where are these tracks
Hello, what the name of music, song good
Buckle your seat belts.
The Esquimalt & Nanaimo, where the Malahat used to run
The MALAHAT is still there, it didnt go anywhere, LMAO
doesn't look active anymore - is that correct?
Guessing so, people dont normally drive with Rail Speeders on active railroads
@@konkor9940 They might do it once! : )
@@mtlassen1992 Thats true LOL
It looks maintained to me. In that climate bushes and trees would be growing on the line in no time.

Do you have to get permission from somebody to ride on these tracks
if it is an active track, yes.

Do you ever have trees that fell on the track?
Скоро будете на деревянных рельсах гонять ... если построить не в падлу будет !!!
When you only point the camera at the rails it makes me dizzy and I don't want to watch!
Would you please share the music/artist? It's fine.
Hey just saw bigfoot standing in the tree line.
You find graffiti everywhere
In the USA, they are removing the old tracks and replacing it a path to walk on.
