This really struck me. I danced for 17 years. My whole world was dance. People knew me as 'Dancer Courtney'. I was set to do my teachers etc etc...then I tore all of my hip muscles off the bone. I was out for 8 months. During that time my entire life situation changed. Found myself dependent on an abuse ahole who blocked me from dancing. Again life changed, I had to move town to get away from ahole. Family members died. I was in a job that was not ok. I havent danced at all since 2019. I cant even watch dancing on TV. It gets me to upset. I had thousands worth of dance costumes and I needed money so I sold almost all of them. I'm honestly heartbroken about it everyday. I booty wiggle in my living room, that's the closest I get. I had to find who I am as a person w/o dance, recover from ahole and honestly I'm not 100% there. In trying every day to improve myself and my life, which isnt always easy. Thanks J&A, this video made me feel less alone. Big BIG fans of you both! Keep smashing it. Love from S.Africa!

I am a former Gymnast, former karate teacher. Tore my right ACL doing a back flip, when I was 25, which helped me retire as a gymnast. I tore my left ACL doing a jump spinning kick during a parade at 39, which helped me retire my karate career.
I wanted to thank you for having this content and sharing your struggles. I felt the injuries as you described them and remember each rehab path to mobility. I also wonder what I would have done if I never injured myself, but respect the events as a force of change in my life. I gain a bit of hope from your conclusion as well. That there will be a time that I can have a healthier relationship to the sports that were a major part of my life. Again, thank you for sharing. -Joe

Ash and Jay: I’m 56 and just dislocated my knee cap and tore my cartilage . You gave me hope for my upcoming surgery. I’ve started rehab while waiting for my surgery. Thanks, for the information!

I’m 12 weeks post ACL reconstruction surgery. I partially tore my acl in 2012 and exactly 10 years later tore it completely; I knew instantly both times. I’ve a long way to go yet but I’m working on it

Kudos on how you dealt with the injuries, physically and mentally. I also ruptured my Achilles at the myotendonis junction… was brutal. 💪

I just luv you two as a couple. Ash, amazing what you have accomplished as a gymnast and person. Your injuries are insane put you pushed through and don't appear to have any limitations. Happy Thanksgiving!

Joanna, I love these "chats"! Kudos to Ash for successfully creating a new road forward by building on his past experiences. I don't know how well I would have handled it if I had been forced to change my life's direction at such a young age.

These are some of my favorite videos. So true that we don't get a choice in what happens, just how we respond to it. Good reminder ❤

Love all your channels and happy to see these interviews again! It's cool to get a deeper glimpse into what got people to where they are. Btw, if Ash was number 1 in Britain at 16 does that mean he beat Niles?🤔🫣🤫🤣❤
