I want to give a quick update regarding my channel. I really appreciate all the new subs I have gotten lately and I will try to pump out more content. I recently got a new job so I can't create a schedule for when my videos will come out. Anyways thanks for all the support and keep an eye out for future videos!

Bro this video is great. Taking the time to watch the film as well as taking the notes, editing in the exact moments of the subject at hand. Huge bravo. As a matter of fact encore and with Kyle Larsons 2021 season (edit) I remember him running one of the mile and a half tracks at partial throttle and running all the way around as so (at least they showed and mentioned it) cant remember the track however.

There’s two things happening here.
1st, the bottom of the racetrack is smoother than the top. After decades of running on the track, the cars erode away the surface of the asphalt where they run the most. This leads to a surface with less grip on the bottom and gradually more grip as you move up (multi groove racing), but what this means is that the top groove chews through tires due to the coarser surface.
2nd, the brakes heat up the wheel rim and transfer energy into the tires. By coasting the car all the way into the corner with no brake, you’re keeping the tire cooler AND lowering your mechanical loads on the entry phase of the corner.
Harvick figured out that Atlanta was the most tire wear sensitive track on the calendar and used both of these things to his advantage. Combining these two things made him monstrously faster over the course of the run due to the reduced tire wear.
Watching him perfectly ride the line in the corners is so satisfying
Its truly amazing lap after lap looks identical like the ghost car they use to use but just to be that focused at that speed for 3 maybe 4 hours truly incredible

Good stuff. I was at those Atlanta races. He looked somewhat slow but was extremely fast at the same time. I’ll miss Harvick at Atlanta.
Harvick has been my favorite driver ever since he stepped into that Goodwrench car for senior. I can’t think of a situation where a driver was put under more pressure to perform than that. He handled it admirably at that. It will be a sad day when Harvick hangs it up.

Even when the competition figured out where he was lifting at so early they still couldn't replicate his lap times!! He is a true tactician at the old configuration.
Funny Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon are always amazing at Martinsville right well if you do your research that is pretty much how they drove Martinsville they would let off just right past the start finish line so that their car was set by the time they got to the corner and then they could drive through the corner instead of having to use the break to try and set the car and fight the car through the corner so it's wild at harvick was doing the same thing at Atlanta and at least in turn one and was absolutely dominant, and at a place like Atlanta with as abrasive as it is driving it how harvick drove it allowed him to save tires big time, blows my mind that no other driver even though they knew what Harvick was doing would try and copy him

Makes total sense, Atlanta was a tire management track. This is the most efficient method to preserve your tires without loosing to much lap time.
Kevin was one of the best modern day drivers ever. Period
Harvick just perfectly figured out the setup and way to drive at Atlanta. Some people just nail everything right and dominate while every other driver tries to figure out how to do it better. Some examples that come to mind are Jimmie Johnson at Dover from 2009-2016, Martin Truex at Charlotte from 2015-2017, and Jeff Gordon at Martinsville from 2003-2010 and at New Hampshire from 1997-2001.
Don't forget Gordon won 5 Road Course races in a row from 1997-1999.

With only 2 road courses on the schedule. Imagine If their would've more, Chase Elliott wouldn't be close to his record.

@@jeffreyvences5746 and Gordon won Sonoma in 2000! So, actually, Jeff Gordon won six straight road course races. I agree that Elliott would not be close to Gordon's record had Gordon had more opportunities per year. Gordon just raised the standard for road course racing and others had to adapt quickly.
Also, how can I forget Jimmie Johnson winning 4 straight Charlotte races from 2004-2005; he also won 5/6 races from 2003-2005. That's impressive
A few years ago at the brickyard. Kyle Busch won. And he was lifting by the scoring tower. Only driver there lifting that soon. I was there and heard it over and over and over again.
This man is underrated learning these facts and other stuff this man is a true harvick fan.

So glad I found this channel. Isn't my favorite driver by any means but this is awesome. I've heard about "Harvicking" but I thought it just meant he could hold his line really well. Didn't know it was like this!
Tracks that he's been dominate at they've changed something about them all. Atlanta repave and packages, phoenix a total remodel, Chicagoland packages until discontinuation, Bristol they repaved it and made one race dirt I remember him being good at Watkins Glen the last 10 results 1 top 5s and 6 top 10s. Indianapolis they kept changing the packages and now it's a road course, so basically the last 4 tracks that he has the highest average finish below 5 that are left is new Hampshire that has 1 date now Darlington the surface is getting rough but it's back to 2 dates, dover is down to 1 date, and Michigan is down to 1 date
And now Atlanta turned into a Speedway and this absolute ruined Kevin's technique 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

His technique was do to how great of a car he had! Rodney childers is the technique lol
Go back and watch the Nationwide and Cup races from the fall Atlanta races in 2009. Should have won the Cup race, but his idiot teammate Bowyer spun out off of 4 by himself with about 20 to go. The 29 needed about 15 or so laps into a run to take over the race. Unfortunately, the last run was only like 16 laps.
I remember watching that 2018 race where he was lifting at the quarter-mile. i had a similar reaction to Gordon’s 😂
Now you need to do one on why he was so dominant at Phoenix which in reality they might as well just called it harvick, nine wins or did he end up getting the 10th I don't remember but it was definitely something he was doing there that everybody else was not doing no doubt about it cuz he got those nine wins in like a six year period or something like that maybe seven but still it was insane how many times he won it was kind of like Darrell waltrip's dominance at Bristol
They shouldve turned texas intoa mini superspeedway and do a simple repave at atlanta
The Gen 6 car seemed to favor low line drivers at Atlanta more. Think it was the high HP, high downforce that made it harder to run the high line. The HP probably would have made running the high line more dominant without all that downforce or Vice Versa.
I think with the next gen he may be able to try something similar at Texas since he's been so good there too
I'd love it if u could go more into Harvick's driving style, since it's a aspect of NASCAR that should get a lot more coverage than it does.
I'm glad this video is a thing. The reconfiguration is god awful and the super speedway racing is atrocious. And the 550hp High Downforce was the biggest failure NASCAR has done to the racing product. I wish Atlanta kept it the way it was for the Gen 7s.
The running that specific line takes real talent. Only seen a few guys run a line and stick right along it like they are on train tracks that being Dale jr, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, and I have seen Tyler Reddick do it alot. And from the video I have seen I believe Hailie Deegan is pretty good about her lines as well (just gotta flip that luck switch/ get away from the racers of once was)
So Harvick was basically doing a gutter run by setting his wheels on the yellow line
And sometimes getting his left front on that seam below the yellow line.
Every Kyle Busch fan or haters keep saying he's one hell of a wheel man. That's true but how about Harvick who has 58 cup wins to Kyle's 60?

One thing im puzzled by, is from 2014 on, how have more teams not picked up on harvicks driving and started copying him? I feel if blaney, or truex did it in 18, i feel like we wouldn’t have seen Harvick win
